Based on their interviews: They do not really felt enthusiastic to be anymore y/t-ers. (11 years, and now they are in their 30s) They announced in August, that their future plan is education, and to make B2STM music videos. Something they feel passionate about. (I do not know about the reason for deleting their videos.) It is my take, I hope they explain it more. Edited later: From tsv: We’ll be hosting a live stream hangout on TH-cam on December 21st at 8 PM EST! Grab some bubble tea, and join us as we answer your questions and share some life updates. See you soon.
One theory I've seen mentioned is maybe it's part of the plot....where B2TSM are holding the account / videos hostage, until they can get back to their proper timelines. Kinda makes sense with how everything has played out so far, actually.
Guys, this is it. They've said in New York Times article that they're going to release 6 final B2TSM videos as part of their farewell. This is not rebranding, it's really over.
Dang. The ending of the article too: To the fans disappointed by their decision, they offered a simple response. “Go practice,” Yang said. “There are no excuses anymore.”
after reading the NYT article, im starting to see this video in a different light. It almost seems like brett and eddy are showing us how tired they are from the constant social media pressure and how they really feel through this song. about how their music and inspiration needs to come from the heart. Thank you for all the work you have put in this past decade. Wishing yall all the best in your future and i hope both of yall can relax and find your joy and inspiration once more.
I watched again, and really, I can't see the relation. Everything he says makes sense regarding the character (Bach in our era) plus a huge critique of the music industry. Really, I can't see any link to twoset's situation
Re: NY Times article - Thank you so much for everything you’ve brought us these last 11 years. You made classical music fun and accessible, and inspired me to take up violin earlier this year (I’m so glad I did). Your creativity and humour will never be forgotten. You’ve brought me so much entertainment and insight. I can also imagine that the algorithm and the scrutiny of living a TH-camr life would be a lot, so please enjoy a well-deserved break. All the best in whatever comes next. In the meanwhile… I’ll go practice.
This is a very sad farewell, but they deserve a break, they had entertained us for 11 years, and were very successful. Even though I’m super upset about their departure, I appreciate the B2TSM tracks as a leaving gift. TwoSet helped us in many ways like learning to instruments, and continue practising our instruments. Thank you so much for this 11-year journey. Hope you are happy and healthy. :)
Since you guys are really retiring, let me say this from the bottom of my heart: Thank you for everything you did, every laughter you brought us through your skits, your videos, even just your genuine personalities. Thank you for introducing many thousands to classicam music. Thank you for the art and your creativity you shared through your interpretations, your playing, your compositions and productions. Thank you for this truly epic farewell you're giving us with the B2TSM album and mvs because that is so like you. To quote you in the NYT article published about your retirement, "I would much rather give all of you our best in these music videos than give you a nice, kind, seems-authentic video,” Yang said. “I'd rather let your dreams and fantasies run free.” Thank you, Brett and Eddy. Thank you, Twoset Violin!
@@warriorlight417 there’s an explanation in a new york times article - essentially they were burnt out and did the b2tsm album as a final farewell project
@@warriorlight417 From the NYT article: In an interview, Chen and Yang confirmed they were finished with TwoSet Violin, though they said they would likely continue to work together. They said they were increasingly worn out by the demands of creating more than 100 videos each year. And, with 4.3 million subscribers on TH-cam, they said, they were growing tired of the scrutiny.
I like the old twoset style, I hope they're not deleting video because that was their identity. It's okay to change style/direction but please bring the old video back.
I imagine they're going to bring back the old videos we love so much but we'll have to wait for it to happen. B2TSM takeover will play its full course. As I see it, TwoSet isn't rebranding as some people said, they're acting. I wish they had gone full-hog from the beginning about the takeover and not hidden vids so there was less misinterpretation and concern about what was happening, but I am enjoying this new stuff too
@@zarakoda Read their NY article they’re saying they’re burnt out and quitting and these videos are a send off with no explanation or re uploading stuff
I am so happy now! Twoset are the reason I started playing the violin again after 50 years and I’ll be forever grateful for that fact alone. Now, gentlemen, how about restoring all the videos so that we can enjoy them again. Pretty please.
@@JaneG58 Also another Twosetter has been reuploading them....Twoset Archive on here. But the vids being private might be temporary. One theory I've seen mentioned is maybe it's part of the plot....where B2TSM are holding the account / videos hostage, until they can get back to their proper timelines. Kinda makes sense with how everything has played out so far, actually.
@@danniballecter7936 Just had a look at this - thank you for the info. It will certainly be interesting to see how things play out! Fingers crossed (though not while practising) that Twoset reupload everything themselves in time!
I loved this too!! Such an eloquent way to express the distinction between popular vs principled! It's so important as a performer to maintain your own vision of what you want your art to be. Of course, you need to listen to feedback because you are creating your art to put out to the world, but you've got to maintain a balance between what you think others will like and resonate with, and keeping your art true to your own vision and expression! Beautiful!
I think everybody here respects their decision. It still feels kind of disappointing that after communicating so much with their fans, they left without a real goodbye. That leaves a very bitter aftertaste. Still, TSV: all the best for your teaching projects etc. Thank you for all the old videos!
