The starter singer is Voiceplay's newest member, Cesar De La Rosa. He brings the feels.
Anthony Gar-jool-ya is the young blond lad, their guest artist. Geoff is the Bass, Layne is the Beatboxer. He also has a sweet singing voice and other talents.
Eli is the bald Tenor and he also arranged this.

VoicePlay's lineup is always tricky to explain because yes, they've had a number of changes over the years since they began posting videos on TH-cam. Let's break it down like this: the three member that you will always see are Geoff ("Jeff") Castellucci- bass, Layne Stein- vocal percussion and baritone and Other Things, and Eli (rhymes with "jelly") Jacobson, tenor and resident rock god (he's the bald fellow with glasses). When they began posting on TH-cam, Earl Elkins Jr. (the stocky fellow with the laser-like, super high tenor) was their tenor I (Eli sang tenor 2 then) and Tony Wakim was their baritone. Then he became more interested in video production, opened a video production studio with Layne, and that- Pattycake Productions- is now where many of VoicePlay's videos are filmed. After Tony, J. None took over as baritone- he's the black gentleman with the buttery, soulful vocals who you heard in Tennessee Whiskey and I Can't Help Falling in Love. He sang with the group for about 5 years until he joined the US Navy to sing with them (that's where he currently is, although he tends to feature with VoicePlay regularly whenever he's available). By then Earl had also left the group for personal reasons, but shortly after J's departure, Cesar De La Rosa (the breathy bari-tenor who started and ended this song) joined the group, bringing their number back up to four. Whenever VoicePlay are short members, they use feature artists to round out the group and they are very, very good at not only choosing fantastic singers with which to collaborate, but also really letting them shine. They are also super skilled at making it sound like whoever is joining them has been with them forever. That said, they do have several recurring features that you will likely see a bit of as you dive deeper- Rachel Potter, Ashley Diane, Adrainna Arellano, Deejay Young and Omar Cardona are just a handful of names that come to mind from that list.

Voiceplay will always pay homage to the original, but will never do a cookie cutter arrangement. Geoff has said, Why do something that someone else has already done?"
Usually they put the featured artist in the center but Eli had a trick up his sleeve. He has been doing their lights and effects for years. In this one, my favorite part is the Run, Run, Run. Eli is at the center, conducting the lights. It's brilliant!
    And it's Gar-JOO-lah

Loved your reaction, thanks. This was arranged by Eli, the rock metal tenor. A couple of years ago he arranged a delicious version of Eleanor Rigby - now this - and Layne recently mentioned in an interview that Eli will be joining them on a regular basis as the third arranger. They still plan to drop 1 performance a month, but this will make it more manageable. I LOVE his arrangements, so I'm excited. (Liked/subscribed)

Our lead off was Cesar De la Rosa, Anthony G was next. After him was Geoff, then Eli was batting clean up. (Eli also arranged this one).
Cesar came in to the group after J None left for the Navy. Cesar brings the sass and the feels. That's on display in their cover of "I Can't Make You Love Me." I think you'd like that one. ❤

Suggestions for the rest of the week: "Dragonborn Comes" from Skyrim will give you an idea why we refer to them as the 'Theater Kids of Acapella' - warning since you have 'bass boost' the beginning notes are very bass heavy. or "Hoist the Colours" from 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. An older (with the same guys you saw in the first two songs) 'theatrical piece' go for "Queen in 5 Minutes". Be sure to read the blurbs when they come up on the screen as they explain just who they are portraying.
For amazing beatboxing from Layne, go with "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes or "Enemy" by Imagine Dragons. For spectacular mashups, I suggest the "Panic in 4 Minutes" (in 2 parts) of Panic in the Disco songs. And for out and out EPIC, you must do "Valhalla Calling" a song by Miracle of Sound. He gave them 10 out of 10 Raised Alehorns for it. Another one to watch the heavy bass on. But also one where you really get to see Eli (rhymes with jelly) and his rock tenor really shine. You got a glimpse of it in "Creep". And J None is back with them on that one. They like to have him join back with them whenever he can get leave from the Navy. He was the 2nd singer in "Tennessee Whiskey".

