The money given to Ukraine by the US would be under the condition that it was spent on US weapons. And Trump saying "you got to pay your bills" is irony at the highest level. • @craigfinnegan8534
      @craigfinnegan8534 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Same here in the US - Trump lives to screw small businesses, which he despises as weak. That psychology is why Trump is so desperate to become president again - it's wrapped up in his fantasy of his male potency...which in turn in wrapped up in his self-worth... which in turn is why he and Putin get along so well. They're partners not just in crime, but in pathological insecurity.

I don't think the issue is that simple. A reasonable president who wanted other NATO nations to pay their fair share for defense would say, "If you don't pay, we can't guarantee that we'll be able to help you when Russia targets your country." That would have been sensible. That would have made the point for most leaders pretty easily.
The problem is that Trump said he'd *encourage* Russia to attack NATO nations who lapse on defense spending. Given the very long, very combative history between the US and Russia, for a president to say he'd encourage Russia to attack nations we are ostensibly in alliances with is the problem. Trump could have easily made this point in a more measured, controlled response - instead, his words didn't just chastise those member nations, but he threatened them too.
Maybe he WAS just trying to make a political point, but it's a very clumsy and very dangerous sentiment he's expressing. Russia is an enemy nation actively working to undercut and weaken not just the United States, but any partnership that the US is a part of. Putin wants to cripple America in more ways than one. I think the problem is that Trump was offering solace and support to Russia at the same time he was trying to offer stern condemnation to American allies.

The issue identified by the original poster isn't how he said something; It's the fact that this disinformation is peddled by organisations that are meant to inform us.

@@Rn-pp9et Why does he need to offer hyperbole on matters of such immense foreign and domestic importance? To the news media, no less? Why can't he just say what he means? The excuse he's given in the past for these types of answers is usually some variation of, "I was just kidding when I said that. I was being sarcastic. I was poking fun at the liberal news media."
Hyperbole is an exaggeration of the truth, and while it's not the type of thing that destroys lives, it feels...unnecessary. The guy was already president once. His base is loyal. So again, I wonder, why does he have to gain from exaggeration on this particular issue? If the media won't give him a fair shake, as he says, how does hyperbole not just make things worse? I'm genuinely asking. Maybe you see something I don't.
I am, however, reminded of what happened after Trump's pow wow with Putin in Helsinki. That was when he stood next to Putin and told the assembled news media that Russia denied involvement in the meddling of American affairs. He said President Putin denied interference in American affairs: "I'll tell you this - I don't see any reason why it would be?" And then the next day he told the news media that no, actually, what he meant to say was that he didn't see any reason why it *wouldn't* be Russia, and that he deliberately used the wrong word because he believed it would rile up the liberals (I believe he also said it was a typo too?). Sorry, long-winded way to simply say I don't think any head of state (even a potential one) benefits from muddying the information pool, so to speak. Well, maybe some do, but that's usually in service to their own political ends. Appreciate your insights either way.

@@blackpajamas6600 “Why does he need to offer hyperbole on matters of such immense foreign and domestic importance?”
It’s literary device to emphasise a point that he was making during their meeting.
“To the news media, no less?”
This was a hypothetical questions asked of him directly and he was retelling this to his supporters during one his rallies.
“Why can't he just say what he means?”
Anyone with a triple digit IQ knew what he meant. The only people falling for this mis/dis information job are people being misinformed by the mainstream media that are too lazy to watch the whole video.
“Hyperbole is an exaggeration of the truth, and while it's not the type of thing that destroys lives, it feels...unnecessary.”
Hyperbole is not just an exaggeration of the truth, it’s an exaggeration of anything to emphasise a point.
“So again, I wonder, why does he have to gain from exaggeration on this particular issue?”
To encourage NATO allies to modernise and expand their military capabilities and not just rely on US military posture. The very agenda of the NATO meeting?
“If the media won't give him a fair shake, as he says, how does hyperbole not just make things worse?”
The media has been lying about him since he announced his candidacy in 2016. Do you still think anyone believes that Trump is a KGB agent with a hot line to Vladimir Putin as was reported? The American and other Western news media is a joke. Trump realises they’re no longer needed as nobody trusts them. YT reporting and news channels have more viewers than any main stream news broadcast and there’s a reason for that.

What evidence do you think exists or rather in what capacity do you think they are capable of interfering in US affairs? Outside of Facebook ads what do you think are their capabilities?