@@e2pii213How could anyone ever call any piece of rap a "masterpiece." Do you see stick figure drawings by a 4 year old and then compare it to Da Vinci paintings or Rembrandt and consider them their equal? 😂
so this is how reading a farewell letter feels like 😢 i'm gonna miss Brett and Eddy.. their videos helped me cope during the pandemic.. but knowing that they will finally have the kind of break they needed after 11 straight years kinda consoles me 🌱 thank you B&E for giving your best in creating the B²TSM videos! 🩷 live well! love from the 🇵🇭
As someone 29 years old, I’m on the cusp of 30’s and still in the 20’s but also not early 20’s. I get the mass deleting. I genuinely get it, you grow and change, and you aren’t the same person anymore, so why should that person still exist forever on the internet? It’s not fair and not natural. Moving onto education seems like a natural progression. That being said, I’m glad they’re not deleting everything, because they have a loyal fan base and shouldn’t ghost. Also a proper goodbye would be good. Not just a quick thanks for the memory, a proper video on what’s happening. I know they did the NYTimes article, which I haven’t read yet and only learned about from this comment section. I don’t have social media anymore, so if there’s been a proper goodbye somewhere else, I apologize for not seeing it. Anywho, love ya, Brett and Eddy. Thank you for everything and I wish you the best.
I want to agree because the permanence of the internet sucks sometimes, and presentism is a bitch, but also…it’s kind of just something everyone has to deal with, not just an internet/content-creator thing. ie My Mom keeps unearthing the CRINGIEST drawings, pictures, and journal entries that depict a very stupid and often offensive child. But like…that happens to everyone. You kind of make an agreement when you put something into the world, especially into the public, that that will happen. When it’s intended to be private (like my journals or Hamilton’s love letters) I have more sympathy. But with public posts I do feel like it’s a trade-off, a gamble even. You can’t really gain recognition/fame without there being a good chance something will come back to haunt you. I just feel like there really could’ve been a better method employed.
Dear Brett and Eddy, Now that the end of TwoSet Violin is officially confirmed, I would like to share my story with your channel. This will be a long post, so read it at your own responsibility. I came across your channel sometime in the autumn of 2023. I believe it was one of the “What Not to Do in an Orchestra” videos that TH-cam first suggested to me. I watched it, but since it was so out of context-I didn’t know anything about the history of TwoSet-I only thought, “Hmm, this seems quite accurate, but why are these guys so nerdy?” and then I forgot about you. But then, probably several weeks or a month later, I found the “All Movie Trailers Sound the Same” video. I remember thinking, “Wow, that’s exactly how I feel about movie trailers these days!” That’s when I started browsing your channel. I saw the classic Ben Lee roast and, in true TwoSet fashion, “the rest is history.” I binge-watched your videos during Christmas time. It was like the best unexpected gift-one you didn’t know you needed until you received it. I specifically remember your special holiday episode-it had such a cozy, warm, friendly vibe. Your renditions of “Holy Night” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” are now staples during Christmas time in my home (and I’m not even that big of a fan of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”). Then, towards the end of January 2024, you announced the second European leg of your tour, which was set to start in less than two months. I usually like to plan my trips far in advance, but after a brief talk with my very supportive now-husband (then fiancé), I decided to take the risk and try to see you live. I bought tickets for the Munich show on March 26. I remember how nervous and excited I was at the same time. I didn’t know what to expect and was afraid it might feel cringey, leaving me disappointed. Boy, how wrong I was. The concert was honestly AMAZING. I had never seen anything like it. It was funny, warm, educational, and even touching. I will always remember how we, the fans, sang “Happy Birthday” to you, Eddy, and the look of honest surprise on your face. I’ve never seen an audience like the one at your Munich concert this year-equally enthusiastic, respectful, and educated. I continued to watch you religiously every day. You inspired me to start playing piano again after many years. You broadened my view and knowledge of classical music, violin playing, and orchestra life. A year ago, I couldn’t have imagined there would be a day when I would enjoy listening to Stravinsky or Prokofiev. Now, I think the cadenza from Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1 is one of the most beautiful musical moments ever created. I went to see Kavakos and Hadelich live this year because you introduced me to their craft. You helped me rediscover the beauty of classical music and showed me how fun and cool this world is-and it’s an even greater compliment to you, considering my brief interactions with violinists as a piano student weren’t... the greatest. But it wasn’t just that. As a European, I learned so much about Asian culture from you, and I think it’s fascinating. I’ve read so many stories from fans all over the world sharing beautiful memories of your channel-people who would probably never meet in real life but were able to connect because of you. I’m really sad now that you’ve decided to end this chapter. Your channel is the greatest content I’ve ever come across on TH-cam. It has been my escape from many of the world’s horrors today. After the Munich concert, I bought some merch, and ever since, I’ve carried a TwoSet sticker and a Bach pin on my handbag as a sort of superhero sign. I know it sounds silly, especially for a 35-year-old woman, but they made me feel protected (by Ling Ling insurance) and capable-not only of surviving the cruelties of today’s world but of chasing my dreams no matter what. Not gonna lie, there’s a small TwoSet-shaped hole in my heart right now, no matter how cheesy that sounds. But, at the end of the day, I want to say THANK YOU. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and commitment. Thank you for your bravery to be different and to stand for what you believe in. You are some of the most inspiring people I have ever known, and I wholeheartedly wish you all the best! Take a much-deserved break and enjoy the next stage of your lives. I hope I’ll be able to see you perform live again someday, in the not-so-distant future-and preferably as Brett and Eddy 😊. I also hope you might reconsider bringing back your videos-if not on TH-cam, then on a different platform. They are cherished by thousands of people, and it’s a legacy you should be proud of, not ashamed of. Ok, now I’m off to practice. And you should too 😉. Much love from your biggest fan in Bulgaria
What a wonderful honest well-written ‘letter’ to them. I hope they see this, and so many others so they can always know what in influence they have had, and how much they meant to people.
