    We were able to get mileage pay for taking a flight there and back. I just got home from Georgia Friday. I'm from Buffalo, NY.

      That’s awesome! Did you tell them it was for flight mileage or did you just enter the mileage from your terminal like the rest of the class? Either way I’m glad you were able to get some of the expense cash back. I’d like to update this if you asked to enter flight miles and the trainers okayed it👍🏻 Let me know when you can and congrats on completing your first two weeks!

      @Kurtis Charlton I did ask and specifically mentioned that I flew into Atlanta for school. I was really surprised and happy of course. Did the pay and got approved. Dig your videos bud.

      @@timroche444 Good stuff. I get that question a lot from people heading to McDonough and mileage for flying was always a no go. Glad they changed it up. That 13 hour drive sucked lol Appreciate you watching man. Stay safe out there👍🏻

      @Kurtis Charlton I was told we are paid weekly but still haven't received any loot. This is the start of my third week now. What gives? Btw , sitting in a hotel in Toledo right now 😄

      @@timroche444 They hold two weeks and pay date depends on the pay cycle. I'd Imagine you'll get your first check on Friday. If you log into your Employee Resource Center you can see you pay stubs and pay rotation. Have someone show you that. You can actually see your next paycheck on pay day.

    If you live 3 hours away from station you hired in with...( will be moving soon to be closer) I'd probably be staying in a hotel out of pocket until I do get local right? How long can I expect to be gone? I've heard a few days to months

      NS gives you two hours to report on most occasions. Rarely 90 minutes. There are folks that live in Cleveland Ohio and work in Pittsburgh, PA (2 1/2 away). If the terminal needs help they are a bit more flexible. Some terminals also have dorms depending on your location. Your schedule is 6/2 or six days on and 2 days off. During training you will work all six days on most weeks. Once you are on the extra board as a conductor, you will work 3 days some weeks to 6 others. Just depends on the need at your terminal and how many people have called off that day. Some times of the year are also busier. During the summer expect to work all of your days every week. As an extra board employee you are essentially a "fill in" for anywhere that needs help. Yards jobs, road trains, industry servicing etc. The longer you are there you may bid on jobs that have set schedules or hop on to road pools that pay was more money because the hours are longer. Your hotel for road trains is paid for by NS. You just have to accommodate for when you are home.

      It varies depending on home many applicants they have. I interviewed in August when I applied and didn’t get a start date until late December for January

    Hey thanks for the information but I thought we get 185 per day? Isn’t not set up for our direct deposit?

    • @KurtisCharlton
      @KurtisCharlton  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do get $185 Per day worked from day one through the end of On The Job Training. Your first paycheck will be direct deposit but they hold the first two weeks. You wont get your first paycheck for 28 days from the day you start at school. You will however get your meal stipend of $140.00 every Wednesday during training which is direct deposit. 👍🏻🚂

    Are they allowing or hiring people to move to different terminals? I live in Macon, would apply for the Macon position but would they allow me to move if I wanted to apply to Raliegh if I chose to move? We want to get out of Mid Ga

    • @KurtisCharlton
      @KurtisCharlton  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as that terminal in Raleigh is hiring you can apply there. If you onboard at one location you’ll have to wait 6 months to a year to transfer. If you wait long enough the join the go team/travel team they will actually pay you to move to other terminals that need conductors. Cincinnati was offering 40K to conductors in my class to move there during my week five training. That stipend in on top of your salary. They just stroke a check for 40K.

      @@KurtisCharlton jesus that would be nice, not the money, the opportunity to move. So if I'm in Macon, and want to apply to a job in PA, they could hire me there and I could move? The reason I ask is I was just outside of 1.5 hours from a CSX terminal years ago and they rejected my application for being too far away

    Very silly question but are pets allowed on the hotels?

    • @R_A_3000
      @R_A_3000 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some hotels allow pets but you can't bring a pet with you when working on the railroad.
      That's a automatic safety violation because you'll be distracted with your pet.

    Do they give you your mileage pay before you leave

    • @KurtisCharlton
      @KurtisCharlton  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. Milage is paid out after you return. They pay you the mileage from your home terminal to the training center and back.
