    Im just now started to try out rs3 after playing osrs for maybe a half a year and I think its a breeze of fresh air. I totally recommend playing them side by side so neither of them start to feel too stale like I think OSRS can start to feel after grinding for a long time.

      I can vouch for this. OSRS bosses are just about positioning and inventory management, whereas RS3 bosses require strategic use of various abilities and for you to remain aware of everything going on around you. Heck, the “strategy” for a certain few RS3 bosses is to fight them in a Legacy Combat world to make them easier even… that alone speaks volumes to the added difficulty and challenge of RS3 bosses.

    I play RS3 because the lack of time you need to invest into OSRS to get somewhere or actually get your account where you’d like it to be. Yes that’s the entire point of playing the game. But for me personally I enjoy both games, but I don’t want to sit for hours and hours either on mobile or PC skilling the old way and slow xp rates on osrs when I can afk something on rs3 and leave my phone sitting for 10 minutes. I don’t have 10 hours to spend on a game like I did back in middle school/high school. Husband, full time career, staying fit, etc. There’s absolutely no way I can “keep up” with OSRS which pushes me away because I’m a “all in or not in” type of player when it comes to games. That’s why I stick to RS3, maxed account in 1 year from 0 (shows how fast & easy it is, not saying it’s a good thing) but it satisfies my gaming needs or whatever you want to call it

    One of the biggest advantages of RuneScape 3, in my eyes, is quality-of-life. There are so many minor, little tweaks made to the mechanics and core systems of the game in RS3 that allow for a smoother user experience. Old School RuneScape still _feels_ like I’m playing a game from 2007, even though the game was released in 2013 and has been continuously updated and brought into the modern day.
    Some examples of what I mean by that include the way that inventory management does not cancel animations. If you cast the Home Teleport spell and then move items around in your inventory screen, in RS3 it will properly perform both actions at the same time. I found this helpful for when I was doing Farming runs to multiple patch types, and I needed to rearrange stuff in my inventory when returning to the bank to do the next set. This isn’t the case in OSRS; if you cast Home Teleport and then move an item, it cancels the teleport spell. You have to sit there and watch the long animation play through and take you to your destination before you can do anything else.
    This also applies to other activists and UI elements, such as browsing through a skill’s unlocks page or a quest log while chopping trees or fishing. Again, in RS3 this works perfectly fine: your character will continue performing their tasks in the background while you’re checking up on information in the UI. If you try and do this in OSRS, the player character will stop doing what they’re doing and just stand there, and you’ll be forced to close whatever information panel you’re browsing in order to start doing your task again. It’s very restrictive in a way that is entirely unnecessary and has been remedied in the other version. You can basically only perform one action at a time and you have to wait for the game to finish that action or cancel it prematurely in order to do something else. It’s tedium that’s just carried over from the old build of the game.
    Other stuff includes graphical and control settings. The actual update that made it “RuneScape 3” was the update which introduced the overhauled camera and UI, and feelings about the new UI aside, the game was improved dramatically with this update. They added a lock feature to the chat log, which allowed them to free up the ability for camera movement to be rebound to other keys besides the arrow keys, enabling WASD camera movement that’s standard in most PC games today. The camera in RS3 is also far less restricted by the developers, from what I recall, because it doesn’t do these forced angle snaps where the terrain in specific areas of the map forced the camera upwards and gives you a top-down view that you can’t change until you’re out of that section. It feels so much better to play, and you can get a much better view of your surroundings in RS3 versus OSRS when you’re out exploring the world.
    These sorts of thing may seem insignificant in the bigger picture, but they stack up over time as you run into more and more of them, as well as the frequency at which you encounter these differences. I played through a ton of RS3 as an Ironman when I got back into the game in 2021, and every time I went back to Old School I had to rewire my brain and my muscle memories to account of the limitations of OSRS. It made switching between versions a jarring experience, and that’s not great for someone like me who enjoys both games and sees strengths and weaknesses in both.

    • @Phirestar
      @Phirestar 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The bank overlay UI is another one. RS3 has a separate inventory window that is attached to the bank screen and updates visually on the client side of things. Your actual inventory is in the background and changes are made with the server like usual, leading to that thing where there’s a delay between when you click on an item to take it out of your bank and when it actually appears in your inventory. The overlaid UI acts independently of this due to it only displaying changes on your end, which means that when you click on items to add and remove them to your bank, everything in the overlay UI updates in real time: clicking on a banked item makes it appear in your “fake” inventory instantaneously, and clicking on the item again to put it back into your bank also happens right away. It doesn’t alter how the game exists, items still have to wait for the server like it always had to, but it does make the visual feedback for the player feel much more responsive, because actions occur in the bank screen at the same moment that the player performs them.
      Like I said, tiny changes like this just leading to the game having a much smoother feel. The game feels better to play as a user by having these delays and limits stripped away in order to create a game that feels like it’s from 2023 and doesn’t suffer from outdate game design from a different point in time where games were less sophisticated than they are today.

