Binty if you're planning to revisit this, try going to one of those terminals and reading through some enemy entries. They give some hints at their weaknesses and strength and sometimes suggest some cool stuff you could try out for yourself. Giant Ultrakill fan here and seeing you play this game made me so happy. Plenty of folks have mentioned the shotgun parry, but I want to shout out "shotgun swapping." After firing a shot (as soon as the bullets leave the shotty), press the weapon style swap ("E" by default on the keyboard) to switch to the other shotgun. You can then fire immediately, as it the swap cancels the reload animation. This HEAVILY increases fire rate. You can do this back and forth forever if you time it right and it makes taking down tougher enemies much easier as long as you don't mind getting in their faces.
Side Note: Shotgun parry refers to parrying using a shotgun instead of your fists. The term you are probably looking for is Projectile Boosting, or ProBoosting, which refers to punching your shotgun's bullet.

If you dont mind, Id like to talk about the shotgun a bit, since there's a lot to it and its REALLY fun once you understand it. -If you punch with the blue arm as soon as the shotgun fires, you can punch a pellet so fast that it will explode. -The green shotgun has a faster firerate at the cost of a very slight decrease in damage (fires 2 less pellets than the blue shotgun), its well worth using. -You can overcharge the green shotgun to explode, and dash as soon as you fire to avoid the self-damage from the explosion. -You are able to parry enemy attacks with a well timed shotgun blast right as they attack. -If you shoot and cycle between the shotgun variations fast enough, you can skip their reload animations. its as simple as mashing E after the shotgun fires.

parrying King Minos's fist was an unforgettable moment of accomplishment for me. Was the first time in this game i got the timing on parrying attacks and it was SO GOOD.
Highly recommend that you check out the secret missions, they're all very unique. Also, there's a cool boss if you p-rank each level in Prelude and Act 1 (i think). Difficulty doesn't matter for unlocking the boss.

This video really sold me on this game. I don't know why. Gabriel and his music, actually fighting an angel in this game (didn't expect that got some reason) The Vinny reference? Honestly I don't think so, while cool, I don't think it single handledly sold me.
Game is really awesome, I can recommend it fully. I have about 60 hours on it. I have done every secret, I have done every single stage on Perfect in every single difficulty. I'm absolutely in love with it. At the beginning it might seem a little rough but it's one of those games that the better you get at it, it just get insanely more fun. You'll be able to pull tricks and perform so well, it's glorious. Go for it!

people have been helpful below but in case anyone hasn't said it yet: dashing with shift gives you i-frames, great for avoiding attacks AND you can purposefully blow up your green shotgun, then dash at the same time to avoid damage
Remember, you gotta P rank the whole first part to unlock that, Vinny definitely isn't gonna go through that just to try and beat an insanely hard boss.
I hope Vinny revisits this soon, now with all of Act 2 being out and Act 3 coming soon, hope he revisits this fantastic shooter here soon. I just hope some fans haven't scared him off of it.
Since Vinny asked: Easter itself is actually 8 days long followed by a Easter season which lasts 50 days until Pentecost. So technically, the devs can keep the bunny ears on everything for quite a while if they want to. :)
The second encounter with V2 is one of the best bossfights in video games for me. I died so many times, but it somehow stayed fun without getting frustrating for me. I got so focused on the next move at some point that I didn't even realize what happened after beating the first phase. The it finishes off with an over-the-top cinematic sequence, fighting V2 while sliding down the pyramid. What an awesome game.

hey vin im a bit of an ultrakill expert here and id recommend you try the secret levels (without spoiling them for yourself) they are really wild and nothing you would expect (also hold left click and spam swap between the two shotguns)
hey, i'm only 30 minutes in so i might make incorrect assumptions, but a few tips: your big claw punch can create an explosive shockwave if you keep holding f for a bit, it's great at taking out those armless green grunts and also, any damage dealt will heal you if you are close enough to your enemy, it isn't only punches also if you press the key for your gun slot again it'll cycle between modes, like for example if you press 4 you'll select the rail cannon but if you press 4 again after that you'll have the screwdriver this one might not serve as much but i'm pretty sure parrying any attack will always heal you a bunch, and the list of attacks you can parry is surprisingly big

Ultrakill is fantastic, i hope they can finish this game one day, it's one of my favorites so far
they're working at a steady pace. devs have been in consistent contact about how things are going which is great
There is a secret in act one that needs you to p rank every level for a hidden boss and it does not disappoint
