Melo was one of the first (along with lebron) that demonstrated portionless basketball at significant size. He’s also the reason a lot of players went double sleeve’s especially with the headband. That with the leg accessories made him look like a superhero. His game definitely will be missed, as a native New Yorker especially

He can get you bucket on the low block, behind the arc, off the dribble etc. I always appreciated how Melo embraced rebounding the basketball as well. A truly different skill set than most with a scoring capability like his.

In hindsight, it's much easier for me to see that in the last 15 - 20 years, Carmelo was probably the most unfairly scrutinized player in the NBA. Any team he was on that was even remotely successful never garnered him appropriate praise, and any team he was on that underachieved was blamed entirely on him. I really don't understand why.
