The clarinet and flutes are mellow wind instruments, the oboes and bassoons are rustic woodwinds, and the horns always serve to blend in the differences or serve as a bass.
Wow, what an interesting find! He also orchestrated a ricercare by Bach. Needless to say, Orchestration was one of Webern's forte(s).
