Good afternoon, greetings from new big houses Chihuahua Mexico, I was a train driver on the Chihuahua to the Pacific railroad, and I always follow trains, I congratulate all the railroad workers and fans
Thanks man! Much like yourself, I'm a fan of any locomotive. It's just the thrill of being next to this machine that puts out 4,400 horsepower, that never gets old!
I work for NS. I am SO glad somebody was nice enough to show u the cab. I wish I could let people on the motor but if we get caught they will fire us so I can't risk my job :( CN has MUCH nicer units complete with hot plates and some have microwaves. I am a conductor and I have not ridden this motor yet.
I wish I couldd go inside of this unit because its my favorite but again my time will come when I apply for NS myself I hope to journey on this particular unit because its my favorite on the NS roster
I have been on that engine. When I was on it, the toilet overflowed because it was full. Blue water overflowed into the cabin. My engineer and I had to piss off the catwalk. Not everything is pretty paint and easy schedules. Good luck Ohio Rail Films. I hope you didn't tell them you like trains or you are still looking for that job.
Matt - railfan terds? Seriously? People like what they like. Youre very lucky. And it was not that long ago when railroaders were very friendly to those who cherished their work - that has changed with lawyers and litigation proliferating. But the memory of a train stopping, and the engineer letting me ride with him for a mile or two, sustained me as a kid. Its a shame that things are not like they used to be.
Yes, the mechanic crew was doing routine inspections before the train left the yard later that evening. The engine model is an ES44AC (built by GE), the locomotive is only a few months old, hence the brand new look on the inside. Norfolk Southern has painted 20 engines in the paint schemes of its predecessor railroads to commemorate its 30th anniversary, which has become the "heritage fleet".
Just love the way the American locomotive’s are built ( just like ford muscles) looks humongous and intimidating....and coming to the footage thanks for sharing...it was nice to know about...wished that they would let u honk😝....enjoyed watching it thanks for sharing....a fellow Indian rail enthusiast
Thank you for posting the video of this beautiful girl when she was still shiny and new. And thank you to your friends at NS for allowing it. When I was a kid in the 80's I barely can remember getting to go into the cab of a diesel locomotive. I can't remember any more detail than that other than it was one of my parents' friends that worked for the railroad. his CB handle was Freight Train. :)
Thanks for posting a video of this beautiful Pennsylvania heritage unit. I love the sharp immaculate paint job along with the distinctive sounds of the heavy horses.
The second engine was actually started right after 8102 was fired up, I *think* that sound has something to do with the reverser. Thanks a lot man and glad you enjoyed it!
Great video my friend. I've been lucky enough to be in the cab of multiple locomotives, my most favorite being the SD70AC. The others included an ES44AH, AC6000CW, C40-8, and more. It's quite a thirll to be inside one of these locmotives. I'm sure being in one of Norfolk Southern's Heritage Units was amazing. Great video!
Sorry to hear that man, it's worth making a trip to see these engines. Norfolk Southern did a phenomenal job with them. Thanks man, I'm really thankful that I was able to do this.
*Great audio...* I'm amazed at how automated or computerized that thing is! It's just a locomotive... LOL maybe that's why a recent Amtrak I took between Los Angeles and San Diego arrived right on time within 1 to 3 minutes???
Oh, man! Great! I saw 8102 cross over the Rockville Bridge about 2 weeks ago, but you got a much better view than I did, lol. The engineer's accent is cool too.
Thank you for this video, especially for the footage inside the short hood. I always wondered what was in there. I also always wondered why the engine start switch itself is not in the cab.
Thanks for the inside view. Did not realize they continued the exterior paint inside. Was expecting the usual green or gray like you find on school buses.
Thanks for the awesome video. I can feel what its really like to be a Conductor. I plan to watch more of your videos and give them a like, plus subscribe. Keep them coming!!!!
@@itzmason-roblox5985 it didn’t they just do regular testing on any train before leaving some rail yards they don’t do this every day but they do it once in a while to a locomotive
I am jealous! I'm from NJ and have done some railfan videos, but never had a chance to catch a heritage unit - and I would love to just see the PRR one, let alone get inside it! Are there any websites or anything that tell where the NS heritage units will be in a given area?
Great vid! You're so lucky to have gotten up close and personal. I have yet to see any of the heritage units here in Pittsburgh, PA. I really would love to see 8102, my great grandfather worked for the Pennsy at Enola yards. I know there are sites that track where they've been, I wish NS would make a list of where they will BE.
I know this is an old comment. But of all Heritage Units I seen the Wabash, Illinois Interstate and one of the green ones living in Pittsburgh. The Wabash was the best because it was my first.
this by far is the coolist thing ever, touring a train let alone a heritage, the one thing i really noticed is at the end of the video when it was pulling out, it sounds like the 2nd engine starting up?, still very cool & great video.
All of the GE ENGINES FROM 2014 on up will have Nathan K5HLL's PER GE. I have a Friend that works for them and he gives me an Update about once or twice a week about whats happening with the locomotives and one's that are being built.
I wondered about that too. I think it means the engine has stopped but is still on line. I'm sure the engineer has some indication if anything's wrong. Maybe he had to take the signal and pull onto the main before attending to the problem, if any.
james d mehl the locomotives physically connected to the lead motor are mu'd to the leader with cables. DP is usually locomotives elswhere in the train controlled by radios from the leader.
I saw the Engineer or is it the Diesel fitter performing the safety tests for preparation for traffic? Good to see those tests being done. It is good procedure.
Nice. Been inside Belton, Grandview, and Kansas City 102 (Ex-HESR GP9) and BNSF 1531 (Ex-Burlington Northern GP28-2). I didn't have a camera for the GP9, but I did for the GP28-2, but it wasn't working. Got to blow the horn in both of them. I did shave and a haircut in the GP28-2.

