Thank you for pointing out that sanding off the protective finish, and exposing the bare wood, can cause tannin bleed. Great tutorial and I can't wait to try this paint!
I just got my MalangeOne paint and came back again to learn how to use my spray painter. My first time for both! I have to prime the pieces due to so much repair, but Im not devastated about it. I want to get a beautiful finished product!
Just got my first shipment of Melange paints, and after watching your well done, informative video, I cannot WAIT to give my first piece a try with this paint - THANKS!
I can't seem to leave a public comment I don't know why so I'm leaving it under someone else's?? You said the color was restoration bronze It looks like it's a dark green is that correct?? That is my biggest question is restoration bronze a green? Other than that it looks lovely I've heard about this paint before and I am watching a couple more videos with somebody using this paint and I am so intrigued. You did a great job 👍❣️❣️
Wow! That was really beautiful the finish was great. Thanks for the video & I am now off to place an order for that paint because it looks that good!! 😀 Thanks!
That looks incredible, I'm choosing between a project I'm doing and thinking of going with Melange One in Spice of life or fusion mineral paint in Highlander ......thanks for the help in deciding!
Hi Kimberly! This is beautiful! You are always soooo helpful and I love this review!! I just used the Melange ONE in Jett Black and it sprayed fabulously! I did go ahead and top coat, as black shows fingerprints. Black is so hard. LOL However, I also LOVE the way this paint is so smooth, covers awesomely, and levels so well! I am in love with this paint. You are the bomb and I love watching and learning from you every day!! :) Take care and hope you have a great rest of your Sunday!
I just used your discount code to purchase some Melange. I’ve not ever used any of their paint before. I ordered some of the One Paint and some of their regular mineral paint. Faint wait to try it.
Love it! Just getting ready to paint my coffee table with Fusion coal black and saw this video. So glad you did this video. Now thingjng of using this on my table and chairs which are white and maple now. Is this paint color a brownish gray or a greenish color? How did you do top on nightstand? Thank you.
Hi thank you for this video. I have melange one paint in white. I did sand thru several areas on the veneer. Do u think I need to prime this areas first?
It's $27.99 a pint, but that is pretty competitive - Fusion is $25.00 a pint - you have to remember its a primer and topcoat too - so you don't have to put out more money on products as well!
I am just now looking at this video and I just painted a desk with this paint and used OAK MOSS which is very similar to your color. I started with sanding old varnish off desk and then painted one side--looked terrible and next day, all black edges and stenciled designs from desk still showing through. SO--I primed the desk. Waited 24 hours and put this paint on again--it's now very YELLOWish in color--not at all like initial dark green. I liked the color, but it did NOT cover well at all and could see every streak and brush stroke and more I went over it, the more paint came off. I tried the round stencil brush, an angled brush, a roller and finally got out one of my craft paint brush--very tiny to do the front. It still looked terrible. Today, I decided to put a brown glaze over the paint. I just used this glaze over gold and loved the results, but today, it is too dark and I can see every brush stroke. Part of the glazing was my fault as I did too much at one time before wiping off, but basically this desk now has 4 coats of paint and a glaze and it looks like crap!!! I must've done something wrong, but now I don't know how to fix!!!!!
I’m not sure why the coverage was not very good for you, i have used Melange one many times and never had an issue with coverage. As far as the yellowing that is strange if you used a stain blocking primer, if there are strong tannins in the wood causing the yellowing , it may need several coats of primer or shellac. You may want to contact melange in regards to the coverage and color change. The only thing you could do to eliminate the issue - would be sand all down and start over unfortunately - there are not a lot of options and continuing to add will not give you the result I think you desire.
I painted all my cabinets back some time ago with annie sloan (I wouldn't use that today). i then did some with General Finishes (love that) they are holding up great. I would recommend GF, Fusion, Wise owl one hour enamel and Country Chic. All good products.
Oh I can't wait to try this paint. I just tried their original paint in Sonnet this week and I love it. There is one color that I also got, Violet Vixen, I love it in the jar and stare at it every day but I haven't found a piece that calls for it - it is a very strong and in your face color but there is just something about it I am crazy about. Do you ever fall for a color and then it sits on the shelf for a long time? Thank you again Kimberly for another great video!
I mention the products in the show notes - but I have another video on here showing how I get the top look - creating a white wash finish! 😀 - thank you for watching!
Looks great! 2 questions. Does this color have any metallic look? The bronze name confused me 🤔. And would you say that the sheen/finish is more of a satin or flat, maybe compared to fusion or silk? Thanks for your great videos! 🥰
Thank you! No metallic, its just the name. It's a olive green with a bronze color undertone. It is in between actually a matte and sating. Colors will differ whites its harder to see that sheen as you do with the darker colors, thats with any paint line. Definitely not matte like Fusion, more like silk!
Beautiful job! Love the color. I’ve been waiting to see someone using this paint and color. I saw it on the Melange website and it just stuck out to me. Thank you for your review and showing both applications. I can’t believe how perfect it was with the brush! How much of the paint did you use to finish those pieces?
@@verenaanderson2729 spraying itself doesn’t actually waste a lot of paint, I primarily spray and that’s common thing most people say, but there really isn’t a lot of waste. The most I have is what is left behind in the sprayer can/lid - but I always scrape every last bit out. 😀 I have shown in several videos - I forgot on this one to show the amount of paint I had left after.
@@BorninaBarnBoutique Another great video! However, I've watched your whitewash video and few times and this top looks different. Also no I didn’t do anything different, everything the same down to the topcoat
It is durable, primer, paint and topcoat in one. When painting wood I find it very durable. If you were painting laminate or formica I would use an additional gripper/primer

Well I haven’t done on a full bare wood piece, just the one in the video where I sanded some spots to,bare wood and it covered beautifully. When trying anything new, I always try on a sample piece before starting on my project.
Love it Beautiful! I am going to give the color wash with Algonquin and Cahsmier a try. What is your opinion on this wash on top of raw wood with some undertones?
I love it and use this combo often, just note if you are doing over cherry or mahogany - those can bleed so after sanding to bare wood, you may want to shellac first to avoid it turning the wash pink.
Great tutorial, thank you. Melange paint One is the best. Great coverage, great self leveling, lively sheen
