Glad to see you got one. Not a bad price, especially since it already had the fast hitch on it. I always make sure I set my lift lever stops so I don't put the driveshaft in a bind on mine.
Looks good where you went Joe!. I have an old Flyin' Scot that's probably as old as I am. The main thing you want to remember is start stopping before you get there as the bush hog wants to keep pushing you. You were exactly right about not raising the back lift all the way up as the drive shaft will hit the cross bar on your fast hitch. I usually set the touch control stop so I can only raise it 2/3s or so. When you get that hitch fixed right, you'll have a great bush hog.
Can't beat the price. You did good with what things cost now days. Cuts good too. You still making the ole 140 earn her keep. You may want to add an override clutch to it so if you have to stop quickly the bush hog dosen't keep pushing your tractor. Keep the videos coming.
Forgot to mention but you probably already know, keep the deck clean and it will last a lifetime. I have an old bush hog and it is still solid. Used it yesterday. I blow it off with my leaf blower. I see people that leave trash on theirs after they use it, after it rains it stays wet and rusts out.
Looks just like the one we had. Grandpa traded it when he got the 150 Massey with a 5’ Bushog. Ours was a house brand as well. Would be crazy if that was once his.
Congratulations Joey, I know you will enjoy that! I would try find an over running clutch to put the PTO shaft, but that 140 will surprise you with what it can take down!
@@Jtwes yes, that's the standard size shaft, I think they go by the number of splines on the shaft if I remember correctly. But you should recognize it, it's the same on both sides, male and female side.
No one is gonna complain about how you use that brush cutter. Looked like you had used one your whole life. Great job and video Joey! I will say, I have seen a bunch of Howse one point brush hogs, and this is the first one I have seen where it had the issue with the stabilizer. Strange, but your thought on fixing it will solve the problem. Thank you again for sharing!
Sweet! Hey are you trying to be like me? Lol. Remember I bought the 6' one (Bush-hog brand) awhile back from one of my neighbors and my other neighbor did some bracing and welding repairs on it. Wound up having $400 in it when all was said and done and was very happy. For my 274. Like I always say, when you find something you're looking for and you've got the money you better buy it! That is if it's ok with your wife....he-he! Looks nice. Gear-box and sharp blades ( but you already know that I'm sure.) Take care, Bobby.
I didn’t ever see the guy I bought it from just spoke on the phone. Wound up when he brought it over to the house it was a guy I went to high school with. He was a couple years under me. Said it was his grandpas and he bet he didn’t use it 5 times
I’ve bush hogged many acres with a SA. I’ve also worn 2 Howes BH out, but I was clearing woods and generally misusing them but I’ve got my 3rd now and being much more gentle with it. Used each one about 15 yrs apiece.
Looks like it does a good job. Now I have to get one for my trails and small spots. The batwing is good for big places. I forgot to tell you we had a 100 and had the 3 point hitch kit on it and I bush hogged a lot with it when I was young and if it would ride it over she would grind it up with a 5 foot bush hog. Good video Joey.
I have a 1974 Farmall 140 and a 5 foot Woods Dixie Cutter mower behind it. What is the best way to UNHOOK the mower from the tractor and remove that part after pulling up on the fast hitch?
I didn’t think that tractor had a pto. Huh shock the crap outa me!!! And you could Also clear little bit that brush around your field to make another patch that would make a good video as well!
That probably one of the worst attachments for a 140 lol I get in something Heve it shakes the hole tractor 2 thang that I can give u advice on is take a pease of heavy wire and rap the release cupler on the point to keep it from shaking a Luce and also get u a over run clutch
I'm cringing watching this knowing how close someone was following behind that bush hog!!😬😬😬😳👀 If I knew you had a drone and it was on the follow me setting that's different!

Yep. Me, too.
Hey Johnny , thought about you the other day. Thank you again for coming out to plow with us.
Love it!! Luring alot about the small farmall tractors!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank Justin God Bless

I didn’t show it but I had clips on my touch control to keep me from raising it to far.
You can get an over run clutch, to stop that. My Yanmar would do the same thing if I didn't run one.
@@natevanlandingham1945 Thank you sir! Now that you mention it, I think my great uncle had one on his 140.

I was looking for that to happen but I didn’t notice it doing that today. Probably still will get one for it.

Ended up finding out the guy I bought it from was Couple years behind me in school. He said it was his grandpas

Will the ones at tractor supply work. I got to get some dog food today.

I get the corn shelled I’m going to take it to rogers and get it wielded.
Looks like a good bit of kit to join your collection all the best , be safe don't take chances with unguarded PTO shafts best wishes from N Ireland .
Thank you Frank, Definitely will not be letting any one near the shaft.
I've done a lot of bushhogging with a SA and homemade 3 pt. Good find.
Just need to do a couple of modifications and she will be right.
Good job on the bush hogging Mr. Joe👍. And you got it at a good price too. Keep that 140 working buddy
Thank You sir

I might have to put a little IH red on this one, spruce it up a little.
Looks good to me. Long Distance Farmer has a few videos running one on a 140.
I’m learning a little on it each time I use it.

Just got to get it in the shed somewhere now.
Don't see a thing wrong with that. Definitely worth the money
I had it own my mind to get a new one from Brandon. Then I saw this one.
This will help with the corn stalks mow them down then harrow they will mulch better another good show
That’s about 90% why I got it. The bog disk does a good job it just doesn’t mulch it up.
I have a 1974 Farmall 140 and a 5 foot Woods Dixie Cutter mower behind it. What is the best way to UNHOOK the mower from the tractor and remove that part after pulling up on the fast hitch?
You just have to make sure the mower is not bearing up or down on the fast hitch prong and pop the clutch a little bit.
Thanks. I currently have a flat right rear tire and was wondering if I need to remove the mower behind it to jack up and remove the flat tire.
@@AriesRocker68 I wouldn’t think so.

She’s bad to bone Ben lol
👍👍
The buttons and shafts always get froze up. I sometimes have to do that between the seasons. Yea those blades also get hung sometimes like that.
I hope to get one of my sheds back and move the mowers back over there and put the bush hog in the shed.
👍
Do you have to have an offset bushhog or no?
I still have the one in that video. It’s not offset I don’t think.

Definitely going to pick up a over running clutch.
Nice 👍🏻
Does anyone know where you can find one 4 sale in n c
Facebook market place. Or Burch store tractors can get them new.
Just like my zgrandpas
How wide is it?
I didn’t measure it . I need to but if I had to guess I would say 4 ft
@@Jtwes thank you. I have a 5' that I may try to modify to work on my 140 , was wondering how it would handle it
I have a 5 foot Howse for my 140, it will pull threw most all grass in 2nd gear, it will surprise ya, but for sure want the overrunning clutch
Oh and I saw the live after the fact but meant to tell ya I can cook a mean stew.
Be careful might have to take you up on that.
You provide the ingredients I got the pot 👍

Will said he didn’t get to close. I wasn’t watching him to much.
You are having too much fun.
Cameraman needs to be careful walking behind it. Those mowers can throw rocks fast.
Yes sir just like a bullet from a rifle!
I told him the same. It was William.
👍👍
