Awesome throwback! I really wished they had finished the OVA series, but alas it just wasn't meant to be. This also makes me want to rewatch Excel Saga! XD
Sad, but true, sometimes series just don't make it like others do. Lol, I couldn't revisit Excel Saga, myself. It's a good show and I really enjoyed my time with it originally, but once was enough for me. Though, for some reason Puni Puni Poemi has been calling to me recently. I think it's because I need to make sure it wasn't a fever dream the first time I watched it.
I remember watching this in like... highschool. Maybe middleschool? I agree though, excel saga was way more exhausting to watch, it never gave you time to get used to what it was making fun of before switching genre. Dragon half was way more fun.
"Damaramu will ever regret this!" (Dies. Again) This was one of my favorite animes back in the day. It was silly mindless stupidity and a parody of D&D. And even though Mink's costume was revealing, and there was a lot of sexual humor, it wasn't really about sex. It was just a bunch of teenaged girls (excluding the underaged Pia and including the antagonist Vina) with too much hormones and not enough common sense. The fact that Dick Saucer was oblivious to their crushes on him was part of the joke. It was just wacky and silly and there was really no plot at all. Even the nude scene at the end is just fanservice, as lampshaded by the voice actress's performance. I would have liked to see the next two volumes animated but the manga didn't really have a plot either. It probably could have gone on forever if there had been a demand for it.
Damaramu was a fun character with a really fun name to say lol. I remember when I first rented the show, and was really happy with my decision. It's a solid watch for anyone who enjoys a good gag anime with a little spice. I, also, would have loved to see the next 2 episodes animated.
I still haven't had a chance to read the mange fully yet, but I did see some references from what I read up to. It only makes sense that there are references from such an influential game, though.
when i hear "dragon half" i think "my omelette"
Such a charming ova! Wish we got more of it:)
Agreed. The girls super cute. I might buy the manga
It's shame that it wasn't enjoyed by more people at the time of release.
For shame. I love Excel Saga.
I'll love this too!
Lol Don't get me wrong, I love Excel Saga, but it can be a bit much for me sometimes. Also, I'm sure you will enjoy Dragon Half, it is really fun!
One of the gags in the manga was that Lufa's mom and dad were named Zelda and Link, and Pia's were named Mario and Peach.
Sounds like Ryuusuke Mita was also a Nintendo fan lol.
Another fun OVA, wish we got more, still needs to be on blu ray.....like so many things from the 80's and 90's.
SO RIGHT! I actually looked for a blu-ray version and was sad to see it was only on DVD. I still like my precious shiny DVDs, though lol.

Never seen excel saga. Is it any good ?
@@MoriaGecko1 Personally, I really like it and if you like the humor/slapstick in Dragon Half, you’ll probably enjoy it!

This ova was fun though it's disappointing that there's only two. Though if there's a very slim shot, maybe there might be a chance for a reboot
Yeah, I like it enough that I would want to see more. The OVA itself and the Manga just isn't enough.

No hate to Excel Saga, but I don't think I could revisit it.

I do wish they would have continued the series I love the manga
Yeah, it would have been really nice to see what else they had in store for the OVA.
The manga spoofs Dragon Quest a lot.

2nd!!!!!!
uh oh you're slipping lol!
