I like it when you talk to your children when you are filming. I'm 81 years old and it makes me feel more like when I grew up. I have watched almost all your videos, and I don't want you to change a thing.
Hello from North Bay, Ontario, thoroughly enjoying your channel and I love the way you speak so lovingly to your animals. Cant wait until your cookbook is done.
I just discovered your channel recently and am thoroughly enjoying your videos. You have a very peaceful way about you. 😊 I also love that your cooking segments are very “real life” without every item already measured/laid out “Food Network-style.” You cook the way a typical home cook does it. Love the little nods to being Canadian with the occasional “hey?” (my dad is Canadian, from London, Ontario). 😊
@@LittleMountainRanch My dad has been in the states long enough (over 60 years) that I don’t really hear that “out/about” difference with him, but it’s definitely a Canadian thing. 😉 I follow a Canadian gentleman on TH-cam and hearing his “hey?” always makes me smile too. Thank you again for all your lovely videos!
Gosh I officially just fell in love with your mission! When you started talking about your mom and her style of cooking, it reminds me of myself and where i am in life and how i view my mother and grandmothers influence of cooking now. Thank you so much for sharing all that you do. I've commented on other videos, but i have to say it again, you're currently my absolute favorite channel, and i binge your videos. I am so intrigued by all the work that you do, and i find you highly motivational. I need your style of videos in my life right now, and your videos are actually helping me figure out what is really important in life. Thank you so much, you've truly influenced the way i view life right now, and it's all positive vibes!
After working as a professional in restaurants I have kept the habit of crossing my apron in the back and tying it in the front. AND placing a towel under the apron strings. Comes in handy!
My mother was a terrible cook. I think she was trying to be frugal and please our 'meat and potatoes' father and had a terrible time. She also felt that every new fangled thing was wonderful, like microwaves and pre-packaged meals. My kids had a lot of digestion issues (my grandson has no vaxx, we are learning) and so I had to learn how to cook. I was so pleased this Christmas when my kids changed their plans last minute and decided to come to my house for dinner instead of breakfast and even with my menu changed as I turned from checking on the food to announce dinner they were all lined up to come into the kitchen! Yeah! I'm a good cook!
Hi Chelsea. Wanted to let you know I made your potato, ground beef/bacon etc. recipe last night for supper. My family absolutely loved it, so it's a huge winner. Will definitely be making it in the future. 😊
Lunch was kinda sorta like a fancy Poutin. When I feel a little anxiety coming on, I start a sewing project with your channel playing in the background. Thank you for sharing a little of your world with us. Love from New Orleans, currently 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
Your cookbook is sounding so lovely and looking forward to it. It would be great if your mom writes a small letter to you in the beginning or some other personal note.
I love that you voiced your theme for your cookbook. Once you said it, I knew that was exactly how I felt without realizing it or having the words to explain it.
I truly enjoy your family and all that you do. Maybe some straw on top of the food in the root cellar for extra protection. Anxious to see what you're going to start growing. Stay warm God's blessings to your family.
The recipes are such a treasure. Don't you think that the most valuable things we should learn is what life was like from our elders? Meals, life, home, work, world, friends, family, childhood, young married life, older life... man I wish I could ask a hundred more questions from my family that is no longer with us. But the things I remember, I treasure!!! We have failed our children by not taking enough time to learn what life was like of the elders.
I’m constantly amazed that I never hear you yelling, or having to scold your children. Are they really such angels? They seem so calm and well behaved. You just don’t see that much anymore. ♥️🙏🏼♥️
I would never show me chastising one of my children online. Not because I think there's anything wrong with chastising them, but because I would never want to embarrass them or point out their faults publicly. Trust me, I definitely have my moments where I lose it, but I do try not to yell, unless it's to be heard over the din. lol
When we used to tent camp, as a family of 9 kids and my parents, my mom would make the most delicious meals over an open fire, or she buried a couple of Dutch ovens with coals, and let it cook all day, while we hiked. One of the favorite meals, and one I still like to make for my family, was "German pizza". She would have layers of sliced potatoes, with olive oil, salt n pepper, and pieces of spam (or ham, but spam was traditional), and cheddar cheese. That would cook in an oven or under hot coals, and before eating, she added a couple of dozen eggs she mixed together, with salt and pepper, and poured it over the potato mixture, letting the liquid eggs seep through the potatoes and cook. We always ate it with ketchup or green tomato relish, another family favorite, and a way to use up the many green tomatoes at the end of the growing season. It has bell peppers, clove, cinnamon, etc. There are many great recipes online. It's delicious on scrambled eggs and roast, and can be used on burgers and hotdogs, but we usually stuck to eggs and roasts. Thanks for sharing your life and recipes with us.