@@masatiselj8777 Thank you! I hope we will find a way to keep the wonderful TwoSet community, because honestly, TwoSetters are the best of people :) Wish you all the best as well :)
"Chen described the videos as a final gift to fans: “our blood, sweat and tears.” “We’re showing what TwoSet has meant to us through our art, in the same way a composer shares how they feel through their music,” he said. “To us that feels very meaningful.”" - NYT article 2024/12/05 ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lyrics 🔥🔥 B2TSM. J.S. I got 99 problems but a pitch ain't one
Seeing some of the comments here, I get a good idea why Brett and Eddy are bowing out. They made a lot of entertaining videos that millions enjoyed. And yet some people seem to think they owe us more. Well, they don't owe us anything. And yet, they're still wrapping things up with a series of expensively produced, awesome music videos. I, for one, am grateful for everything they've done. I wish them peace and joy in whatever the future brings them. And to anyone who is upset or fuming about their decision to move on with their lives: Get yourself a life. And, "Go Practice!"
People mostly weren't upset about them retiring, they were upset about their lack of communication and abrupt deletion of all of their videos. but go off
@@asdfasdfadsfasdf Right, I was so happy thinking they're starting a new chapter in their life away from youtube; we wouldn't know what they're up to, but we could imagine them doing pretty well Then I read the comments saying they might've been hacked, though I still kept hope that they're alright But then they posted... well... some people will still enjoy this, I guess eh, nevermind, I just read one comment explaining that this is not rebranding and they will finish with the channel, so all good, except I wish I got that info from them not a random comment
Yes, people are upset bc their complete lack of communication and them just doing whatever they want. Telling fans to clear out twoset stock, then say goodbye as B2TSM?! A simple video/message saying: “hi guys, we’re retiring”, would be fine. But no, we need to search for them via a Times article for the answer. I mean, hello??? How out of touch they are to post their retirement announcement on a platform they never used to communicate in the last 11 years? And they are not completely retired, they still post after the 6 final video, but no more promise of a regular upload. But with a completely different format (b2tsm) than what have earned them the 4m subs. I feel like this is a rebranding gone wrong so they decided to retire while being at it.
This rap is a masterpiece! It celebrates J.S. Bach as a counterpoint king and Baroque genius, highlighting his lasting influence with fugues, cantatas, and devotion to both God and music. The clever critique of modern music-focused on trends and lacking depth-hits hard. Bach's reminder is timeless: true art comes from the heart, dedication, and a connection to something greater, like God. Lines like 'Go Bach to your foundation!' and 'I got 99 problems but a pitch ain't one' are genius. Music should inspire and revive the soul, not just chase trends!
Thank you @idgamefake1323! You’ve perfectly put into words what i think too. This video is amazing! Bach is one of my favorite composers and this video honors him excellently.
WOW. Okay, first off, *very* cool, I can see where they're going with this. A single for each member, and then probably a full group vid. Second, holy sheet music, the production value is through the ROOF. This looks great; the quality is astounding. And third... Holy crap, can we talk about slinging some stinging truths? Everything he said about the industry is actually completely accurate. I'm not saying that no artists have any kind of passion or aren't in it for anything other than money, but even for those that are, a lot of that gets buried in the production industry. Edit: Also, check those credits! That's crazy. And yay for Producer Shaun! No denying that when you combine him with Twoset, they make magic.
The lyrics!!! The way they articulate the difference between musicians led by their own vision and principles and creativity vs falling into the trap of seeking popularity or money or prestige without authenticity! So relatable and really goes to show you that musicians (and artists) have been dealing with this dilemma for as long as they've existed.
@@ValiantVicuna Also, I have to say, for some reason the fact that they acknowledge in the lyrics Bach's spirituality and the fact that he wrote most of his music to glorify God hits hard for some reason. With me, anyway. Obviously that doesn't imply anything about their own personal beliefs, but it's a really nice touch.
@@moonwatcher99 I totally agree!! I grew up in a Christian household, so I have religious roots. I've chosen to grow away from organized religion, but that piece still shaped me as a person and I'm very grateful for the parts that I've kept! My personal religious views aside, Bach was devoutly Catholic(? or Christian? idk, but he was deeply religious!) As artists trying to revive (and outright cosplay as him) it would feel so incredibly hollow if they never brought up his faith, regardless of their own personal religious views!
After what's happened with Diddy, I think the world sees just how bad the music industry is. We need agents of change and I hope Twoset continues to be one.
Look, this Grandma is 68 and play violin for my enjoyment. My Great Uncle born in the late 1890's played 5 instruments which included violin. He willed me his violin and his Uncle's (my gr-gr uncles) violin. Gr-Gr Uncle Elmer played violin in an Orchestra and died while on tour. So violin is in my blood. Love you both and wish you only the best and will miss your videos - you brought me many laughs and inspiration to many young musicians. Stay well!
I read the article. Thanks so much for the good memories! I am not a super consistent viewer, but if I wanted a good place to enjoy music I always came here. I'm a teenage violinist and I can't get out much, so I'm a lonely musician and being here brings me a sense of community. Twosetters, we need to carry on their legacy! Keep on practicing. LING LING NEVER DIES! And neither does this community. Thanks for being so amazing all of you!
Thanks so much Brett and Eddy for all the happy memories. And for the twoset community, please check the NYT article which they released where they explained everything.
There are a lot of good people in the audience, why don’t you put specific requests for lyric transcription at the exact times the CC doesn’t cover it? I’d help but I’m in the same boat.
