      Purple & Gold I understand but Lebron averaged 27 on 57% shooting & 41% from 3 that year. That type of efficiency is unheard of & still unheard of from a wing player. It don’t matter if Lebron midrange, footwork & post game wasn’t as polished as Kobe, Lebron made every shot in the paint & can shoot a 3, that’s hard to guard man

      @@Bran-Da-Don Coasting? They wouldn't have made the playoffs then. Kupchak didn't fail him, they ran into Spurs and got destroyed by a much better team. Even a rested Kobe would not be able to beat that Spurs team by himself, and they never made the playoffs again, until The King showed up...

    • @Bran-Da-Don
      @Bran-Da-Don 4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      @@The3pleThreat The reason why I said that Kupchak failed him is because he swung for the fences by trading for Dwight Howard who had just come off back surgery and a broken down Steve Nash with very little depth behind them. Kobe should not have been put in that position at 34 and in his 17th season to carry that team over the course of 70 games. It was unfair to him. Although we'll never know I would like to think that he would have aged a lot more gracefully his last 3 years if not for that injury which literally made him an old man overnight.

    I really could make this argument for his whole career but just to speak on this season itself, this is one of the greatest individual seasons in NBA history when put in proper perspective.
    - Being 33-34 with the accumulated wear and tear he was fighting through
    - The league killing the CP3 trade
    - An already failing experiment of Dwight, Nash & D'Antoni
    - Jim Buss being an idiot in every sense, proven by the aforementioned moves he made that didn't complement Kobe's game at all
    - Finally, the way the game was starting to transition to what it is now and Kobe finding his way to be impactful within it
    He persevered through way more than most even realize, largely because ppl only look at the final outcome and ignore the context of situations.

    Kobe's offensive arsenal and skill were on full display... it's a shame that he suffered that career-ending Achilles injury, there's no doubt in my mind that he would be the NBA's all-time leading scorer right now. At that time, the league had begun transitioning to an era of athleticism and youth, but Kobe had the ability to adapt his game and he still put on a show. I have NEVER seen a player excite an away crowd as Kobe did... he had the fans going NUTS in Atlanta and that was a testament to his style of play. Kobe may have been known for his mastery of the midrange, but he could SHOOT... he had range. After his Achilles injury, he adjusted his game to the perimeter since his mobility was limited and his percentage may not have been great, but if he played in today's league, I believe he would fit right in because he was such a high-volume shooter. The most complete player in the game, his ONLY flaw was his inefficiency of shot selection, but there's no other player who can make the degree of difficulty of shots that he did and that's what made him lethal.
