The best and , for me, the most beloved fact about Bolero is how it gradually grows! It starts as a single, faint sound of a single instrument and grows in a way a hurricane grows from a few drops of water that evaporates from an ocean, slowly turning into something majestic and endlessly powerful.
An utterly humble, unpretentious and no nonsense fellow of very unusual movements, Myung never fails to live up to his rep as the conductor most of the major orchestras on the planet would love to hire. His "Pictures" and Mahler 4th with the Paris Radio Orchestra are unparalleled. Let's hope Mr. Kim can find more videos of this guy.
I listened to dozens and dozens interpretation of this. And, in my humble opinion, this right here is by far the best. The difference between this and dozens other is, in this interpretation they're not just playing a note.... They put theirs soul into each note. You can feel it. This is so moving, it make you want to 😭😭😭 .
Outstanding, amazing..words can't describe this orchestra. My goosebumps and tears do the best I can do. It is my all time favorite rendition, and I never get tired of watching and listening to it. Fabulous musicians all of them. Ravel would be so proud.
Watching Myung-Whun Chung conduct this piece is exciting. This piece was wonderful, but the last part of Mahler's Symphony No. 3 filled me with emotion.
I still keep coming back here to listen to this incredible version of one of the greatest musical pieces of all time, and I bet Maurice Ravel would be proud of these wonderful musicians and conductor !
I love how emotional the entire orchestra is. Like very emotionally involved especially the entire string section they brought it to life from their melody all the way to the end! I would recommend the Leonard Bernstein performance of Bolero he always does a wonderful job of holding certain sections back so that others can be heard. He used the woodwinds extremely well better than I’ve heard in other recordings.
If I were young enough I would go to Japan just to see their performance in person and I love the way the lady behind the conductor is so into it! The perfection is so over the top and I just can't stop listening to them.
Counting this video, I've now watched a dozen renditions of this masterpiece, some are better than others, however your's is the finest in all aspects, nice work 😊❤
I got to say: Bolero already is a very unique piece of music, but this fine orchestra brings it to a new higher level. No „bling bling“ but every tone of this piece is so wonderfully interpreted, this quality is not found very often. I‘m very grateful that this magic moment is available on this platform. Chapeau.
yeah, the difference is real exist indeed! so tender n beautiful version of bolero it is. proud work! but one thing i need more is the power n energy beat from the heart.
I am actually a rocker, actually a punk, but I still have an enormous respect for classical music, because it has something that modern rock music lacks, namely melody. And when something like that is presented in such an unbelievably beautiful way, even a punk gets soft.
Thank you so much for uploading this! I've listened to many different orchestrations of "Bolero" and this is probably one of the best (in my humble opinion). Good pacing. I'm especially impressed with the Conductor - very little 'conducting' on his part; just lets the musicians play; I'm guessing he and the orchestra are in such tune w/each other as to how this should be played that there's little need for it. Very, very impressive rendition!! Thank you again.
GLORIOUS! At 13:33, as the band was reaching crescendo and my eyes were brimming with tears...queue the cymbals-like, clashing of advertizement!...[blasting, billowing, bursting forth with the power of ten billion 4Q reasons, man, with his boundless greed]...to proudly announce...FOK Bolero, FOK continuity, Fok the listener and FOK the horse that was ridden in, we got the ad (intrusion) for you...sigh...capitalism at its finest. HEY!, all's well. I made a dollar today and I only had to abuse a few nice folks to get it. XD
Walter - Brasil
In 1940s a Korean in Tokyo said to himself , Bolero sounds wherever I go and my sexual nerve becomes strange,. And this music seem to make somebody excited sexually .

Karajan is the best!!!
An excellent description of this little master work, Mr. Ikanovic
Karajan is the best !!!
My favorite conductor by far!
Karajan is the best!!!

I never get tired of watching this wonderful video. And the best time is when the conductor goes into a trance. Beautiful, splendid, wonderful.
So do I. I go in a trance, too!
Also, watch the string instrumentalist to his right. She's moving in time through the entire piece.
For sheer minimalism in conducting: this piece, 2014 BBC Proms, Daniel Barenboim.
He did? when?
I listened to dozens and dozens interpretation of this. And, in my humble opinion, this right here is by far the best.

Bolero is good no matter when you listen to it.
Especially the snare drum is cool ~.

Chung really made the Tokyo phil raised to a different level!!!
Well spoken, really, these guys are on a higher level than any of their western colleagues!
The beginning of the piece in the performance of this orchestra and conductor is the most beautiful - the soul of this piece awakens.
Watching Myung-Whun Chung conduct this piece is exciting. This piece was wonderful, but the last part of Mahler's Symphony No. 3 filled me with emotion.
Bolero!

No one overplaying, but every instrument can be heard as clear as day. Give the engineer a raise.

Korean conductor, the movement is relaxed, beautiful, accurate and intoxicating.
Superb version! Maurice would be very proud of this rendition 🇬🇧
Oh! how wonderful Ravel Bolero it is! I would feel Maestro Chung let them play at the discretion of themselves.

Best version I've ever heard! Well done!!
You’re right. That was fabulous!!!
Best version Celibidache MPO not this. Watch and listen.
@@andapomponiu1089 Which version of Celibidache? What year? There are several different ones on TH-cam and online.
Myung-Whun Chung, maestro sensacional; gestos justos e completo domínio da orquestra.
Si, maestro sensacional, this is the right expression!
The conductor is a very unique person.
Music is such a universal language. This piece of music has always been so hypnotic to me ❤️

This masterpiece speaks to the soul, and promotes spilitualuplift and awakening, and activates the spilite
Pavane For A Dead Princess is also one of Ravel's best pieces. Ir was popularized
as The Lamp Is Low.
what a powerful musc. congrats Tokyo
This is the best video of this piece
Sinuous. The orchestra gradually and exotically awakens.
Seung Han

Chung as a way the the Tokyo Philarmonic......what he does can not be described, seen nor measured, just heard.
Love this orchestra! Do they ever travel to the US?
So cool~ shalom

Il più grande
Those note cuts 🥳 and in same no cut for background noise from mic makes whole.
Forgot to write about discipline in drum tick 💃🕺
COME TO FRANKFURT!!!
In 1940s a Korean in Tokyo said to himself
, Bolero sounds wherever I go and my sexual nerve becomes strange,.
And this music seem to make somebody excited sexually .
SIN PAZ NI LIBERTAD NO HAY SALUD NI FELI CIDAD
Great perfornance
Espetacular...