I took a peek at the article, and the only thing I can say is I'm proud of them. It takes courage to step away. I hope Brett and Eddy read this --> thank you for everything. I was introduced to your channel during the pandemic and it inspired me to get into classical music. I'm a better person because of people like you. You guys even led me to my senior quote, which I hold near and dear to my heart, even to this day: ""Pay no attention to what the critics say. A statue has never been erected in honor of a critic" -Jean Sibelius Thank you!
Actually it’s a relief to confirm that you’re really retiring ! I had never read comments so carefully until I read the article on NY Times. OMG it seems that whatever and however you do, there are tons of criticisms! I can’t imagine the pressure! Don’t free our fantasies! Free yourselves! Do whatever you want! You’ll be glad that you make this twist now! Gonna miss you two!
Edited because theres a NY Times article explaining this is NOT a rebrand. They will release 6 b2tsm videos as a farewell. It really is over. Thank you for all you've done Twoset Violin. You've inspired countless musicicans and brought classical music to a wider audience, especially in this modern age. I started playing because of you guys as well. I wish you the best going forward.
I'm not sure it's appropriate to demand musicians and creative people who share their gifts to do anything. They aren't your slave. I'm afraid advertising has convinced to many folks to selfishly think they can have it/everything their way.
@@DivergentMoon But IMO just an explanation to what happened would help lessen the confusion, especially if they want to keep some of their existing loyal audience...
@@DivergentMoon I agree. People have taken video creators for granted so much and forget that at the end of the day, they’re there to entertain you, which is a privilege, not a right.
They moved all videos to a different channel, so they're not gone. But the way they chose to rebrand this channel to instantly gain views instead of making a new one is just disgusting.
@@DivergentMoon I'm genuinely interested. I'm a horrible musician myself, but I can compose/produce music when I set my mind to it. Rap especially. Would I drop it on a well build channel, though... Na, I'd create a new channel to be safe. Something tells me their new "management" contract has to do with this. Also curious how that works. It's been horrible for many other YT creators that suddenly got colleagues and upload times and algo struggle sessions. Content flow over divine creativity and human joy. Once of those things where I'd love to be of so wrong and eat mountains of crow. Bring it!
I started piano three years ago thanks to you, TwoSetViolin. I am very grateful for the inspiration you gave me. Thank you! For everything you have done! Good luck to you in your future journey!
Brett and Eddy are content creators and passionate violinist and classical musicians. Despite their hardwork and doing their best, they are constantly subjected to criticisms. I hope viewers and fans stop making demands, unkind comments and comparisons and allow them to do their stuff for as long as they are here. I really appreciate brett and eddy's efforts in making videos that had educated us, brought us laughter, encouragement and inspiration all these years. Thank you for giving the spark to light up our appreciation and awareness of classical music and composers. I hope brett and eddy will be happy and free to do what they want after the b2tsm series. can;t wait to hear Mozart's (Brett's) banger as well! His little laughter at the end relieved me so much! and plsss restore the old videos we all love and find comfort with
Firstly, the production quality of this video is AMAZING, everything feels so professional. And while Eddy might not be a rapper, I think they did a stellar job of really taking it seriously and giving us something actually fun to listen to. They deserve way more props for the hours and hours they have clearly spent on this. THIS is care, and time, and heart. Secondly, their content is theirs. They have given to their fans hundreds of hours, free entertainment. They introduced me, and thousands of people like me, to classical music in a friendly and silly way. They have accomplished so much and happily gave their time and energy to it. Would I have personally preferred a message somewhere to clarify that they were burned out and leaving? Maybe. But I don't think that should diminish everything that has come before. They have been nothing but kind and respectful of their fans. If they want to withdraw at the end of this chapter, if they're tired, let them be. They don't owe every single person who has benefited from their content a personal explanation. We are all people. So are they. (Edited due to posting too early)
surprised to hear you’re retiring. but also understandable considering how difficult it is to live in the public eye. i hope you guys continue to enjoy everything you do and take care of yourselves. thank you for bringing such a positive energy to this platform. you were my childhood. thank you for that!
Cosmetic surgery and a video that is a total miss mash. What a dreadfully poor way to end what had often been a brilliantly funny and educational series of vdos. This one is meaningless and really has nothing to do with TwoSet. Makes me fear for the others due to come. So sad!
