In my experience living both in Australia & New Zealand(for 10 years) , I'd say Australia is much better choice financially & emotionally. Don't get me wrong, New Zealand is a beautiful place to live. However as an Indian Tamil, I choose to live closer to India where possible. I can talk about Western Australia as I haven't lived in any other place. Living in Perth would be ideal as the weather is not that bad. It is almost like India without the humidity. Wherever you go, the place is air conditioned. Perth is ideal for raising a family. There are really good schools around. You can get better deals for flights to & fro Chennai/Trichy. The flying time is considerably less compared to NZ(like 10 hours from Perth to Chennai/Trichy compared to 20 hours from NZ to Chennai(no options to Trichy)). Housing can be a challenge in Australia as they require rental history and so forth but if you manage to get your first one , you should be fine. The rents may feel expensive, but trust me lot less than a place like Wellington/Auckland in NZ. If saving money is your motive, Living in regional Australia gives you a lot of financial benefits. If your family grows and you want to travel on a budget, Australia is ideal. It also gives you options of travelling at least once a year. Whereas in New Zealand it would like once in 2 years(Due to the cost). Racism can be felt sometimes in Australia but I have experienced worse in India due to religion, color & hierarchy. In New Zealand, occasional racism may be felt but it is not outright. Better options of food for Indian palate. If you want a typical Tamil/ South Indian restaurant it would be hard to find one in New Zealand. Most Indian restaurants serve Butter Chicken, Chicken tikka masala & other North Indian dishes. Cost of living in New Zealand is very high, given its remote location. Price example, Tomatoes-6 to 9 NZD, Petrol- 2.5 to 3 NZD. The economy is mainly based on a few things like Dairy, Tourism & foreign students. Housing is one big topic in New Zealand. Prices are crazy that it does not match with income earned. Australian dollar gives you a better rate than New Zealand. If you get a chance to stay & work in New Zealand for a year or 2, you definitely should try that to experience New Zealand's People, beauty and the adventure it offers. However in my opinion, Australia is a win.
Thank u for the detailed info. As I have mentioned the disclaimer in the video, we truly appreciate and understand that people will have difference of opinions and this video is purely based on our own preferences, having lived and worked in Singapore for quite long. Also many thanks for supporting the facts of increased cost of living in NZ, which we have mentioned in the " Cons in NZ" with facts. Keep supporting our channel 🙂👍
