For me its no problem, but i play it since i was a little child. After 16 years u can rek everything easily in the original. I hope the reignited trilogy for ps4 will be awesome like the original series.
By far I think this was the hardest level in the entire game. It was very easy to get lost in. As a kid, I kept finding myself going in circles trying to get to the platform where the "home" portal was because I gave up on trying to get to the platform that had the infamous "hard to reach" dragon.
Spyro was released in September of 1998, while Sonic Adventure was released in December 1998-January 1999. Spyro ironically still beat Sonic to the punch for speed/momentum-based 3D platforming by a couple of months.
tyrantking9000 As a kid on first play through maybe, it's easy if you know how to control supercharge. I love Supercharge probably why I love this level I guess :P
Not necessarily that it was hard (though it didn't help) but it was easy to get lost in this level. It felt like a scavenger hunt for me figuring out which path would take me where I wanted to go, but damn was it satisfying once I figure out how to 100% this level
Unlike most other people, I loved this level as a kid because of how big it was. You literally had all the freedom in the world, jumping from platform to platform. The thieves were hard to catch and presented a fun twist. Such a great feeling; good thing my PS2 is backwards-compatible! (and so is the PS4 if I'm not mistaken)
Has anybody noticed that this is a much faster version of the song in High Caves? I still remember the day I noticed. It hit me like the feet of the enemies from this level. xD
+Angel Negron Velazquez Faster yes but it's not directly high caves sped up. Different guitars used plus the background noises differ greatly from high caves. Also the bassline is different
That confounded spot! LOL I couldn't beat the game for, like 2 years because of that one megajump. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that trouble with that part! xD
The first time you play this level it's a nightmare to 100% , but once you know how to get to the different platforms it's so satisfying to pull off in one go.
this level was so frustrating that it makes me mad just thinking about it but this is such a BOP that I cant help but love it... i mean those DRUMS and the BASS plus that melody right at 0:56 like... idk smth about this whole song makes me wanna jam
@BadPhenotypes Though having said that this is likely to be the first (and maybe only) point in the game where you could lose a lot of lives, so actually you're likely to have built up quite a few lives by this point and therefore have very little to worry about ;)
One of the two spots where i got stuck in the original Spyro game and had to buy the Strategy Guide for it, just to learn that you're supposed to go *UP* the second to last ramp you need to supercharge-jump to, then supercharge-jump over to that small side ramp that gives you the extra height and distance to reach that last dragon. The other spot I got stuck, fittingly enough, was that trollish supercharge-jump path in Haunted Towers.
i remember when i was a kid, about 5-7, i had this game and this level pissed me off. not because it was bad (which it wasnt) but i just couldnt make those god dam jumps. lol - spyro is a legend
My quasi-blind playthrough of this game had a fun time with this level. All i could remember was that you could charge up the ramps. Had an easy time over all.
I absolutely fucking love Spyro 1 behind Crash 2 on the PS1 it was always my favourite platformer on the console, not a fan of 2 or 3 (great games not a fan personally) though unfortunately :/ Love Ratchet and Clank though which i feel are the true successors to Spyro after the PS1 era :)
+grewbis No sorry i meant the Spyro games, I love the PS1 Crash games with 2 being my absolute favourite :') I only really liked Spyro 1 out of the 3 PS1 games
Kie Sears SPYRO to me always was the best out of all of them! 😎😎😎 I only liked Crash Bash to be honest.. Spyro for life! 😍😍😍 To me it's always Crash behind Spyro! 😎😂
@Aquiosis i was like that for several weeks and then one day i decided to set up the old playstation and go through them again :) It was like rediscovering my childhood
+Iron Tager , absolutely not. I played Spyro when I was 8, and when I got to this level and saw the monsters, I shut the game off, scared, and didn't pick it up again until I was almost 10 (at which point I was like, "Why was I so scared!?")
omg i love this level soooo much!!!!!! i love using those turbo tracks that makes you go faster. I run on it over and over till i gotten red and really, i gotten up to red =). LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH!!!!!!!
Oh my god, trying to get to that island which is miles away from anywhere else whilst using a speedway ramp facing the wrong direction! AAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHH!!!! Hardest bit in the whole game.
I only reached that dragon when I decided to tail that green thief from the start of the level all the way to the island. The supercharge path is just not something that a person can figure out on their own (without experimenting and losing tons of lives).
this level was the best level of any spyro game in existence really... they taunted you with a crystal dragon and a crap load of gyms on one island with seemingly no way to get there but the ramps are all one huge track to get there... imo the greatest hidden "puzzle" in any game ive ever played... in fact it beats zelda's puzzles and thats saying a lot. its too bad the series never stayed long enough for people to realize how awesome it was... REVIVE THE ORIGINAL GAMES &(#$@ IT!!