Repost, since I kinda hope they'll see this. Dear (not?-) Twoset First of all, goodness gracious! Welcome back!!! You must know that your impact in the (classical music) world and in a lot of our lives has been massive. A lot of us, including me, got to know so much more about the rich art which is classical music and violin playing through you. A lot of us were motivated to go practice on a daily basis, be it through your videos, your apparel or simply the fact that you made us all strive to for wanting to become Ling Lings. You inspired us, kept us going and brought us a laugh in difficult times. You gave us knowledge through fun content and you showed us with your dedication and lives what it means to reach out for your dreams and make them come true, step by step. Thank you so, so much for that! A lot of fans also supported you since the beginning. They were there during your kickstarter days, donated for your cause so you could go on your world tour, meet everyone and make your vision come true: Making classical music more relevant for future generations. We laughed with and through you, rooted for you for every milestone, be it the 2, 3, 4 Mil, the release of Fantasia, B2TSM's debut and so, so much more. We were saddened and worried when Brett got sick and you had to take a break, we got angry when all that copystrike stuff happened and we cheered you on to get violin-chan back from the hands of a certain bassist. With all that being said, we love you so much for what you do and who you are and that's why the sudden news of you sharing your last piece of content as TwoSet Violin came as a shock for so many of us. I dare to say that a lot were thrown into shock and disbelief and we literally entered the five stages of grief at this point. As cryptic and open for interpretation your last post may be, it was simply a. lot. to take and process on a random Monday. Many, including me, were worried something might have happened to you, especially when all your videos were privated and your insta posts were gone. Of course, this is your work, your channel and your life and you absolutely are free to do whatever you want. You owe us nothing. And from a marketing kind of standpoint, it was a genius move to get everyone's attention, including those who haven't been following you recently and you even got the media's attention all over the world. I guess what I like to say with all this rambling is, you have a lot of dedicated fans and rightly so. Maybe take their feelings into consideration next time you pull a stunt like this. It might be a bit ridiculous to care so much about TH-camrs/content creators we don't know in person, but you made that happen with your lives' work and simply by being yourself and sharing your love for classical music. And although I was pretty sure from the beginning that this was gonna be a rebranding/marketing stunt kinda thing, I struggled nonetheless. We love you way too much for being blaze about you disappearing from our lives. And with that being said - Welcome back, at last! Edit: Guys, just read the New York Times article about you really moving on from twoset and that this is your farewell gift to us 😭😭😭! This article explains a lot and I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart! It's understandable why you want to move on from constantly having to create content and to please an increasing fanbase and the world! I hope we'll still see you, maybe on a world tour, the twoset academy project, B2TSM or wherever! It's good you're being bold and looking after yourselves! We love you! Farewell, Twoset Violin!
Honestly, this sums up my feelings so well. Did NOT know how to feel for the last 2 months, finally reached the acceptance stage of grief 2 weeks ago and now they come back. Hard to balance between my anger at my emotions being “played with” for marketing and more views, and the joy at my literally idols coming back, but I totally agree with you. Thanks for posting this!

my sister and i would come home from school and watch twoset on the tv:):) my parents loved it too!! thank you so much for all of the hard work you've endured, all of the things that media can say. you've been a light in my life, and now, we twosetters will forever be yours. have a great next chapter of your life, and happy holidays!
I stumbled upon TwoSet last year. They inspired me to pick up my violin after 20 years. For that, thank you. I continued to watch your videos because they also inspired me to practice every day. Hope that someday you’ll bring them back. Best wishes to both of you on your continuing journey through life. 🙏
So glad they added proper subtitles now! The more I watch this, the more I notice the little details and layered meanings. I'm going to miss you so much, you've made practicing fun!
I agree with most of the things Bach (Eddy) says in this mv, except kids these days not having dedication... Popular music might have become a capitalist machine, but that doesn't mean all your artists aren't dedicated. For example, even the k-pop idols who don't write their own music (not saying they all don't write their own music, but many of them don't) are still working hard. They're dedicated to being good performers, whether you call them "musicians" or not. The part about music being an expression of devotion is >>>> Not all music has to be, but the best music is. That's why I love Sufi rock and devotional poetry and music in the Islamic tradition. I don't know a whole lot about western classical music, but Brett and Eddy helped me appreciate it more. I don't make music, but one day I'd like to try. Thanks for inspiring as well as entertaining, twoset.
I don’t really comment but, now that you’re finally leaving, I wanted to say You guys have meant so much to me over the years, you’re the reason why I got into playing the violin and the reason why I strive everyday to be the best player I can be. Watching your videos really inspired me to go further in my music journey and I’ll forever have to a credit your videos and messages as the reason I’ve embarked on this musical journey. I hope that you remember always, that despite all the rude and criticizing commenters, there’s more love out here for you than hate. You’ve done so much and have impacted so many of our lives that your fans will forever have you in our heart. We will never forget you. Ps: I hope on whatever comes next in your life is amazing and you have just as much if not more fun going on this new journey than you have over the past 11 years. With love and remembrance- N.a.c.l.
Honestly, the messages in this creation is pretty deep. It’s not only in music that people have lost themselves or lost their own traditions, it’s in every aspect of life - mostly ppl in my generation and younger has lost so much tradition and pieces of our own culture that we didn’t cultivate in 😢
Chen and Yang said they did not know what would come next, though they said it was possible they would perform again as B²TSM, which they introduced in 2022. “It would be stupid to throw this all way,” Yang said, “after all the ups and downs we’ve been through together.” Chen agreed. “I’m pretty useless in some areas of life without Brett,” he said. NYTimes
It has been a long journey, perhaps since 2017. During that time, I grappled with reconciling reality and dreams, experiencing a quarter-life crisis. Your busking videos were a significant source of inspiration for me. They instilled in me a belief that nothing is impossible. The following year, I purchased a violin and began playing. Although I enjoy music, the violin seems to be the only instrument I can play better. I started searching for high-quality concerto recordings. I've watched your journey from your 1 million subscriber live stream (I didn't even know who PewDiePie was back then) to even 4 million live concert. Goodbye two set violin. Big love from Indonesia. ❤
Now, THIS is lit. 🔥 The lyrics are brutal and the groove along with the baroque-ish feeling of the song and the production quality of it is astounding. If this is the way they are starting to say 'goodbye', I'm all for it. Long live Twoset Violin! ❤
No one's gonna read this but I just want to say thanks, B&E for sharing so much with us over all these years. I applaud your resilience, your creativity, and your obvious desire to stay true to your own visions and yourselves. I'm sad to see you go, but glad to see you going out on your own terms and in the way that you think is best, and to hell with the haters. Twosetters are here with you and we're proud of you. Thank you for everything. 💐💐
"Nothing in life ever came so easy" "Don't let all that get to your head" These two lines really hits home for me because i'm still struggling in my undergrad thesis while my friends already graduated and/or even work out there. I was starting to subscribe to Twoset Violin when pandemic happened. Around that years i also started the college. I'm not playing any music instrument, so my "practice" would be working on my thesis. I hope it really finished this semester because i can't go for another semester. Thank you, Brett and Eddy, to bring laughs and great compositions for us of all these years. Love you guys, i hope i could meet you up in person one day ❤
imagine being one of the greatest YT channels created. Having an incredible amount of work and personal creation utilizing almost all classical music but still getting strikes and demonetization on almost every video. I'm expecting that twoset has made a stand against YT and the industry for their evil ways. Good for them.
