I’ll always have a soft spot for Adrenalize. I remember listening to that in my Walkman and Discman back in the day. It’s still in my collection and remains one of my favorites.
We watched the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards this past weekend; kicking off with the Black Crowes and ending with Guns 'N' Roses featuring Elton John - what a show! Great list here Brendon, nice to see Adrenalize get some love and along with the two you mentioned "Make Love Like A Man' got released as a single over here in the UK.
Yeah I know those older shows were great! I miss those days! The one from 1990 that had Aerosmith performing Love In An Elevator and Motley Crue doing Don’t Go Away Mad was a favorite year of mine.
Call them rock, metal, or thrash but Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction has to be included. The fact that it barely missed #1 on the album chart by none other than Billy Ray Cyrus tells you how popular and mainstream Megadeth had gotten by that point. Also agree Alice in Chains should be on here, they also straddled that rock/metal/grunge line. Fun list to debate either way, thank you for the continued great content Brendon. 👍
Megadeth are Thrash, Alice In Chains are Grunge…they’re both not “Rock” bands. That doesn’t mean they aren’t great album. I didn’t call the countdown Best Of 1992 only….that’s why the genre of Rock was used in the title and I explain about why Metal and Grunge were excluded because both of those were up and coming leading to the downfall of Rock.
Great choices. Keep The Faith was a great bridge from New Jersey to These Days. I didn’t appreciate it so much back in 92 but like it now. Will be picking up some of the albums I am missing from this list.
Listening to this type of music from 1992 kinda hurts, since it was the end of an era. Let's Get Rocked hits me the hardest, the fun going away... So happy you included Out Of The Crasdle. My late mother bought it for me for my 12th birthday in 1992 and for that reason alone, I'll always cherish it. The music is amazing, especially Countdown and Say We'll Meet Again but the whole album is killer.

Very cool Countdown of 1992 Albums. Which Countdown will be next Who knows…. I tend to enjoy Human Touch the best I believe but then again I have not listened to them in 20+ years. I think I’ll change that. But I enjoy your top 2 albums. The only Def Leppard album I do not have is the 1st album.
Gin Blossoms are great, I am glad to hear it's on your choices. I still go back and listen to New Miserable Experience once in a while. My personal favorite from that year is Keep The Faith.
@@BrendonSnyder definitely. I follow them on social media and they are touring currently and it's good to see they have a loyal fan base. But yes, they deserved a more global recognition.
That's an interesting list, i have Automatic, Southern Harmony, Lucky Town & Human Touch. There were a lot from 92 which i loved which undoubtedly don't qualify for your list but maybe for an alternative or grunge list if you do one, i know you're a fan of Pearl Jam.
@@BrendonSnyder awesome I pull out the cd when I was wearing my adrenalize shirt the other day after watching your video. And my favorite song from bon Jovi keep the faith cd was if I was your mother but that whole cd was great I got it that year for Christmas. And played that cd over and over. Me and you has has the same tase in music 🎶 I wish we lived closer we could rock out thanks so much for doing these videos Brendon at least I'm not the only old schooler that still enjoys going to my favorite record stores and I get excited about the stuff I order from Amazon and ebay.

Good list! I would have Faith No More - Angel Dust, Ned's Atomic Dustbin - Are You Normal, 4 Non Blondes - Bigger Better Faster More and No Doubt, hard to whittle down albums from that year, so much good stuff.

I don't know if I'd put it on a "Top 10 Rock Album" list, but Wish by The Cure is a bit of a sleeper from a rock perspective. While Friday and I'm Love got the airplay, harder edged stuff like "Open", "From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea" and "Cut" are very good deep cuts and solid rock tracks with driving bass and drums. (Also, "Lovesong" was their highest charting single, think it peaked at #3).
Great choices, for me I would definitely have Extreme III sides as my top I played that thing to death, even more than Jovi for me. I now wish this album would get some kind of remaster and also extension because songs were left off, there is going to be a vinyl reissue with one extra song but so far it seems this is an import and hard to get. I’m always surprised how now this album gets love that it deserved and then some critics said they were “reaching too far” doing so many things some even joked about the last three songs how they were arranged it sounded to them like a Disney soundtrack never forget that review. But to me that ending (19 minute) three part is one of the best things recorded
Keep The Faith is a solid 9, would be a 10, if it wasn't for Woman In Love and Blame It On The Love Of Rock N Roll. Not bad songs, just should've been b sides.
I actually love the song Blame It On The Love Of Rock N Roll. I have ever since I first heard the album. But then I also always love the Bon Jovi b-sides too.