      I don’t need to play OSRS, I was there for the real thing. Nowadays I have a career that precludes me from play vidya games 24/7 and chopping a maple tree for 4 hours like I’m 12 again lol. I just want to log in and PVM or do ports or whatever. Not spend 20 years killing cows for leather. The challenge isn’t compelling because my real life is fulfilling and I don’t want to work a second job in a game. Different strokes. MTX doesn’t bother me. I see that shit and ignore it. People buying their 99s doesn’t affect me because they miss out on the experience of training some of the cool skills that OSRS doesn’t have, like archeology. id say this is very one sided more so how you enjoy Osrs more then RS3 obviously, so this was unfair to begin with, id say both games are pay 2 win, RS3 is just more openly advertised, but osrs sells gold so cheap you can basically buy the skills if your willing to train. RS3 is more DAD friendly id say, more AFKable, and more forgiving. to where OSRS needs majority of attention compared to its counterpart. RS3 i can literally AFK for 20mins and get a great experience per hour, while making millions of gold per hour, and if you want to pay more attention, you can use the seren spirit equips etc. feels more rewarding to me at least as a casual.

    The lack of mtx in osrs is a big reason that most of the community say that osrs is superior to rs3, but what they mostly fail to realize is that the only reason osrs doesn't have mtx is that rs3 does. Rs3 is acting as a shield for osrs when it comes to mtx, and I'll bet you anything that once Jagex gets sold to new investors, they are going to pressure the devs into adding mtx into osrs. Once that happens, you'll start to see a lot of osrs players either complain really hard, or migrate over to rs3. I seriously doubt very many would actually quit, since they are all too enfranchised at this point.

    Tbh if it weren't for the slow af regeneration for running in osrs I'd have mained it but after trying rs3 and finding that i can run alot and regeneration take a little i had to main it.
    Also you forgot to mention that rs3 offers the legacy interface which makes the UI exactly like osrs. So by applying thr legacy interface and the legacy combat system you really don't have anything to complain about lol.
    I don't know about the spinning wheel but having these daily keys which you earn from playing and getting some free xp lamps feels really rewarding and nice, at least for me.
    I kinda hate the ability to easy travel wherever you want without a cooldown, i kinda wish they add a cooldown to each area to travel to so you can see people running around.
    I swear these areas are always empty af.
    I personally love the osrs graphics and i wish they will give the option to have these graphics in rs3 someday like the original combat and UI they added.

    RS3's interface is not the hot mess you claim it to be. It's actually fairly easy to find everything on it and you can customize it to have any interfaces and menus you want available at all times. OSRS on the other hand has a very static interface with a lot of submenus crammed into different areas and not all of them are intuitive, not to mention the fact that you can't actually move or resize anything in the interface itself.
    Summoning wasn't hated because it was overpowered... Summoning was hated because it was poorly implemented... Combat Summons have always been weak and became even weaker with EoC... Skill summons were scattered around at seemingly random levels and offered too little benefit to be worth using... and BoBs were about the only summons worth using besides Bunyips and Unicorns for most content... and Leveling Summoning was (and still is) an absolute nightmare... and the addition of the Protect from Summons prayer rendered combat summons 100% useless PvP. At the end of the day the only summons anyone ever found useful were Tortoises, Pack Yaks, Bunyips, Unicorns, Abyssal anythings, & Steel Titans. The community has been asking for Summoning to be reworked since it was first added...
    I've been playing RS since the days of Classic... and I honestly have to say, I prefer EoC over legacy OSRS combat... there is just no challenge in legacy OSRS with the combat at all... turn on this prayer at this time, swap for that attack, step into boss to disrupt melee rotation... it's all just so simple... EoC has all of those same mechanics but with more ways to deal with them in addition to all new mechanics as well. So what if it has a hotbar now... you can literally automate your entire hotbar rotation if you want or you can enable Legacy combat mode if you really hate EoC that much... OSRS combat just doesn't hold a candle to RS3 combat. EoC also tackled a longstanding issue in RS... The lack of utility in function of Melee & Ranged combat... in OSRS and Legacy Mode Magic is king... Spellbooks offer stuns, weakness, and reflected damage in addition to being able to do damage. Ancient Magics was a massive game changer when it was released because now Mages could freeze you and everyone around you repeatedly without losing any damage, they could use blood spells to heal themselves, and they finally had access to the one thing that gave melee & ranged an edge too... Poison... EoC fixed this by at first just giving Melee & Ranged a ton of utility skills to even the playing field out with Magic and then they added them to magic as well and reined in the power of various spells to keep the balance... I haven't had a chance to mess around with Necromancy much since I haven't had the funds to renew my Sub since it was added so I'm not sure how it interacts with the original combat triangle yet... but what I have seen feels very rushed and incomplete...
    RS3 does actually have poles for various updates... its' just not for ALL updates... and it's typically more used for information gathering (like how Polls were used back in the early 2000s). Some updates have actually been kept out of RS3 as a result of community polls, and some only ever happened because of them too. Sure OSRS may be more community driven, but as you yourself even said, sometimes this isn't actually a good thing since many much needed updates are frequently out voted in OSRS.