as someone who only ever binges twoset content (aka come back to the channel every so often and watch like 10videos at a time) i tbh didn't even know y'all pulled the kinda stunt everyone is so upset about (not that they don't have a right to be upset) but HOW IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE PRODUCTION VALUE HERE incredibly excited for upcoming content😅
As my drill sergeant often said, "good initiative, poor judgment" There's a 1000 ways they could have implemented this that would not have put such damage to their band and on the good will of their fans
@@malgique I can't understand why they delete all B2TSM drop before, including Paganini MV. They only left us with Duh Duh Duh Dum. Where is Sell Out, Mozart's Secret Masterpiece, Momo's Birthday, and Paganini React to Blackpink?
I’m really gonna miss you guys. You were truly the guiding light in my violin technique and exploration of the repertoire. The community and its inside jokes were really a highlight. Thank you so much for all that you’ve done. Everyone will practice 40 hours in your stead
It’s becoming increasingly clear why they felt the need to rebrand. Many content creators, particularly those with artistic or musical inclinations, begin their journeys driven by passion. Yet, as their reach expands, they often find themselves in a space far removed from their original vision. While they remain deeply grateful for their growth, the disconnect from their true passion can gradually erode their motivation. Beyond the humour and critiques of the diminishing regard for classical music or artistry, Brett and Eddy’s genuine dedication to their craft is unmistakable. I’m genuinely excited to see them explore further-like in this video, even through comedy-how music has shifted from being an authentic artistic expression to something increasingly shaped by commercial demands.
For Bach music for sure was not "an authentic expression of himself" and was for sure shaped a lot by demands, although maybe not commercial. The recipe for art is not as easy as "authentic expression". Bach was inspired by his faith a lot, so music was a way to pray for him.
@@kingalubanska8987 I don’t disagree with you at all. My point is rooted in the message conveyed in the lyrics of this MV, which reflect on how artistry is increasingly shaped by external, commercial pressures. Authentic expression doesn’t necessarily exclude external influences, like Bach’s faith or the cultural context in which he composed. However, when the primary or major motivation behind art is not driven by genuine passion or a deeper purpose, but instead by commercial interests, it often loses its authenticity. Bach’s music, while shaped by demands of his time, still feels authentic because it was a reflection of his devotion and creative intent, not solely market-driven objectives.
@@tobieburn It's not a stunt, if you read the New York Times Article it explains it. They are still quitting, they are releasing these videos as a farewell to the fans.
I'm not a musician but a lover of classical music. For me, beyond the fun and humor, the best part of twoset has been learning SO MUCH about classical music, being introduced to artists past and present, developing an even greater love and appreciation for classical music in a fun and inviting way instead of a very dry way. I have also had the fun of introducing others to classical music via twoset. If they opted to go only paid subscription and posted only once a month or something like that, I would join.
Didn't know what to expect, but I LOVE it! The production level has skyrocketed and the message is loud and clear. Mozart/Brett appearing in the end got me laughing so hard. Well done guys! This was well worth the wait.
Right now I'm reading the comments and crying af. Just... I really do love you guys and your content and actually everything... I owe you so many things.... I remember watching the orchestra videos and imagining that one day I will be there and experience all the things you guys are talking about and now after so many years I am a member in one of the orchestras in my city and you know... it's like dreams coming true... and the fact that right now you guys are not with us breaks my heart so badly.... I just wanted to say THANK YOU for everything that you did in these years and You will be missed so so much... 😭🫶
I barely really comment on yt videos, but I just feel like this is one of THOSE videos where I feel the NEED to voice out my thoughts and appreciation. After finding out the news about you guys retiring yt, watching this video made me feel sad, but note that it doesn’t make this MV any less great for me (honestly really cool song, and the quality production of this MV is just really good, not to mention the meaning of it. Truly a masterpiece❤). Though knowing that this may be one of the last videos you guys ever put up on yt, I just want to say that, as someone who’s watched you guys for YEARS (I started watching twoset when I started highschool/7th grade, and now I’m in college), I absolutely enjoyed your videos, from your covers to reactions to the whole instrument wars going on before😂 and everything else. They always make me laugh and entertained. You guys have been a big part of my life when it came to music and have inspired me so much❤ Especially when it came to classical (as a classical lover). I’m sad that I can’t rewatch some of your videos due to them being privated, but I understand and respect your decision regarding it and why you guys are quitting yt. I hope that whatever you guys decide to do on your journey will be filled with success and happiness❤. You guys are honestly not just a good entertainment, but also such an inspiration for a lot of people. It’s always amazing seeing you guys play the violin and also try out other instruments. Just know that we will all still support you on your journey outside of yt, and if you guys EVER decide to come back, we will all still be here❤. Thank you Twosetviolin for everything you’ve done, thank you Brett, Eddy, and all the other people who have helped in your vids. Wishing you guys the best of luck ahead🩷.