It is so hard to narrow down VP's list to a few favorites because they have so many and such variety.
    I ,personally, absolutely love:
    Queen in 5 minutes
    Boy Bands in 5 minutes
    Phantom of the Opera
Panic at the Disco (parts 1 & 2) (goes with Trapped)
Love on Top (from the sing off days)
Warriors (Dream on & 7 Nation Army)
Valhalla Calling (Hoist the Colours & My Mother Told Me)
    7 Nation Army
    Enemy
    Sleeping in the Cold Below
    Dragon Born Comes
    Don't talk about Bruno
    Wicked Medley
    If I were a Rich man/girl
    Get Back up Again
    Hall of the Mountain King
🫡 and that is trying to narrow it down 😂😂😂😂😂
    Enjoy your journey.
I will be very interested in seeing what your favorite is in the end 🤔

    A few things...
Must see VP songs are Metallica cover, Nothing Else Matters, and Valhalla Calling.
You need a VP Halloween reaction week
The bass singer (Geoff Castellucci) has his own TH-cam channel where multiple "Geoff"s harmonise some great songs like Ain't No Sunshine, Country Road Take Me Home, and from The Hobbit, Far Over the Misty Mountains and I See Fire

No, he's not Anthony Gargiula (Garh-geeu-lah). In order of appearance here are:
    - Cesar de La Rosa, news addition to their lineup;
    - Anthony Gargiula, he collaborated with them in some recent videos and has a great voice.
    - Geoff Castellucci, bass
    - Eli Jacobson, tenor and rock God of Asgard (you'll understand why in another video 😁)
    - of course Layne Stein, beatboxer
    See you next time!
PS: Always let the Patreon list run on a VP video: sometimes they put some easter egg, BTS scenes, or special messages at the very end. 🙂

Gar-jewl'-ah. The group is 4 members, the fifth is a guest vocalist. Cesar was the first singer here, Anthony, Layne (beatboxer), Geoff, Eli. To me, this is the best version.

    @EtherealForever 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Layne (beatboxer) and Geoff (Bass) usually do the bulk of the arrangements, but Eli (resident Rock God) did this one and did a phenomenal job. Cesar and Anthony bring the feels. Enjoying your journey!🌹🕊 PS: You might also enjoy Queen in 5 mins and the trilogy (Billie Eilish in 3mins, Panic at the Disco 1 1&2 (4 and 2 mins)) - should be watched in order. VP is the most theatrical of the a cappella groups - all these tell a story!

This has never been a favorite song of mine. For some reason it just really gives me stalker vibes. Where other people hear desperation I hear anger and it is very unsettling. But this version is very introspective and reflective and as a confirmed introvert it really speaks to me. It’s amazing how one song can be interpreted so many ways and how one interpretation can affect people in so many different ways.
Thoroughly enjoying your VoicePlay week. I hope they’ll make a regular rotation in your schedule and you might consider doing Geoff’s solo channel as one of your new artists. He’s got some phenomenal stuff. You’ll have to leave the bass boost off😊.
Since you do like those bass tones you might also consider a fairly new group (The Bass Gang )who often has collaborations. It’s made up of four bass singers who had not met in the three years that they’d been collaborating via the Internet. Earlier this year three of them were able to get together. Two live in the US, one in the Czech Republic and one in Egypt. Their collaboration with Jonathan Young on their cover of Centuries is a favorite of mine.

The fella at the start and end is Cesar De La Rosa. Apart from VoicePlay's habit of swapping out guest vocalists virtually every month, he's particularly hard to keep track of because he often changes his look fairly drastically--in many of their videos he'll let his glorious curls floof around his head, or he may tie them back or (rarely so far) braid them like he did here, and he may wear a long, short or no beard trimmed in different ways. The big brown eyes are hard to miss though, unless he's wearing theatrical contacts, and of course his voice is unique.

The arrangement was completely genius. It’s always been a song that resonated with me, especially the second verse. I listened to this a lot when Radiohead dropped this & even though I’ve known the story behind the song since the jump, I interpreted it differently. This arrangement really gave it that raw, vulnerable, more internalized struggle that I always felt the lyrics conveyed in my mind. When they are at the end of the intense climax, you hear Caesar sing (starts at around 5:09) “oh she’s running, I’m a creep, run, run” behind Eli & Anthony. Something about that just hits my heart every time I hear it. It fits so perfectly with the internal struggle/mirrored messages. It reinforces how we push people away because we don’t think we’re special or good enough & we don’t want to bother others with our pathetic selves. Sorry for the novel, I just absolutely love this cover. It just encapsulated what I’ve always imagined in my head when hearing this song.
Also, last year there were two covers of “Creeep” that were absolutely epic as well. Tom Ball did his version on ‘America’s Got Talent’ & it was absolutely breathtaking. Pentatonix also has a sang it when they were on the ‘Masked Singer’ & it was amazing.

It's pronounced as Garjoola, but that's ok. :). His voice is angelic. This arrangement was by Eli. The first singer in this is Cesar de la Rosa the newest member of VP who joined them in 2021 when J.None left to sing with the US navy music section. Anthony is the second singer, then Geoff, then Eli. Layne is beatboxer and doesn't sing in this one. As I've said before, they always bring the emotion. I am a patron but at a lower level than those mention.
