Hey guys, Guiden here. This video is a bit outdated. Since it's release over two years ago there have been a handful of balance changes, new features to existing weapons and new weapons all together. The spirit of each weapon is still represented pretty well but you may find some information on key perks of some weapons are missing or weapons missing all together. Thanks for watching.
I've created a "berserker" class with no armour at all, the battle axe, bloodlust, that perk that makes you sprint after you get a kill and couple of other minor perks. It can work so well, and can be really quite fun. I tried with the war axe as the war axe's stats just look like it'd be a better weapon to me, but I think I've found more success with the battle axe when using it's alt and getting in close and running through the enemy lines. Relying on mobility to survive is really difficult, but can be so fun
Of note: I'm fairly certain the Battle Axe has the HIGHEST wood damage in the game. Last I checked, it was at 50. This makes it amazing for destroying OBJ's and toolbox buildings alike. Also very good for those pesky doors.
I love these guides. Actually helps me understand the differences between weapons. The shield guide was a big help. It would be awesome to see a perk guide to explain the viability and roles of each perk.
Regular axe stab is the quickest attack in the game I believe, almost impossible to block while in a combo, and it's very easy to catch enemies in a sort of "stun lock" where they try to block it frantically yet the timing on the stabs fuck them over, forcing them to take at least one or two more hits to recuperate
Hey, I made those choices since the heavy hand axe behaves like the other traditional axes outside of its unique features. The poleaxe behaves more like a halberd than a war or battle axe so thats why I categorized them the way I did. Thanks for the question.
The axe, as in the small axe, with light armour and bloodlust is a great build for flanking and picking apart the enemy from behind. I made it to bully archers amd found it to be super effective as a scout/flank build
The battle axe's range has always felt very strange to me, so i struggle to hit with it, at least with the maul or war axe I know I need to be basically touching the guy. With the battle axe I feel like plenty of my attacks that should be in range just fly past, and then i get our ranged to death by zwei, greatsword, longsword etc.
Honestly I've had amazing success in 1vx with the heavy handaxe while I feel it is hard to fight duels with it against people who are abusing the long windup by acceling a lot.
The war axe is overtuned. Like you said, simulair damage if not more than the exe sword. "But the exe sword is longer" yeah but the war axe is alot faster and has weird animations which makes up for that, and on top of that it costs 2 less than the exe sword and is arguably better. Which it shouldn't be.
Wish they would just remove the feints, and just add a block gauge. That way you can only block so much. I just really hate feints, for honor did the same thing and it kinda ruined the game for me. You always get people who just abuse the shit out of it, and it really just saps out all the fun of the awesome game.
@@karasins "get good?" I never said i was bad haha, all i said is feints are fucking stupid and completely unrealistic. Nor do they require any "skill" to use. Anyone who had actually sparred or duel knows fients make zero sense in sword play.
"this frenkentrein'ish weapon can repair structures" So it's good at both destroying AND repearing them? Damn' that's super cool for support players. Imagine a spy rendeing the ennemy's structures unusable then falling back to repair whatever was damaged in their own side now that a siege isn't viable and the ennemy have no other choice than pressing forward.
While true, the poleaxe has functions and uses more aligned with the polearm family rather than the Axe one which is why I opted to have it in a polearm video instead i.e. can be couched, significantly long than the other axes, hammer side better vs armor, literally on a pole. But yea I get what you mean. It's the same dilemma with the ES since it's basically a 2H polearm/mace. Thanks for watching!
I'm about 90% sure that they invented that thing just as a "fuck you" to people attempting to form categories :^) But it is considered a polearm, which makes sense

I was able to make a norsemen with a recurve bow, Battle axe, Gjormundbu helmet and light armor. It's awesome for frontline

I realized that if you keep "stabbing" people with axes, it's very hard for them to block and riposte as the axe "stabbing" animation is JANKY AS HELL
Its broken as shit in so many anims.

The heavy handaxe is sort of a jack-of-all-traits axe.

What would you recommend, war axe with dagger or just battle axe. They cost the same so it should be a close decision.

The battle axe is my favorite weapon by far. I consistently do really good with it