Guys, I would like to thank you for all of your work. I really appreciate it. I love your content, i really like your personalities. You bring so much joy. I'm sorry for all of your "fans" that coused that you felt like under the microscope. I'm sorry for all the hate that you received. You are amazing people and you don't deserve this. The true fans understand your decision and will always have your back. Lots of love. May the Ling ling be with you. PS I know that you decided to leave just the top of your best videos. But for us, the fans, all of your videos are the best. So if you could bring them back... It wouldn't be sacreligious at all. PPS you hit 40k ling ling wannabes on insta chat. So go, let Davie 504 wear your merch. Let's teez him one more and last time 😅
Brett and Eddy, In the New York Times article , it indicated you read the comments on the videos, so perhaps you will see this. It is sad and heartbreaking to read about the 50 kilos weight you felt on your shoulders, the scrutiny, abuse, and pressure you endured the last 11 years while creating fun, educational, and joyous content for millions of people. I hope after you a get a true break and had time to reflect on the last 11 years - you feel proud and happy. Proud of all the people you inspired both young and old like me to pick up an instrument and practice. Proud of all the remarkable things you have done. Proud that you accomplished your mission of being the gateway of bringing people into the world of classical music in a fun, relaxed and entertaining way. I live in a city with one of the best orchestras in the world and haven't been to a classical concert in over 30 years before finding your channel - in the last 5 months I went to 4. I hope you have or will look at each other and smile and say "we killed it". I hope you both truly and deeply realize how many people around the world appreciate the work you've done. Thank you for the last 6 farewell videos that you've given everything to. I hope that the next chapter of your life is free of scrutiny, abuse, negativity, 50 kilos weights and is filled with love, light, and joy.
Just chiming in that I too want the old videos back. I learned a lot about classical music through them and it's really sad that they just yoinked them away.
I'm really gonna miss these guys, and I'm actually really upset that they've deleted so many of their videos, although I understand why they did. It's appalling to me that they had to feel the weight they did over their YT career; some people just don't understand how much words can hurt and deal irreparable damage. I'm glad they will continue working together, and I hope they will fully enjoy whatever they decide to do with their lives. Twoset really helped me to become more confident as a teenage classical musician with not many friends who understood and were into classical music. It's amazing how many lives they've touched over their YT years. They fell off my radar for a bit, obviously due to how quiet the channel went, and it's been so shocking to come back to this - but I know that this is the right decision for them, and I applaud them for having the courage to step away from something that's been such a huge part of the last decade. Thank you TwoSet, and good luck! Your fans love you, and if you ever decide to come back, we'll be here waiting
That is really good now. The subtitles are fantastic, thank you. It seems as if the music and singing balance has been adjusted (maybe my imagination). Excellent and beautiful production.
Thank you for everything. I wouldn't be here on Earth today without your channel and I really and truly mean this. Your channel brought me happiness in the lowest part of my life. You made me smile and laugh when I thought I couldn't go on any longer. Thank you soo much. I will miss this channel but I respect your decision. Good luck for the future.
I'm literally crying! Twoset you help normalize the love of classical music so many of us carry while also addressing the world around us. As a classical musician, I so appreciate you, the work you do and the community you foster. Sending love, joy and success on this next iteration!
This is not even classical music, this is them making a sarcastic video of the current music industry using the elements of the current music industry.. And literally rapping lol 💀
Since you guys are actually retiring, thankyou so much for the memories you've filled my childhood with. I used to always run back home from school to see if twoset uploaded 😅🤣. But hope your guys live a wonderful and prosperous life and thx again for the classical music journey you guys brought us through 🥹

Reading the article (thanks for postinit in a comment) i totally understand their decision to step back. Being burned out sucks and not even being able to enjoy a vacation? That's no life. Stay happy and healthy brett and eddy! If you ever decide to come back in a smaller scale I'll be happy. But I'll be happy knowing you're able to enjoy your lifes too.
As an educator myself, you will find many that dismiss your work and knowledge (at first, they usually change their tune). But, it's about all those you do reach...and to that you helped inspire a 46 year old to learn to play the violin (I only played the radio before this). Though, I am far from even "ok", it is fun and I have a new understanding of classical music. Thank you for the education, the laughs, and the inspiration (and continue it in your future, where ever it leads).

Based on their interviews: They do not really felt enthusiastic to be anymore y/t-ers. (11 years, and now they are in their 30s) They announced in August, that their future plan is education, and to make B2STM music videos. Something they feel passionate about. (I do not know about the reason for deleting their videos.)
It is my take, I hope they explain it more.
Edited later: From tsv: We’ll be hosting a live stream hangout on TH-cam on December 21st at 8 PM EST! Grab some bubble tea, and join us as we answer your questions and share some life updates. See you soon.

3:48 it was a huge relief to see Brett, I was so worried during the video, what happened to him...

Dear Brett and Eddy,
Now that the end of TwoSet Violin is officially confirmed, I would like to share my story with your channel.

B2TSM. J.S. Bach, in your era
Canons and toccatas, preludes and cantatas
Can't argue with my fugues, I'm a modal master
Wrote a book in all keys both major minor
Counterpoint king four part designer
You can't stop me, the Baroque writer
Take a moment and hit rewind
Bach in 1685
I had the drive when I first arrived
That’s how you survived in a musical life
Nothing in life ever came so easy
That’s why your lines always sound so cheesy
These days songs have no meaning
I got magical hands, Houdini
Composition is a practice, a practice of creation
Devotion, tradition, beyond the whims of fashion
Composition is a practice, a practice of creation
Love Jesus, He frees us, in sorrow and celebration
Ma’am I need you to take a step Bach
Your generation of music is wack
Music gone from baroque to broke
Uninspired like some kind of joke
Musicality follows the harmony
Now it follows the greed, money hungry
If it lasts a year, you’d be lucky
Like toccata and fugue, you can’t outrun me
Same four chords no variation
Techniques but no application
These kids just lack dedication
What got lost in translation?
