I had the pleasure to watch David Russell playing this piece live last year (second row seats) and his interpretation was superb. I recommend everyone to take a look at his approach to this theme (there’s an old version available on youtube).
Nice and interesting video also your tremolo is lovely I have been listening to your other videos since I found this one loved your natural timing and feel for the music. The pizzicato section, introduction of this piece, the timing is not how it is written quite. With Barrios my reference was always to find Berta Rojas playing the piece as it is her countries music she understands the timing etc of the written music which is very interesting to hear the difference from how many players interpret it from the written score.

Maybe you would like to find and try the Stover edition and Benites one, these editions are both closer to Barrios's original recordings than Eythorsson's edition, which is the one you've been using, Eythorsson often alters difficult chords and / or fingerings for ease of playing and his editions overall aren't quite close to the original version of a piece, especially this piece where I notice places that aren't what guitarists often play I would suggest you checking out maestro John Williams's renditions (close to Stover edition) or maestro David Russell's ones (close to Benites version) and of course Barrios's original recordings on TH-cam
How would you suggest I start learning to play guitar? I have really good understanding of music and played every instrument I have ever touched, including guitar. But I never learned music or played guitar to its fullest. It was more like grab it, play it. Plus I just remember notes by their actual sound rather than their names (like A, B, C, D etc) so is it really important to know their names?