Hello Chelsea- I am excited about your future thrifty home cooked meals. That is how my Gramma Hazel taught me. I have one of her Vermont cookbooks and a 1933 Home Comfort cookbook that was featured in the original owners manuel for the wood stove. No oven temps! Lehmans previously offered this reproduction cookbook. You have done a find job of putting all these practical and delicious meals together for your family. Happy New Year! ~ Diane
Found your channel today and binge watching, really enjoying it! We had the coldest weather in many years here in PA for Christmas weekend. minus 10F which would be like minus 25 C? But the worst part was that on the mountain that I live on, the wind blew pretty much nonstop for more than 24 hours at 55-60 mph (90 to 100 kph) which was insane! Then we had a week of 50's and melted off all the snow and ice. Back to normal now.
Where I live in UK there is an Abbey that has a farm and a cafe etc, they keep lots of pigs and you can buy pig nuts from the cafe and feed the pigs, they always have lots of piglets and they are adorable, they also sell the end products which are delicious
I could almost smell dinner cooking.oh yum. I am so looking forward to getting your recipe book, cause I love cooking like that. I make pantry meals everyday almost…..but I need some new inspiration. Great video, see u soon ❄️🌷❄️
Thanks for sharing your faith with us. Never heard of the church here but it sounds a lot like what I believe in. I read for hours. My husband past away last week I spent a lot of time teaching about God and how and what was expected of him to go to heaven. I feel he will be waiting for me in heaven. Thank you. With love Jamie
I am so excited for your book. When my Grandma passed all the recipes went with her. And then her hand written book went with a cousin and disappeared. All those memories and food. So sad. But she cooked like you do. Simple but delicious and filling. Everyone enjoyed her cooking. I’ve seen the Christmas goodies you made and promptly made them. Didn’t have raspberry jam for the bars but made them with haskap rhubarb jam instead and the boys devoured them, so thank you. Sometimes I get carried away thinking that they want fancy food but what I think they wish sometimes is quantity and tasty. Not lavish… you inspire me to get back to good old farm house cooking.
one of the great things about wearing an apron is to tie the strings in the front and hang a kitchen towel over the tie. You will never have to hunt for the towel again when working in the kitchen, it will be right at your waist.
What a great video, kids project are so clever, tie dye & ice fort. 👏An outside tour, piglets , root cellar and food. That chicken and potatoes looks yum. Well done.
personally, I can never survive in a 0°C temperature let alone a -30°C! We've been having a very worm "winter" this year, the emperatures are around 20-25°C during the day and the minimum temperature during the night is around 5°C 😅😅 Your family has my full respect for being able to live in such harsh conditions ♥
Definitely buying your cookbook. I love all the ingredients you use especially the spices. I love the simple recipes that end up looking and tasting like a million bucks. Bravo!! Making the roasted potatoes tonight.
I don't know if they're available in Canada but in the U.S., we have what are called klusky noodles and that's what I use when I make paprikash, I'll have to try the potatoes though, sounds good. Looking forward to your cookbook, I also like thrifty, simple food and it's interesting to see your version of things. Thanks for sharing and fingers crossed the weather is warm for the new piglets 🤞

Always a great video, and your down home ways of growing/raising/ cooking food are the way we all should aspire to live. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! Looking forward to the cookbook!
The socks and shirt came out super nice. The meat and potatoes with cheese curds, oh my!!! I wish I could've smelled the aroma. My Dad used to live near the Canadian border in Ogdensburg. He says fresh cheese curds squeak when you eat them. He got my son hooked on cheese curds. How exciting that you will be getting your hands dirty and growing in your grow room. I'm going to try winter sowing next year. I want to get a head start. I ordered my friend a packet of Cinderella pumpkin seeds. She's excited. I bought some burgess buttercup squash seeds, and a beautiful tye dye looking tomato seeds called Ananas Noire. I can imagine those tomatoes with cucumber sliced up on a plate. Thank you again for a great video. Have an awesome day.
@@LittleMountainRanch I might try freeze drying some and of course canning some. With only 15 seeds in the pack I thought I would get my friend her own seeds. Have you saved your Cinderella seeds for sowing the following year? I save tomato, zucchini, beans and pepper seeds so far. I've only been gardening since 2020. I'm going to grow tomatillos for the first time next year. I hope the carrot seed disc's work that I made. It's something garden related to do during the winter. Stay warm and have a wonderful night. Also trying Long Island Cheese pumpkins.
Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah.Thats a hard name to live up to,"Dinah",I hope she's got plenty of brothers, just like in the Bible!God bless you and your people Chelsea!
My New Years goal is to learn how to can things (water bath for now). I have made jam, apple chutney, apple sauce, apple butter, pickled carrots. I’m so excited!! It’s so much fun. ☺️ Thanks for inspiring me.
The weather you are describing is how we normally have snow in the UK, that is why we have such issues the roads are like ice rinks footpaths unusable. The snow we had before Christmas was lovely and dry the temp was negative so once the roads were clear they stayed clear. You lunch looked really yummy and filling.
I've been thinking about paprikash. I think I need to make a batch soon. That last sylable is pronounced ash, like what comes from burnt wood, here in NW Ohio. Yours looks delish! Thanks for the vid, especially the peek into your root cellar.
I love how you don't skimp on the cheese on dishes. Nothing made me sadder as a child than when dinner was supposed to be a "cheesy bake" but there was barely any cheese on the food.
I have 2 of those metal shelves that I use for my pantry & jars. They hold a lot of weight. I put heavy cardboard down so my smaller bottles & things don’t tip. You’ll be growing micro greens in no time!! Good for you!
Good afternoon Little Mountain Ranch. Glad to see you're back. Home cooked roasted potato hash sounds like the perfect thrifty and simple substitute to plain old hash browns. Thanks for sharing. 😊😊
Thanks for sharing this update. I like how things are progressing. I'll still take the warmer weather over the very cold temperatures, any day. I hope you have a Happy New Year. Cheers! ✌️🇨🇦
Your videos should be longer. I am loving everything about your content!! Will order your cookbook, but I am not a beef or pork eater, but I can alternate with chicken!!
I love watching your videos. I love your animals. I live in Wisconsin, cheese curds are everything here. Lol. Thank you for sharing your family and your life with all of us
Potato hash is so easy and it can be seasoned up any way you want it. Like to get a bit more brown on my taters though, adds a bit more flavor. You have a freeze dryer and should make your own bullion cubes, or even freeze them, those will be better than any store bought preservative laden heartburn inducing cubes you can find. One of the biggest problems pertaining to gastric health is that so many folks eat so much processed food that it eats away at their gut and poisons their entire bodies. Don't know how it came about that so many folks stopped teaching their younguns how to cook, reckon fast food places had a big hand in it. I'm very good at mathematics and can't tally up the total number of young ladies that have asked me to teach them how to cook the most basic recipes for themselves and their families, even a few college age boys have asked me to show them simple and cheap dishes that they could handle. Had one woman that had five younguns that looked about as unhealthy as any younguns I'd ever seen, taught her how to cook up many dishes, and taught her how to use and care for cast iron skillets, within a few months them younguns were looking healthier than I had ever seen them. Most folks don't know that cooking with cast iron is healthy because it leeches iron in your system and prevents you from having to take supplements, which can cause other problems. How many younguns do y'all have in your house?
@@LittleMountainRanch Oh Good! I was wondering when I saw the aprons. I got it on eBay several years ago, I should have sent it then. It’s an actual old kitchen item, new old stock. However, I have seen that another company has started manufacturing them again, not sure of the quality, though. Glad you like it!
We have freeze-thaw conditions here, too. I love your animals and how well you treat them. Happy New Year to you and your awesome family. Love the aprons! I use them, too. Clean (er!) clothes are good. 👍😎🇨🇦🌙⭐
You showed us your root cellar. I have a suggestion for storing your carrots. I live near Rocky Mountain house in AB. I packed my carrots in plastic storage containers in slightly damp peat moss. My carrots are firm and growing slightly. That may work for you also. Our weather is quite similar.
Hi, I was curious as to the kind of pot you used to make the chicken. I don’t recall ever seeing a pot that shape. I couldn’t make out the writing on the lid. The chicken looked really good and I will give it a try. I can’t wait for your cookbook, I’m sure it will be a lot of fun to try everything.

Your videos should be longer. I am loving everything about your content!! Will order your cookbook, but I am not a beef or pork eater, but I can alternate with chicken!!
I sometimes feel like they are way too long! I’m so glad you like them.😊
I love watching your videos. I love your animals. I live in Wisconsin, cheese curds are everything here. Lol. Thank you for sharing your family and your life with all of us
You are so welcome!
I love your channel and all the baby pigs 🐷🐖🐖
Hamburger in baked beans...try it!!! Not excluding the bacon! I do both
Very excited for your cookbook!
Love you Chels! Great video and can’t wait for your cookbook!
So much love to you, too! I just got your package and I love, love the opener. Brilliant! Where did you find it?
