Absolutely fantastic! They sound better than ever! Their live performances have always been amazing so if you can still get a ticket, no matter how far away from the stage, do not hesitate: I guarantee you you won't regret it. Long live Spandau Ballet!!!
Used to groove to this song (Chant #1) every morning before going to school on the golden gulf coast of Texas in the 80's.Nice to know after all these years they can still perform it and I can still dance to it.
Such a talented group!! I remember when watching MTV and the True video just came out and thinking OMG I'm in love. Handsome group of guys. Love Big Tone
Brilliant... Been years in the waiting for them to get back together so I can go and see them... Sounding just as good as I remember them from being a wee kiddie..
I remember watching this on top of the pops like so many people back in the day like a fine wine spandau day ballet you get better with age go on the old school wicked version ✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊
I was thinking when the Spands will be back in vogue. Still kept most of their old stuff-- wow, they can still hack it. Riveting stuff. I want to see them live, please come to Hong Kong!
was reading some of the comments below,.. spandau are great live act, great songs that still stand up today and get you up and dancing and clapping, but tony hadley voice and stage delivery of the songs have become a little bit phoenix nights,/ northern labour club style over the last few years, if he just sang them like the record and stopped over egging his performance,.. still got a lot of respect for the music and the guys in spandau,..
I don't know, give me Steve Norman and a Walnut Whip are there would be more than just a smile on my face!!!! - but hey I'm just a girl and things like basses are a bit beyond me!
Steve Owen !!! And you are correct, he did kill the fictional chatacter Saskia on EastEnders! And, Phil Mitchel Killed Steve! But, HE'S BACK, playing in Spandau Ballet again !
you can't take them too seriously.Back when they started it was all about that New Romantic vibe and a bit of of a pose on the dance floor. The rest of their stuff was back ground stuff. However ,I would like to meet the person who does not recognise "Through the barracades" as one of the most amazing songs ever
Make no mistake, Tony Hadley also believes he is the star of Spandau Ballet. Watching this performance there is no doubt that he is in love with himself. Personally I don't much rate his voice, especially the way he overdoes it here. For those who can't work it out for themselves, the undoubted stars of this performance (as on the original studio recording) are the brass section, Beggar and co.
Andy G But Spandau definitely did have the better singer. Tony’s voice is one of the best you’ll ever hear. It’s a big mistake they forced him out of the band.
@@andyg4082 Back in 1990 the Kemp brothers started a filmcarreer, so Hadley, Keeble and Norman were suddenly out of work. Hadley started a solo carreer. In 2009 Gary Kemp wanted them to come back together again. There was a lot of convincing needed to get Hadley back on the team, because his trust in the Kemps had gone completely. He agreed on a reunion, but it was never his aim to make Spandau a daily job again because he had his own band for many years. They did a worldtour and again parted until 2014/2015. They did another worldtour and Tony Hadley was fine with this construction of reuniting every 4 or 5 year. He was working on a solo album and wanted to finish it, but then in 2017 Gary Kemp released the remastered 'Barricades' album and was planning another tour to promote the album. Tony Hadley wouldn't get time to finish his solo album and didn't also want to leave his own band to their fate, so he quit as being the frontman of Spandau. In 2018 Spandau got a new singer, and did a few small (not very succesfull) gigs. After that, every member went on doing their own solo things.
Ah I see thankyou for yr knowledge and insite. I didn't realise the problems. As for doing a few gigs without Hadley and a different singer I dont know it doesn't sit well with me really Its scraping the bottom of the barrel. If le bon left Duran there's no way they would continue. They'd 100% call it a day.
Having said all that, don't think for a moment that I dislike The Spandau Ballet! It's just that Tony Hadley will never be a Marc Almond or even a Morten Harket, no matter how hard he tries and it seems to me that the harder he tries, the less convincing he sounds. I would suggest that Tony Hadley is the unmusical persons' idea of what a good singer should sound like.
Why would my opinion piss you off? Are you Hardly's father? Brother? Gay lover? Seeing as chart success seems to be the barometer by which you measure talent (or could that be an artists sexuality?) perhaps you ought to know that Almond has had 2 No.1 singles, which is one more than Hardly/The Spandau Ballet. Soft Cell also had a run of 5 consecutive top 5 singles in the UK. An achievement TSB could never match. Can I have your assessment of Billy MacKenzie's singing abilities while we're at it ?!
John, I genuinely was not trolling Austin. I meant everything I said. Listen to Aha's Scoundrel days album (a seriously undervalued record IMO) and tell me you still don't think Morten Harket can sing. Bear in mind we're talking pop singers here and not Caruso. I strongly suspect that nothing could induce you to listen to an entire Aha album so may I suggest that you have a listen to "Weight of the wind" with as open a mind and more to the point (Spock?) an ear as you can muster. Even allowing for the fact that studio technology can make most peoples' "singing" voices acceptable to the great unwashed, it's a pretty impressive vocal performance.
Morten can sing.He probably has one of the best range voices in pop. However the original post was to do with Marc Almond v Tony Hadley.you already know my views on that.
Tony Hadley has one of the finest voices in the music industry. Always a pleasure to hear them perform live.
They made the 80's so great !!great band and great music!
Absolutely fantastic! They sound better than ever! Their live performances have always been amazing so if you can still get a ticket, no matter how far away from the stage, do not hesitate: I guarantee you you won't regret it. Long live Spandau Ballet!!!
Awesome! Love the horns!
I was such a fan in the 80's and still am. They sound & look terrific. Still so suave, lol!
Used to groove to this song (Chant #1) every morning before going to school on the golden gulf coast of Texas in the 80's.Nice to know after all these years they can still perform it and I can still dance to it.

