I thought you dropped out of the fig community, I followed you when you retired from the military, the traveling with the family, your kids are ADORABLE BTW. So this is what you've been up to?? That greenhouse is TO DIE FOR❤. So are you starting over? I remember you said you stored some figs at your dad's and sounded like they died😢 Did you at least bring rooted cuttings, or cuttings of your more costly varieties?? As a female, the construction part looks better to me when it's done, to women, it's like watching paint dry.. I follow for your knowledge of figs, I also enjoy the family time, and the children.. but I'll keep checking back, best of luck, and very impressive job so far..
Thanks! Yes I’m starting a nursery in Northern CA. I did try to bring a lot of cuttings but the vast majority didn’t make it so I’ve just been growing a new collection of figs from new cuttings. I’m still working on setting up the property so it will probably be a bit longer before the fig trees really get going.
Great explanation Pete. Looking forward to the rolling bench demo. One question - is the greenhouse solely for commercial operation - i.e. growing cuttings for sale? If so, what's your plan for growing larger trees for your own figs and for cuttings to sell? Will you have an outdoor orchard too?
Yes I will use it to grow things for sale. You are correct that I will need an outdoor growing space or orchard to supply the scion wood used for propagation in the greenhouse. I’m working on getting that going now. Due to the amount of grading and earthwork required I had to get the greenhouse done before I could setup all the outdoor irrigation for the orchard.
Enjoyed the video Pete, can’t wait to see it in full production.
Awesome build Pete, gave me a few ideas once I'm ready for one...on a smaller scale though. Great progress!
Great stuff Pete - best of luck with your business. Talk about doing things the right way!

Seriously though, the beard is starting to scare me 😂 Always enjoy the videos, keep them coming.