Did you really leave Core (STP) off a list of best rock albums of 92? Having been a diehard 80s rock/metal/ anti grunge guy growing up through this time, STP was a soft landing for us “losing” our genre to grunge….. big miss from your list.
Stone Temple Pilots are considered Grunge…so yes, I left them off the list for that reason. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a great album. But I do think Purple was superior.
@@BrendonSnyder all due respect, I am guessing you did not grow up in this era. Early STP was never part of grunge. Scott Weiland was flamboyant, over the top… Freddie Mercury meets Steven Tyler type front man. Your blanket term of grunge is far too encompassing if you are including early STP. They were rock,,. No as I said, they were the landing spot for a huge part of 80s hair metal/hard rock genre.
@@BrendonSnyder a grunge era band….. not a grunge band. Not even from the grunge Seattle scene…..Even they themselves hated being lumped in as a grunge band. Rage….etc… 3/5 of the best rock band in our lifetime went on to make a little band called Velvet revolver with Scott
I lived through this time (I was in high school in 1992, and college directly after)... it may have been called "Grunge" but that was a stupid media term that referred more to the fashion than the music, as really the better term was alternative rock. There were alternative rock stations, "alternative nation" on MTV... not "grunge" stations... and there was no dedicated "grunge" show. That said it was still rock music, it supplanted that Glam era with an alternative... different subject matter and a different aesthetic. I would argue the alternative era lasted until at least 95... not 1992 like you mention. Grunge is not Rock just like Metal is not Rock. Yes Grunge is part of Alternative music but then so is Ska which is not rock. Of the “Rock” era I’m referring to it is the pre-1991 era of Rock before Grunge, Punk, Ska, and other kinds of Alternative music became popular and supplanted the “Rock” of the 70’s and 80’s. Bands like Helmet, FMN are Metal and Alice In Chains, Smashing Pumpkins are Grunge. Can they all be considered Alternative…sure. But for purposes of being able to narrow an enormous field of albums released in 1992 and to have a theme making it more of a challenge, I chose to define it as I did. Feel free to make you own video 👍
I understand your criteria for your list (it's a great one). I don't mean to argue with that... I think sometimes the semantics can change from band to band and you can argue for ages. BTW my list wasn't meant to encompass just "rock". My point was that the use of the term Grunge, always seems to be a catch all term instead of alternative rock (and to your credit you did not do that... you said both). I will still argue most alternative music can still be considered rock... i stress "most", not all. Its still loud guitar, bass, drums (sometimes keys) based music. It's still under the rock umbrella, just like punk was punk rock... just like progressive rock, and post punk and new wave, also fall under the rock term and they date back long before 1992. That was the only point i meant. I really dig your channel thanks for the great content.
@@JohnMacRae23grunge and alternative are nothing even close to hard rock /aor / glam / rock . How ever you wanna classify it . Grunge just was uninspired bland , sad, boring music. Nothing about it was inspiring in my opinion but obviously some people really dig it but I think Brenden was trying to make a point of how by 92-93 hard rock /rock was commercially basically over . Radio and mtv completely turned their backs as did the records companies …
Unfortunately yes , the last great rock era .So many great albums , and bands , bands like Vixen , Firehouse and Tyketto just lost the course after that .
@@BrendonSnyder That makes sense...Personally, for me, if I left grunge out I don't think there would be enough music I liked to even make a Top 10 that year.
1992 the last great era of rock? Sadly Yes. Unbelievable amount of great rock music in that year. Grunge not only hurt glam rock but trash metal as well
Brings back memories! I recall seeing the Lindsey Buckingham video for "Wrong", which I believe was the first single (not sure) and was blown away by the guitar sound. But "Countdown" has stood the test of time and probably the best known from the album. My Top 3: 3. R.E.M - Automatic for the People - was surprised by how much I loved this. 2. Adrian Belew - Inner Revolution 1.

Alice in Chains, Dirt is absolutely the #1 of 1992 for me.
Alice In Chains is considered a Grunge band so that’s why they didn’t make the list. But yes it’s a fantastic album.
@@BrendonSnyder That makes sense...Personally, for me, if I left grunge out I don't think there would be enough music I liked to even make a Top 10 that year.
1992 the last great era of rock? Sadly Yes. Unbelievable amount of great rock music in that year. Grunge not only hurt glam rock but trash metal as well
Ugly kid joe - America's Least Wanted
Another good album!
92 was a bad year by these choices!
Brings back memories! I recall seeing the Lindsey Buckingham video for "Wrong", which I believe was the first single (not sure) and was blown away by the guitar sound. But "Countdown" has stood the test of time and probably the best known from the album.
My Top 3:
3. R.E.M - Automatic for the People - was surprised by how much I loved this.
2. Adrian Belew - Inner Revolution
1. Sugar - Copper Blue
I had been following the first 2, but had a friend not told me about Copper Blue when it came out, who knows how long I may have not known it existed. Great album!
i gotta disagree all these were all bad except for great white anf bad co,,,,,,i cant beleive to had great white and the gin bloosems in the same video but its fine that we see things different thats what makes the world go round
How did you like the Great White but not Def Leppard or Bon Jovi? They seem to go hand in hand. But as you said, we all hear things differently. Feel free to offer some alternative choices that should replace bands like the Gin Blossoms.
