  • In the remote Northeast of Madagascar, high up in the treetops of the rainforest live one of the most endangered species of lemurs, the Silky Sifaka. Thought to only be between 300 and 2,000 left in the world, these elusive lemurs are struggling with habitat loss as illegal logging of the ancient Rosewood trees is prevalent in their native home. One primatologist,
Erik, has been studying and following their lives for over 10 years in the hopes to prevent their extinction.

Wish there were more Madagascar documentaries like this that specifically focus on just one species of lemur. It's hard to find a good documentary on lemurs.

Why doesn’t someone, government or whatever step in and stop the logging?? This is very disturbing!

Remember we have a part in it. Demand. We like nice things without knowing what work or where things came from to make it happen.

The narration is a bit wrong.
    3.40
Instead of specifying Silky Sifakas, the narrator should have said LEMURS when stating they are among the most primitive of primates.
    3.55
Gibbons DO NOT have any tail to be prehensile.

Before humans arrived from southeast Asia and colonised Madagascar, the island had many species of giant lemurs and of course the elephant bird.

This is heartbreaking. These people are destroying their own culture indigenous lands & wildlife. Ignorance is a disease that must be cured. Money materialism consumption will be our own undoing & demise.

The negative parts always get to me. It's hard to get them out of my mind in order to enjoy the video. I wish I didn't do that to myself. Those lemurs are so cute. xoxo

Beautiful creatures, well documented along with the human actions that so endanger them. Some of their food sources may be used for medicinal properties. I wonder if the human race will figure out in time how important each endangered species is to our own dependence on the balance of Nature for survival.🖤🇨🇦

I love all of them 💕 💓 💗 ❤️ 💛 💜! I've never seen these before at any of the Zoos that are helping with breeding indangered species like you see all over the United States and other countries. Why is that? Why aren't there any pairs in Zoos?

This type of harvesting needs to be made illegal and prosecution needs to to stiff for all those involved. Plus if money is the main driving force than alternatives need to be found. It is past time we stop raping mother earth due to greed.
