Great video sir ! I am a Latino who practices Norse paganism (particularly Vanatru) and from my time practicing I never had a problem with any of the terms to describe the religion. Though a proper name for it would be ideal and beneficial for anyone who is following, And Heathenry definitely seems to fit the bill !

Also a Latino that practices Norse paganism. Well I don't really pray or perform rituals but I follow the mythos closely and learn from it.

Not trying to be a jerk, but why not your own "Pagan" religion ?
A major part of "Germanic" Heathenry, Paganisn, whatever label you use (of which Norse is but one branch), is Ancestor veneration.
So by practicing a religion not of your own ancestry, you cut out a massive chunk of what
      it is all about.
I've studied many religions, particularly eastern mediation. But I never adopted a faith that was not mine.
      Food for thought.

The gods aren't in our DNA, they are gods, the vast majority of most peoples recent ancestors will be christians so should we all be christians? Plus, if you're in America you're almost guaranteed to be a mut like me. Can I only venerate African, Slavic, and Germanic deities? No celtic ones for me? What paganism should I follow by that logic. The gods call to whoever they want to. Not because of some genetic link that binds them to people

The word Asatru is is from the 19th century, it was a Swedish association called the Götiska Förbundet that created that term. It is a general term for the Old Norse religion. However, the word can be traced back to Snorre's Edda and the word "trúa á Æsirs".
The word Asatru is as commonly used here in Scandinavia as the word heathenry.
Asatru has been used since the 19th century as a name for the Old Norse religion, however, it has been used more and more by academics, religious historians, historians, archaeologists etc. during the last 20 years.

They're the same religion. Heathendom and Ásatrú ultimately derive from Forn Átrúnaðr or the (Norse) Old Religion.

I think it fair to point out that many don't like to use the term Àsatrú in the US because of hateful bigoted groups like the Àsatrú folk assembly also known as the AFA. I'm very on guard when I meet someone who uses the term Àsatrú describe their beliefs. It's unfortunate because hatred and bigotry have no place in any form of paganism but that's life.

    • @egillivaldason7238
      @egillivaldason7238 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Under what historical context? People should have the right to bear their own beliefs so long as they don't harm anyone. There is no such heathen text making such a decree that quotes "hatred and bigotry have no place in heathenry". It's a modern term that is incompatible with the old faith.

But a group that is anti interracial marriage, claims the gods are in their white DNA, anti adoption because you can't be sure of the child's ancestry, anti gay marriage, and who regularly quote the 14 words should be condemned despite their religious views

Is should be called the old Norse folk religion just as a lot of Asian polytheistic religions are called folk religions not even paganism should be used anymore to make us look more like them.

Please bow your head and say this prayer now 🙏
"Carry our prayers up to Gods throne, that
the mercy of the Lord may quickly come
and lay hold of the beast,
    the serpent of old, Satan
    and his demons, casting him
in chains into the abyss, so that
he can no longer seduce the nations.
    Thank you for everything
    CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE,
    LORD GOD. Amen." 🙏🙏
🙏 If you can't look and remember the words, just read and pray them while you have your head bowed and your hands in front of your face 🙏☺
