Thanks for helping me make up my mind. With everything you beautifully stated, plus the fact that this variety might be discontinued here in the states, i think i better get this quick ! Way back in the early 70s D.A. named a variety after his father Charles Austin. This was where i fell in love with the rose. Since it's been discontinued for a number of performance issues i've been watching the new releases and waiting for the general public's observations, and with what everyone is saying, i think i found a similar rose AND a much better version 🏆
Originally I was planning on growing Red Eden over an arch with a bench beneath it. Needless to say, I watched your review of this rose & went right over to the computer to order 2 Crown Princess Margaretas for the arch in question. (Red Eden will enjoy a fine life on her obelisk, very pretty but lacking much in the way of scent, while CPM invites people to come sit down with her.) Your review saved me a lot of work moving plants about the yard later on. 🤗
Hey man. I love your youtube videos about this rose. I live in Thailand and have been buying Bishop Castle, Princess Alexandra of Kent, and Golden Celebration. They love the Sun and can survive the heat. However, I expand my love to more English rose after watching your videos. I just got Claire Austin, Crown Princess Magareta, Gertrude Jekyll, Pilgrim, and Port Sunlight because of your youtube. I put the Pilgrim and port Sunlight in the shad with the possible sunlight in the morning and sunset. They seems to enjoy the morning beam and sunset light. I put Clair Austin in the shade with the light of afternoon til sunset because I had an experience with harsh light. Your video also explains my suspecious theory that Clar Austin hates heat, so I put in shade. It is in the shade under a 3 stories-tree with a small beam of Sunset and doing so well. Ironically, that shade spot killed so many plants because of being under the shadow of a big tree. The David Austin's franchise gave me a free L.D. Braithwaite pot. I almost killed it on the first day because I didn't reconize the name until I saw your review about its fragile condition. I mean I let it sat in the spot with the heat of sunset. Their flowers hanged down after the heat. Then we had a rainy strom at night. The next day I moved it when I woke up in the morning to the shade. They are now beautiful!! I got questions with Crown Princess Magareta and Gertrude Jekyll. I got two Gertrude which I place one in the spot next to Clare Austin under the shade of tree and get the sunshine in the afternoon. The other at the fence facing South with the light beam in the morning, but the tall bulding block the sun in the afternoon. Both of them don't seem to have the fresh look like others. Do you have a recomendation on where to place them. Also, I rewatch your video on the crown princess of magareta and didn't see you explain the best spot or planting condition of this rose. I heard from Thai rose lovers that I should put it with the sun beam all day. Yet, I trust your recommendation. Therefore, please advice.
I live in 🇮🇳india, you need to know all roses need 5-7 hr of sunlight☀️ no shade, they love ❤ rain 🌧 but protect from hot 🥵 🌞🏖️ summer, april to mid june, i protect from green net 🙏💯✅❤✌
A very beautiful rose! We planted this rose in a terracotta pot ourselves. It bears beautiful flowers every year. And the scent is stunning. Many greetings from Dresden!
Very beautiful rose 😍 can you also make a video for another yellow rose Golden Celebration please? I am going to buy my first DA rose, all DA roses are gorgeous. It is really hard to make decision. 😆
I’m afraid I’m going to have to disappoint you with that one goal celebration isn’t part of my collection I’ve never been a fan of the celebration series I know they’re incredibly popular because of the names five and yet to come across one that is in my opinion worth growing
Do you know why they discontinued this rose? I just ordered my very first Austin roses the other day, and Crown princess Margareta was on the list. I think I’ll have to do an unboxing video or something when I receive them all 😀 Thanks for a great channel! 🌹
The reasoning is unclear. I don’t believe what they’re writing on their website as I strongly disagree with their reasons. Crown, Princess Margarita is an absolute stunner, and if you’ve been lucky enough to get hold of it, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed it thrives in a partial shade and full sun, flowering heavily all the way through the season. Great colour form and amazing fragrance is a large and floppy shrub that will need some support. They also cut very well as a cut flour.
@@myswedishcottagegarden please do take the time to watch my best of series, a collection of nine videos, bringing together the best David Austins, I did one for vase life as a cut flower
Thank you for your rose review. I always find them very helpful . I need some advice. I have a west facing wall where Iam intending to grow a rose climber. But i can’t decide between crown princess margarita and Bathsheba. Please help me choose one. Many thanks in advance.
Please look out for this rose being sold, under it’s non-copyright name of “Auswinter” it will be exactly the same rose possibly not direct from the David Austin Nurseries
Currently, there is nothing to compare it to. My Bathsheba has never flowered. It’s been in the ground for two years and produced no blooms whatsoever. In my opinion at the moment hands down at Crown, Princess Margarita is a very good performing rows ranking high in my top 20 is for the last two or three years
Ive been trying to find this online for sale this year in the UK but david austin has dicontinued it. 😔 does anyone know any nurseries that sell it or where perhaps to try. Many thanks.
That’s it! Crown Princess Margaretta is now on the list. (You’re a dangerous man to follow Ben Hamilton 😉)
I do apologise
I agree! 😂
Love at first sight ❤ CPM

It’s helping us so much ❤️
Happy to help -enjoy
Can I get that rose anywhere in UK anymore? I really love that rose.
Look for it under its given Latin name which is “Auswinter”
The difference between the climber and the shrub version is how you prune it right?
Hopefully this will do better than my Ultra - Naff Strawberry Hill

Which rose do you think has the best vase life as cut flower?

Hi Ben !! How does this rose compare to Batsheba? How do you rank Batsheba please? Which one if the two is better and why? Thank you 🙏 😊
Hi well Crown Princess margarita has made it into my top 20 three years in a row Bathsheba is no where to be seen in those lists it never blooms

Hi Ben Crown Prince Margareta or Lady Emma Hamilton if you can only have one
Nope can’t choose !
Ok ok Lady Emma Hamilton
No scrub that Crown Princess Margarita
No no no both !
5 or 6ft?! David Austin's website says 12 feet(which was a determining factor behind my buying it just now before I watched this video😭)
Really ! I’ve had my 3 now for around eight years I’m not sure this part is capable of reaching that size it reliably reaches 6 feet each year
You realise This review is about the shrub and not the climber
Omg, I do now lol. Thank you! 😅🤣
But if you have the climber you can expect it as you read on the website to reach Around 12 feet