I remember watching this when it was first aired, Iconic performance!
ALL OF THEM ARE GREAT!

Thank you so much for this. I missed this performance. Saw them in Manchester 28 Oct. Blew me away, they were amazing "and I'm overjoyed"!
Fantastic performance 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Such a talented group!! I remember when watching MTV and the True video just came out and thinking OMG I'm in love. Handsome group of guys. Love Big Tone

Wow Hadleys voice is still amazing!!
absolutely blistering. talking bout musical talent.
Brilliant. Always give a great performance!
What a pleasure working with these guys.
Brilliant! They are so good. Great singing and great music.
there isn't a modern band around that can really touch them in performance this is just a class band
You give so much love and more Tony, many thanks !!!!
Great performance 😉!!
I have never been into the spandau's but I have to say this performance is fantastic!
Brilliant... Been years in the waiting for them to get back together so I can go and see them... Sounding just as good as I remember them from being a wee kiddie..
I remember watching this on top of the pops like so many people back in the day like a fine wine spandau day ballet you get better with age go on the old school wicked version ✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊
went to watch them in liverpool, they were fantastic, great band im glad there doin it all over again!
Wow Gary sang that's so cool!great voice!
Class, No other word than that. Never thought i would see them on stage again. Not many bands sound better than them. Can't wait until October. PK
¡Madre mía, cómo pasan los años!
fantastic
Chant No 1.....Beggar and Co, SB, Central Line, Freeez, Level 42, Shriekback. At the forefront of English funk. Superb
Wow! Wow! Wow! ❤❤
TH has a seriously strong singing voice. A serious talent considered what is being dragged into the charts now.
Impressive performance. I don't really care for the studio version of this song, but this live performance I think is fantastic!
yep they are all good and they seem enthusiastic great band im glad they came back, are they still going???
Jonathon Ross's brass section look like a bunch of bad ass dudes!
I was thinking when the Spands will be back in vogue. Still kept most of their old stuff-- wow, they can still hack it. Riveting stuff. I want to see them live, please come to Hong Kong!
that bass player is using the first 09 wal..... who else is excited about that?
was reading some of the comments below,.. spandau are great live act, great songs

whats the first track called and where are the playing live?
The true star of Spandau Ballet are Spandau Ballet as a group. None of them is "the" star in the band in my opinion.
I don't know, give me Steve Norman and a Walnut Whip are there would be more than just a smile on my face!!!! - but hey I'm just a girl and things like basses are a bit beyond me!
why wasnt tony hadley in the krays???
Such a great film.
The Kemp brothers ❤ yummy
Gary is so Hot!
@puzguitar LMFAO!

STEVE OWEN....IS ALIVE !! !
Steve Owen !!! And you are correct, he did kill the fictional chatacter Saskia on EastEnders!
And, Phil Mitchel Killed Steve! But, HE'S BACK, playing in Spandau Ballet again !
Can't stand Jonathan Ross, but Spandau smashed this performance.

Tony still has the same voice, unlike Simon le Bon
lol really? ahhhh martin kemp - wata dude lol
Such a shame its all back to bickering and backstabbing

dmouland Well said...Ann Thorps you are not getting 1 right! and yes your opinion piss me off as well... any questions?
So I suppose you bought Tony Hadley's solo records, yeah?!
Sorry Arturo, I only understand English but I'm pretty sure that "you are not getting 1 right!", is absolutely hilarious in Italian, right?!
Ann Thorpe well I mean.... I wouldn't go that far :)
Ann Thorpe It's ok honey, obviously I "got 1 wrong" as well :)it happens...I am "almost" perfect you know?
pure cheese. 0:52 the most cheesiest moment, awful
lol damn thats a bad song
Good band.
But not in the same league as Duran Duran tho.
Duran far better song writers far better musicians.
Comment if u agree or disagree.
Andy G But Spandau definitely did have the better singer. Tony’s voice is one of the best you’ll ever hear. It’s a big mistake they forced him out of the band.
Better singing voice I agree.
But better musicians n song writers
No way.
Spandau were championship
Duran are premier league.
End of debate.

Why they force him out as I'm not sure what went on really.