I retired as a Fireman and Engineer in 1986 with 41 years of service. These locomotive have changed since I retired, awesome film :-)

Such a beautiful sight to see when inside the cab!
Thats a moment that is impossible to forget. Nice video and that is really cool that you were able to even get close to the unit.
Thanks man! Much like yourself, I'm a fan of any locomotive. It's just the thrill of being next to this machine that puts out 4,400 horsepower, that never gets old!
Ignoring the obvious trolls, this is a very nice video that I appreciate you posting.
That is one beautiful loco. I love the old PRR shield on the front.
The paint scheme looks amassing. It was realy nice for the N.S. Engineer to have you in the engine cab. Thanks for sharing one great video. Nick

Thanks man! Those engines are so nice from the inside, I'm sure the crews love them!
It truly was, this was my first time being in an evolution series engine and I can now see why the crews and railroads prefer these engines.

I’ve always wanted to see the inside of a locomotive and now I have! Thank you 😀
Thanks man! We had permission to board the engine from people of much higher authority than the train crew.
Cool video. And finally there are no negative comments about the GE locomotive so far.
Thank you sir that was beautiful love the shots and posts God Bless to all engineers and fans

When 8103 was pre heritage unit. Now it’s a Norfolk and western HeritageUnit. Nice video and cool cab tour.

Awsome! Thanks for sharing your tour with all of us! Loved it and extremely jeleous!

Nice video and enjoyed the tour of the cab. Very nicely done
That is one really sharp beautiful looking locomotive
Thanks Kevin! I'm glad my dad and I were able to do this.
This is a Beautiful locomotive how technology has advanced over the years.

Nice, my favourite heritage unit ever!
Pennsylvania Railroad is my favorite 😍. It looked as beautiful inside as outside.
Nice video. Never would of imagined a train crew letting a railfan in the cab of a heritage unit. Awesome video dude.
Awesome experience! I hope someday I will get the chance to check out the inside of one of these big GEs :)
4:04: What's that vintage phone bell? Activation of the brake compressor?
Awesome video!!! Very fun to see the inside of this locomotive!!! Thank you for sharing!!! :)
Excelente tren mercante de gran longitud y belleza, congratulaciones por el vídeo!!!! Saludos desde España

When the reverser gets moved at 4:03, why does it ring like that?
That was awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this!
5:51 best part of the video
She is a beauty !
VERY nice video!! How did you make the conductors let you get in? Your so lucky:)
The SD40-2's lashed up together is quite a show to see in action!
Love it when it honked when it was leaving and the bell
Thanks first time I saw the cab. In yah past seen Bangalore India. Very nice.
This is way too cool Steve. Phenomenal video!
Pretty cool content! You should do more videos like this, if possible, in the near future
Awesome video 👍🏻
Man she's pretty.
So good to Ser the Pennsy stripes love it!💕💕💕
Great vid 👍🏻
Super Video👍👍👍
Best greetings
Thomas
Love that colour
It's Tuscan red
Indeed. It is to my understanding that this configuration for the control stand is standard for NS, even on their modern units.
That actually wasn't the engineer, it was one of the mechanics making sure everything was working as it was supposed to.
CSXACe yep. We dont want any heritage units not working. They are the rarest trains EVER.
CSXACe why did it break down
CSXACe when was that heritage unit built?
@@saskatchewanrailfan8149 I think this locomotive was built in 2012.
@@itzmason-roblox5985 it didn’t they just do regular testing on any train before leaving some rail yards they don’t do this every day but they do it once in a while to a locomotive

That is awesome that you got a cab tour.

In the beginning that train horn sounds really good what kind of horn is that
Nice video. It reminds me of the old red (and rare) GG1's. I wonder if this unit will find itself in the Strasburg Railroad Museum.

Very big locomotive very nice friend, greetings 👍
ahhh there is my lovely doll...Pennsylvania Railroad is my fave railroad :)
LONG GONE! Trippy.
Beautiful resto
What horn does it have? Sounds amazing!!
A Nathan Airchime K5HL Evolution horn. From a distance, sounds like the fourth generation Nathan Airchime K5LLA.
Awesome thank you for the info!
+Kyle Genthon Wrong its a NATHAN K5HLL Horn!!
GRE 2057 You can ask GE, they install Nathan Airchime K5HL Evolutions.
All of the GE ENGINES FROM 2014 on up will have Nathan K5HLL's PER GE. I have a Friend that works for them and he gives me an Update about once or twice a week about whats happening with the locomotives and one's that are being built.
At 4:05 was that the reverser making that sound?
That is the wheel slip warning. It does that if the handbrake is still on when the reverser is moved to forward or reverse.
Lucky, Its about time a NS heritage unit got up in Northern NJ, i hope to catch one this summer!
Is it just me or does someone yell Hey! as he in climbing on the train?
CheezeIII odoy yeah I heard it too
I heard it
yeah, after hearing that, i was waiting for the railroad police to turn up.
same
I heard it loud and clear.
Awesome video man! And very cool brand new loco!
Alarm bell ringing in NS 8013 at 7:40?
I wondered about that too. I think it means the engine has stopped but is still on line.
I'm sure the engineer has some indication if anything's wrong. Maybe he had to take the signal and pull onto the main before attending to the problem, if any.
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing this!!
Awesome video! And that is a rare opportunity for any railfan.
Gotta love those NS Heritage units! 5 *

Thanks for the tour!
