Great, honest review with useful real world scenarios. Unfortunately the inability to preview sounds and lack of sensitivity are both significant issues for me. Hope they address these because its otherwise versatile and nice upgrade from other offerings. Thank you!
I'm not a drummer, but I must say your sir, are an amazing one. I was wondering can it do hand percussion as well? Like not use drumsticks? I teach music to my kids and I wouldn't want them to destroy all the buttons and screen.
I agree, this guy shreds comfortably! These units are sensitive enough that a kid's hand or light stick hit will trigger the sound. Most even have velocity settings. I played my old one by hand in the kitchen a lot, very fun :) They are designed to be played w sticks tho, your kids baby hands won't hurt it, his Sippy cup full of juice will. Check out ATL Drum Academy on youtube also. He does kid drumming and beginner videos, thats how I started learning.
On-board samples are a waste of time (and memory space!) on a top-end sample pad like this - no-one's likely to use them but load their own (better) sample libraries instead. When will these manufacturers learn that we don't breaking glass & helicopter sounds?

Thanks for showing the underside!
Nice review. Can you send backing track "A" out to front of house, while listening to a different (click) track "B" through headphones?
Yes, but programming the pad is very time consuming using the LCD screen. The ‘editor’ is very basic and won’t let you do much.

Pads like that are ugly, just functional and very capable. But how did Korg manage to come out with something uglier???
Very bad and poor design octopad...

Jokes on you. I love cheap samples like helicopter and glas beaking sounds 🤣
