they improved the overall detail, clutter, and scope of the open world tremendously. all the little details they've added add up to a big improvement visually
Some more insights of the combat from a recent dev interview: *Improved action optimization:* The actions of all player characters and enemies have been significantly optimized, resulting in smoother controls when operating characters during combat. Additionally, battle camera angles have been improved accordingly. *Completely revamped skill system:* Skills no longer require manual target selection. Instead, the entire team now shares a skill resource, which regenerates over time and through combat actions. Players need to strategize during battles and decide which character’s skill is most suitable for the current situation. *Introduction of a brand-new combat mechanic: Combo Skills:* When the conditions for triggering a combo skill are met, players can command the corresponding squad members to unleash a combo attack. Each character has unique conditions for activating their combo skill, such as landing a heavy strike, enemies entering a debuffed state, multiple enemies being broken simultaneously, and so on. *Dodging through sprinting:* Characters can now dodge enemy attacks by sprinting, adding more flexibility to combat. You can find a detailed breakdown on the "Endfield" subreddit.
There's also this interesting answer to the question: "Will the AIC (base building) system be too heavy for an Anime multi-platform game?" Answer: There seems to be a growing notion that "anime mobile game players" are gradually paying less attention to and discussing *gameplay*. This is likely the result of market trends over a long period and doesn’t necessarily mean that players don’t want or enjoy new gameplay experiences. Continuously updating and exploring fresh, interesting gameplay has always been one of our core principles, starting with Arknights, and we’ve been committed to this ever since. With Endfield, the "Integrated Industry" system offers a high degree of expandability, laying a solid foundation for future gameplay innovations. You just asked, "Will it feel too heavy?" I’d say that the potential audience for such gameplay is actually quite large. Successful examples like Factorio, Dyson Sphere Program, and industrial mods in Minecraft have all been validated by the market. The key lies in whether enough effort has been put into it-whether the learning curve is reasonable and whether players can enjoy a smooth onboarding experience. Endfield will continue to optimize this system to lower its entry barriers, making it easier for players to grasp what we believe is genuinely fun. After all, we must first create something we ourselves enjoy, and then we hope the players will enjoy it too. TLDR Translation: they dgaf about gacha brainrot and are in business of making good GAMES. Absolutely based.
Actually Arknights is much more into animal ears ( Kemonomimi ) in Japanese term. In OG Arknights, we have over 330+ character and character that are furry are only 6 and 2 of them are rather a scally ( lizard people). As you can see the ratio. It just people being overreact and they're the louder one.
I feel like people focus too much on the combat. I believe that, based on how little they show in the trailers, the focus is much more on the Base and Story. Even the endfield channel on youtube never uses the term "Action" when describing the game.
I'm excited for the base building aspect, but I disagree with the notion that combat shouldn't be focused on. These are gachas at the end of the day, i.e., character collectors. There needs to be tangible reasons to pull for new units beyond just looks.
@kingsimba9513 Apologies, I did not express myself properly. I DO agree that the combat shouldn't be ignored, I just feel like too many people are looking at this game as if it were like WuWa or Genshin where Combat is the primary focus, while I believe that in the case of this game it seems like HG is focused first on the basebuilding, and then the combat. It just pains me to see all the comparisons to these other games.
@@xhydrox wait, I never heard anyone talk about ZZZ's UI being bad. Like, there's many people (including me) that hop on to ZZZ just because of its Persona-esque UI and vibes
Yea I see the hold they are talking about, it just goes by fast. Just as a note names in og arknights were just codenames most the time, so its possible surtr wasnt her real name its also possible that there is lore behind why she is named something different here. Angelina and Gilberta on another word I think in the last test 'Gilberta' was having an identity crisis cause they looked and had the same memories or something. Things mightve changed though. On the topic of Lancet 2 she is shown as the healing building you can place.
Also, I don't know the specifics, but Laevateinn is a mythological weapon from Norse Mythology crafted by Loki, so that's likely where her current name comes from.
Agree, the one thing that held me back on playing wuwa all the way was no console release at the start, my old ass PC definitely cannot handle these games and I want to chill at the couch when playing.
HG has been pretty consistent in always doing two betas, with a massive period of radio silence between them and the second one being pretty close to the games release. However the first one was a tech test, which is basically a pre alpha so idk if it will count. You could be playing it kinda soon regardless
@fogheta Thanks for the information! I'm not familiar with this company, but what they've done here is spectacular! There are no factorio and satisfactory like games on PS, so this will definitely dominate that market there
Ngl, this is giving me old school MMORPG vibes. Certainly a departure from the more flashy open world gacha games that we're waiting on like NTE and Ananta... but it doesn't look as bad as I initially thought.
This is my last chance for open world gacha games. Im familiar with Arknights setting, i even played the first game. But after i drop wuwa, i realize this type of games is not for me. I just want there are not many things such as running around the map and collect some shit like chests, bells, etc. And all the resources of the open world can be obtained automatically using factories. And i hope you can travel around the world even faster than wuwa ( i dont ever play genshin to compare, but this shit is even slower )
You’ll be able to set up those ziplines around the world after you explore the area initially, so you’ll still have to explore the world first for stuff, but at least you can set up your own traversal route after so collecting won’t be super tedious like Genshin and WuWa. And it seems like after exploring, you’re able to set up base/factories in key areas and are able to have some type of passive material collecting device, such as mining rigs, water pipes, etc., which we’ve seen in this trailer and previous ones. So in terms of an open world game, you’ll still have to explore the world before you can start passively gather resources. There will probably chests, puzzles, and other hidden stuff you can find, but that is to be expected in an open world game.
