    The way Bungie tells Destiny's story is amazing, but also sad. Not allowed to go back and see the things you missed in seasons or events. It's unfair. Yeah, it makes us, veterans or lucky ones, special. But at what cost? New players getting confused and oblivious towards the story. Not gonna lie, I feel sad everytime I think about this.

    • @thiccforehead5630
      @thiccforehead5630 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I agree with this but over time I’ve began to realize that’s part of the magic when it comes to Destiny, just like real life, not every one was alive or around to experience certain events. A lot of New Lights don’t understand the significance of the black fleet being so close either, but we do. We get to share those experiences and stories with them and pass them down. It feels real, and it’s the only community I’ve been a part of where I genuinely feel part of a living world. Gathering with others to talk about the next move the darkness might make, or how characters in our world are shifting, and the importance of every new detail we find about new or old characters. While it does suck that they’ll never get to experience it first hand, it creates a completely different type of experience.

      @@thiccforehead5630 It'd be fun if Xur had a special item in his collection which you could acquire after some hidden quest, allowing you to "time travel". I know, that's some Avengers Endgame bullshit, but imagine this scenario:
      You suddenly appear on the top of a mountain, dizzy. You start to walk towards the top, as you hear explosions from far away. As you reach it, you see The Last City burning, surrounded by Cabal ships just like in Red War. You make your way down, jumping from rock to rock, as all the sudden you spot a thick fog blocking your path forcing you to use your Ghost's light to see through. As you do, you notice a figure ahead, someone familiar. You follow the mysterious figure through the rocky path as silently as you could. As the fog fades away, you stop. The figure's gone, as if they just vanished as soon as they soon as they noticed your presence. You knew very deep inside, that you knew who that was, but couldn't put your finger on it. As the camera rises above your character, ascending towards space. "Destiny 2 - The Final Shape".

I knew that this is only one story mission and probably rest of them won't be so epic, but pure magic that came to me from that one single moment in the game made me buy it against all odds. And maybe it is the fact that the rest of the main story missions (i didn't tried DLC's yet, because of rerolling to Hunter after completing it with Warlock) ain't so epic (maybe beside the one when you get back to The City on the rooftops etc.) but I definetly regret nothing :D And will gladly delete my Titan over and over again just to replay this mission (at this moment, I'm not much interested in that class).

      @@bepisaxe4464I think the main problem of the Red War was the state of gameplay at the time i.e. The double primary meta, slow movement, ammo economy and most importantly, it's audience.
      For many D1 veterans, I can see why Ghaul would be considered a step down from some of the villains like Oryx, SIVA, etc. However, as someone who picked up the game just after the release of Forsaken after a friend begged me to get it so I could play with him, I was genuinely and truly captivated from start to finish by the Red War. I'd never even seen the Traveller before, but I could still feel the severity of it's absence and I enjoyed building my character up from scraps to finish the fight against Ghaul with a boss fight I enjoyed thoroughly.
      And while it may true that my nostalgia for those highs could be blinding me to the duller moments, it's something I wish new players could experience instead of the pathetic excuse for a New Light "Campaign" we have.

    This mission and song were one of the most emotional, compelling and immersing story missions in any videogame i have ever played. The way it went from quiet, and ambient with the cabal patrolling to the emotional turn with starting a new journey was just beyond amazing. Its a shame that the base campaign (which was great in my opinion) along with this gem of a mission will forever be vaulted. It is truly one of my favorite memories

    Even if we absolutely demolished him in the campaign, we gotta give him credit where its due.

    I feel as if bungie needs to go back to doing single player campaigns where these moments feel even more powerful. They really should do a new IP with the story akin to Halo reach and Dunkirk, where the player is constantly up against overwhelming odds with the only goal becoming just to survive and pray you can hold back the enemy long enough. I hope that they do something like that. And of course using epic music like this to set the tone.

Now it's just a memory that we can look back on in bittersweet. I just wish the new lights got to experience this. The music, the ambience, the sense of being powerless and alone. It was perfect. No matter how much hate this game got this opening is still one of the best in gaming hands down.

    Is funny how the music was supposed to start as soon as you reawaken in the plaza but the music starts at the exit of the city... it's a glitch but if I remember correctly either the designers or players (most likely players) liked it so much they just kept it that way.

    I think the sound design in battle is done incredibly well. The fact that all the gunshots and howls get echoed and distorted make me feel disoriented, like my Guardian's adrenaline is pumping.
    It's because, for the first time since being resurrected...they're afraid. Scared to die for good. Their heart is pounding in their ears because they've never entered a fight not expecting to win.
    Amazingly designed section for one of the best campaigns in Destiny 2.