    I have played both games and have played for 20 years now. RS3 sucks in every way except for PVM which is superior to OSRS in every way. If you also like easy skills levelling faster and easier then RS3 is better and like me you don't have the time to spend on super long OSRS grinds. OSRS has bigger community both are equally friendly if you ask me. OSRS has better economy would be enhanced if they remove the GE as for me personally that's when i liked Runescape best. To me combat is preferential and both OSRS and RS3 have their good and bad points OSRS is simple and there is a clean feel to combat while RS3 is crazy but getting good at it is harder and makes you feel like some sort of 300apm starcraft player which sometimes is awesome but other times is just a lot of hard work. Bossing / PVM RS3 is hands down the better game the bosses have more mechanics and are generally harder than in OSRS.

    Lol what is even this "comparison"? You lost it for giving out the combat point to osrs because "you need to actually know the tick system, different spells, movement, mechanic...", literally all of that is required in rs3 high end pvm plus more🤣, you can say you prefer osrs combat more but this is not even a comparison, you're just listing what osrs combat has to offer, saying its so good and disregard rs3 altogether lmao.

    If we are being real, RuneScape 3 is a way better game. & bossing is better in rs3. Combat is also better and more polished since everyone’s early views of EOC. Mtx is the only thing that kills it. Been playing since 04’ don’t @ me 😂

    As a person who don’t care for graphics i think osrs might be my new home i will be giving it a shot soon cause the simplicity of it is something i like while rs3 overly complicate things i feel like.

    I just recovered my main from 10yrs ago and now it’s an rs3 charector. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out the stupid interface. And all I have left on that account is 13mil which was a decent chunk of change back then, apparently that’s worthless now. Also my 99 mage and fletch is apparently no big deal in the new game. I wish I could play it in osrs mode cause that’s all I know and that’s where that account shined.

    EOC litteraly took away what Runescape had over other mmos and i can't really understand why youd want to play a game like WOW and not just go play it unless your actually tired of blizzards bs and want to be enthralled in a game that is simmilar but with better/more respectable devs then thats litteraly the only reason i can see anyone playing rs3. i played rs in 2006 and played as it developed and fell in love with the hd update and summoning then dungeoneering came out and it left a bad taste in my mouth for rs and its basic loop then the dreded EOC HDOS is a godsend for back when i saw back then

    • @ICM9
      @ICM9 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nah back when EOC happened, Blizzard was still respectable. Now, Blizzard took a major turn for the worse, but so did the devs in charge of what came to be RS3, so picking RS3 over WoW due to the people behind them is a bit silly.
      Now, there is no question WoW is a better polished, more popular, and more content game compared to RS3. Both require a subscription of a similar price to have a real experience with the game. There’s no reason to pick RS3 imo. If you want a game with EOC and more cosmetics, go to your typical theme park MMOs like WoW. If you like what made RuneScape special, just go to OSRS. I’m not sure how people can enjoy the microtransaction hell that is RS3 with all these superior options everywhere.

      @@Merciless_Mar Lol, I don't know why you're so aggressive. Ego tripping because you made a TH-cam comment? Lmao.
      Yes, for the most part I am agreeing with you. However since you mentioned the point of being tired of Blizzard's poor management and more recent track record as a reason to NOT play WoW. I offered a counter-point, saying, that back when EoC released (2012), Blizzard as a studio was still highly resgarded in the gaming community, so it wouldn't really make sense to stick to EoC and not transition to WoW if that was what you wanted DURING THAT TIME.
      As of NOW though, BOTH WoW and RS3 have shown clear signs of poor management, so if you were to disapprove of Blizzard it would make sense to disapprove of the direction RS3 took. So it would make zero sense to stay with RS3 as an alternative to WoW both before AND now.
      Seems like you have some anger issues and poor reading comprehension if you think I simply regurgitated what you said.
