Hey why don't you tell people that big us universities like MIT ,HARVARD , PRINCETON ,YALE ,NYU , CALTECH, other IVY leagues don't require IELTS or TOEFL if you have studied for 4 or 5 Years in English medium school in a non native English speaking country ( like INDIA ). People can definitely stop wasting 18000 rupees (for IELTS ) . Stop the rumours like if you get good score in IELTS you will get scholarship . Also please update your videos about undergrad admission since SAT 2 is discontinued due to more availability of APs so they should give some of those Instead . I am giving this information because I mailed many universities about this.
I think my answer is too late but I can help for future students ( since even I can't give some the exams which I mention age limits ) for getting into Mit . Mit is a need blind University. Sat - Try to get somewhere b/w 1500 to 1600( see college board website) Act : alternative to SAT just try to get somewhere around 33 to 35( check the data on Mit website ) Sat subject test - discontinued( alternatives are APs , IBs , A level ,O levels choose any one of these ) AP score - give 6/7 APs with all scores ≥4 and try to get as many fives as you can .Taking ap you challenge yourself for college studies + you get some college credits ( to save your money ) IBs and A levels I really don't remember what is the procedure but still 6/7 of those exams TOEFL / IELTS : IF YOU WANT YOU CAN GIVE IT BUT ITS NOT REQUIRED (5 yrs in English medium school) . Cheaper alternative Duolingo test ( DET if you insist on taking the exam anyway). Just check official websites and take the test if don't have anything else to show on resume Give some regional olympiads like Ntse , NSTSE , SOFs (imo ,nso ,ieo ) ( all india rank within 100 if possible) Give some internationally accepted tests like IMO , IPHO ,IAO ( international astronomy olypiad); IBO etc. These exams generally have 4/5 stages which you to qualify. At least a gold or silver medal . ( Just makes your resume strong and nothing else) Also there is some exam called american mathematics olympiad which can given ( I seriously don't Know but heard of it). From what I have researched on how to get into Mit maths olympiad are rated Higher than others . Check age limits for these olympiads The most important thing is who you are. Jee , neet or any other exams which you have taken or will take can be mentioned in your resume but they actually have very little affect but still worth mentioning Taking part in extracurricular activities which actually matters to you and if you are a sports person represent your state or district in whichever sport you play . Take part in summer programs of universities like yale , mit , harvard ,etc not to impress them but to gain knowledge and use that knowledge Take part in community services or ngos to get certificates ( but these are difficult to get these days due to pandemic so keep yourself safe) Going to Mit is not a privlege but you have responsibility towards the world . There you go through a transition from student to scholar . Try to get in contact with the professor who is working in your field of interest . Try feel Mit / any other university which you are applying . Don't Just decide a university by just looking at it's ranking, imagine yourself as part of the institution and see whether it will be the best fit for you . Prepare for an interview just in case . Don't try to be someone who you are not . Being yourself is more important than any scores which you report ( by writing honest SOPs ) Try get some good recommendation letter from 2/3 teachers or principal or counsellor . ( Just check the website ). Note Mit is not just a merit based University . The admission process is holistic review . Note : cons Many students of mit complain about workloads . Pros I can study whatever subjects you like . So this means nobody can say for sure if you will get accepted in Mit .
