Watching this back I feel like I was much more pessimistic on the movie than I meant to come off. I want to add context to my statements about the presentation of the film: I thought it was incredibly special what they were able to pull off. Genuinely marvelous and awesome. And of course the look of the film was amazing as well. I only touched on the cinematography in regards to its unique quality of being in first person, but I completely neglected to mention that the actual 'look' of the film was amazing. The color and the lighting and the framing were literally so beautiful. I am not much of a technically minded person - I think that's pretty evident through the quality of my videos - so I can't describe in detail what I loved about the cinematography, but it was genuinely gorgeous.
I also always want it to be clear that I don't want people to take my opinions too seriously, especially when I've only seen a film once. It's pretty much impossible to get a holistic opinion on any piece of art when you've only been exposed to it for a short amount of time. I'm certain there's a lot of small details and directorial choices that I would notice and appreciate on repeat viewings, and certain things I struggled with might prove less challenging. Ultimately, I just wanted to clarify that this was a fantastic film and one that I think everyone should do their best to check out before it leaves theaters.