The reason of music is God
I see right through your facade
Making music with no disregard
J dot J dot, Jesu juva
Composition is a practice, a practice of creation
Devotion, tradition, beyond the whims of fashion
Composition is a practice, a practice of creation
Love Jesus, He frees us, in sorrow and celebration
Music soli Deo gloria
Making you feel euphoria
Compositional warrior
You got J.S. Bach in your era
Yeah, pitch, I said what I said
You stay tired chasing the trends
Don’t let all that get to your head
Bring me Bach? I’d rather stay dead
I need music that comes from the heart
That's how you know you made art
The reason that sets you apart
The joy you impart
I give thanks to my God of creation
To spread joy is my motivation
Advice for this generation
Go Bach to your foundation
Music revives the soul
But you can't match my tone
Think you can test me son?

Agreed!
People mostly weren't upset about them retiring, they were upset about their lack of communication and abrupt deletion of all of their videos. but go off
exactly! they really do owe us nothing. and I'll watch whatever they put out whenever they do❤❤
@@asdfasdfadsfasdf Right, I was so happy thinking they're starting a new chapter in their life away from youtube; we wouldn't know what they're up to, but we could imagine them doing pretty well

But then they posted... well... some people will still enjoy this, I guess
eh, nevermind, I just read one comment explaining that this is not rebranding and they will finish with the channel, so all good, except I wish I got that info from them not a random comment

They sure will. This I guess, is just a come-BACH hit
Maybe the contract issue…
Do we know what happened to their old videos?

Repost, since I kinda hope they'll see this.
Dear (not?-) Twoset
First of all, goodness gracious!
The part about music being an expression of devotion is >>>>
Not all music has to be, but the best music is. That's why I love Sufi rock and devotional poetry and music in the Islamic tradition. I don't know a whole lot about western classical music, but Brett and Eddy helped me appreciate it more. I don't make music, but one day I'd like to try.

Bach’s music, while shaped by demands of his time, still feels authentic because it was a reflection of his devotion and creative intent, not solely market-driven objectives.
you cannot be for real this is not what they got rid of the twoset channel for
Yep! All for some weird, stupid business stunt. Still, Daniel Thrasher's here to keep us company.
Their videos are privated not deleted tho
@@tobieburn It's not a stunt, if you read the New York Times Article it explains it.
They are still quitting, they are releasing these videos as a farewell to the fans.
@@Extex_ oic thats a bit poop
Could you give me info, I'm not following up with what's going on? @@Extex_

OKAY EVERYBODY STAY CALM WHATS THE PROCEDURE STAY CALM!!! THEY ARE BACH!!!!!
Save Bandit!
We love you both, and we will miss you terribly. Thank you for these last labors of love.
Miss u so much! Thanks for coming bach.
3:17 ”bring me Back I’d rather stay dead” HIT
Didn't know what to expect, but I LOVE it!
The production level has skyrocketed and the message is loud and clear.
Mozart/Brett appearing in the end got me laughing so hard.
Well done guys!
This was well worth the wait.
Glad there's subtitles now, came back to rewatch after seeing the Mozart one was subbed. Can properly appreciate the lyricism now :)
Thank you guys for all the fun memories, laughs and memes. The journey has been incredible and I'm proud of you. Good luck on your next chapter!
The Christmas gift we needed and got.
1:56 "music gone from baroque to broke"
Let's teez him one more and last time 😅
Well said, thank you 👍😄
Brett and Eddy,
In the New York Times article , it indicated you read the comments on the videos, so perhaps you will see this.
Well said!
Thank you for saying that, I share a lot of the same thoughts.
Just chiming in that I too want the old videos back. I learned a lot about classical music through them and it's really sad that they just yoinked them away.
The hard work they put in. Nobody is noticing the level of the video? I mean, the references, the lyrics. B2TSM came loaded! ❤🔥
I was just thinking the same thing! Everyone's freaking out about the situation and missing the amazing MV! People are strange.
Guys, it's over. They are not coming back, just releasing 6 music videos as a farewell. Read the New York Times article. I will miss them.
Thank you for the past four years since I found your channel. I truly appreciate what you brought to my daily life.
Since you guys are actually retiring, thankyou so much for the memories you've filled my childhood with. I used to always run back home from school to see if twoset uploaded 😅🤣. But hope your guys live a wonderful and prosperous life and thx again for the classical music journey you guys brought us through 🥹
Thank you TwoSet Brett, Eddy and crew for all that you taught me, all the laughs and your commitment for this eleven years I'm sure It wasn't easy but you guys pull through!!! and truly deserve a break 😊😊 I wish you the best for all your plans in the future!!!❤❤
Ps: 👉🏻👈🏻As a last wish from a fan for 7 years would you PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring back the old videos I really missed them😢you introduce me to classical music and I used to get my "new" pieces to listen to from them PLEASE 🥺

Random person from France but happy birthday. May this new year of your life be full of blessings 🎉
Happy birthday from a random guy in the US!
@@jeanettegirosky7735 yoooo happy birthday!!
