People always focus on names.
Fact is Knicks were basically top 5 in offense & defense- and top 2 rebounding. That means they have a chance, like about 5 other contenders do.
Brunson has proven to be able to put the team on his back in the playoffs. If everyone is healthy & Randle has his playoff moment, Knicks will be tough to beat
Mind you, top defense during the time when Mitch played and then when they had OG on the court. Only reason their overall numbers didn't amount to first place was because guys were injured.

Mikal was a steep price but they got Brunson on a good contract for essentially free so you maximize the luck, good evaluation, or Rick Brunson tampering and go get some instant chemistry as well as an in demand good wing in Bridges.
Steep in terms of draft compensation, but super cheap in terms of contract. Brunson and Bridges combined make less than Bradley Beal in Phoenix.

Is it tho ? If it pans and the Knicks are bottom 5 team then yes it's a bad trade. But the Knicks are betting themselves that they'll be a playoffs team for the next few yrs at worse so the picks they gave up isn't terrible. Because of the chemistry and the it the fact they're betting on themselves and I think it's a good bet the picks would be low first rounders

And minutes? Brunson averaged 35 minutes🤡 not top 20 in the league. Hart averaged 33 minutes (with knicks missing starting forwards)
Randle had a freak fall & dislocated shoulder. How the hell is that Thibs fault? OG played low minutes & got injured shortly after arriving… Thibs fault?

This is a new era for the Knicks and its fans. The front office is following a PLAN. The owner has stayed away. The Knicks turned over their ENTIRE roster, minus Julius, in the 4 years Leon Rose has been at the helm.
Many of today’s Knicks fans are too young to remember the Ewing Knicks.
Most of the fans really don’t know how to feel or know what to believe about this team. This is so new!!
The Knicks have 2 bona fide ALL-STARS on its roster and a slew of very good role players.
Bridges just seems to fit. OG is the wild card. This team is better with Divo and Hart off the bench anyway.
McBride has another season under his belt.
I would love to see iHart remain, but he might not be able to resist the extra Benjamin’s - and that’s his right.

The Knicks, last year, were 12-2 with Randle and OG in the lineup. They can co-exist. Getting a healthy Randle back is like signing a free agent.

The Celtics are an excellent team, and other than Porzingus (late) they were very fortunate to stay healthy.
The Knicks have taken a methodical approach to become relevant again.
Objectively speaking, if both teams remain healthy, I believe they will fight for the EC.
I love this trade for the Knicks. One this lets me know the Knicks are all in on Jalen Brunson as their superstar. This is his team and, Mikal Bridges fits him perfectly. By adding Mikal Bridges it allows for Jalen Brunson to be his best self. With one of the best wing tandems in the NBA the Knicks can hide Brunson more on the defensive end. On the offensive end Mikal Bridges and, OG Anunoby don't need the ball and they are both good from 3. On top of that the Knicks have Julius Randle who can create for not only himself but, others. Jalen Brunson also has great chemistry with Mikal Bridges already. By locking up both OG Anunoby and, Mikal Bridges it allows for Josh Hart and, Donte DiVincenzo to come off the bench. The Knicks have a great roster from top to bottom
I just think that we just got Mikal a first option last season as our 3rd option... plus a guy o.g. as 3rd option its gonna be hard to stop us offensively and defensively we are gonna be a top team.. rebounds and having donte divencenzo and josh hart off bench two main starters on a great playoff team this year. Best bench in league.

Trade idea: Knicks trade Julius Randle to Thunder for Jalen Williams and Luguentz Dort.
Why would OKC give up 2 key guys?? Randle doesnt fit the teams age. Jalen Williams is a future star hes like 21 or 22 year old.
@@clutch7548 OKC is in win now mode. They are not going to win simply by holding onto young pieces. Randle gives them more firepower in the frontcourt to compete with Minnesota and he also gives their team a huge scoring boost. They also just traded for Caruso so they don't have as big of a need to keep Dort. Also, by trading away Giddey, it makes them more a half court style offense and Randle fits into that style more. Also, Randle is a huge rebounding upgrade to Williams as well as a scoring upgrade.
Dumb, Knicks have enough role players. Randle is needed.