That was quite a ride, Spyro! You've learned a lot since you were a young glider. Well, you could've found an easier spot to get stuck in.. -_- S H R U G S
Getting to that dragon was the real final boss.
😂😂😂
cant tell which one was more annoying this one or the one with the almost indestructible knights
Jamie Ryan Storey you mean Jed? *shudder shudder*
Facts.
The best part is the game was aware of this too
"That was quite a ride Spyro, You've learned a lot since you were a young glider."
"Well, you could have found an easier spot to get stuck"
[shrug]
The shrug gets me everytime
Spyro was speaking facts......like dude c’mon....
I think the devs knew what they were doing when they added that in.
all I see is spyro falling into that damned green mist
I bet you in that mist you'll find thousands of Spyro ghosts soaring around, crying and raging from constantly failing the jumps.
Endless falling.... Dang
a point of rage for me every friggen time!
1:24 My favorite part
Speed up version of High Cave's banjo solo.
This level was the biggest troll in the whole game.
Despite that, I loved the level for the biggest challenges available. :D
I would say Misty Bog but this level ranked second in my book.
Toasty was harder than misty bog lol
Theres no sheep there.
Well except that one....
thiz Waz My Top 3 favorite Worlds
Out of the original trilogy:
Spyro 1: Best music.
Spyro 2: Best story.
Spyro 3: Best gameplay.
Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.
Spyro 1: best music, best gameplay
Spyro 3: variety through characters & minigames, interesting bossfights
Spyro 2: prototype of Spyro 3
All had their great charm but to me, the first is my favorite even after I played it many times on the ps1
0:40 - 0:57 I love those warm synths that sound like woodwinds. They really add an ethereal, warm, and nostalgic atmosphere to the level.
perfect sounds for flying 😎
Believe it or not, I did try to go through the game with no deaths. When I got to this level, that attempt failed.
FOOOOOOOOL
JubJub444 or pause & exit out of the level and reenter,
I died in the level because the whirlwind wouldn't take me -_-'
For me its no problem, but i play it since i was a little child. After 16 years u can rek everything easily in the original. I hope the reignited trilogy for ps4 will be awesome like the original series.
lol
“For an amazing tour of Tree Tops, don’t just stop at one Supercharge!”
I love the tree tops level strangely. It is a great difficulty spike.
It is 😁
Same
The notorious tree tops. Probably the most difficult level in the game.
By far I think this was the hardest level in the entire game. It was very easy to get lost in. As a kid, I kept finding myself going in circles trying to get to the platform where the "home" portal was because I gave up on trying to get to the platform that had the infamous "hard to reach" dragon.
Haunted tower with it's dragon in the tower was harder for me as a child to complete
That was quite a ride, Spyro! You've learned a lot since you were a young glider.
Yeah, well, you could've found an easier spot to get stuck...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
PRETTY MUCH HIS REACTION!!! hahaha.. such an old comment of mine.
I tried to reach that dragon after 16 years, and took me tons of lifes. I agreed with Spyro XD
@@ashyneko I'm surprised you replied lol
@@MJL1912 yep it was so long ago but i'm still here hahah
People, you should be kinder to this level.
It was hard, yes.
It also was the first 3D Sonic level, one year before Sonic Adventure even came out.
Alessandro Bozzi
😂 hahah damn
At least the level doesn't glitch out.
Spyro 1 and Sonic Adventure were released the same year.
Spyro was released in September of 1998, while Sonic Adventure was released in December 1998-January 1999.
Spyro ironically still beat Sonic to the punch for speed/momentum-based 3D platforming by a couple of months.
Sonic 3D Blast moment
You can hear the egg thieves's taunts in the background.
nope
yoink yes
Hehe yep. Sometimes I'd zoom right in on their faces when I got close enough. Terrifying
And that sassy shrug after you catch that one dragon. xD
One of the best levels in the game, not sure how people can hate it! Supercharge FTMFW
+Ashyneko mostly because people found it hard? I don't know exactly either.
tyrantking9000 As a kid on first play through maybe, it's easy if you know how to control supercharge. I love Supercharge probably why I love this level I guess :P
Same here
+Ashyneko same here.. tree tops imo is the hardest level in the game , but one of the best.. i love double and even triple supercharge !
Not necessarily that it was hard (though it didn't help) but it was easy to get lost in this level. It felt like a scavenger hunt for me figuring out which path would take me where I wanted to go, but damn was it satisfying once I figure out how to 100% this level
Just hearing this gives me PTSD
***** Supercharge? Excellent
Post Tree tops Stress Disorder
The little wish woosh sounds in the music always reminded me of the super charge sounds
i've always wondered what they are. like a washboard or something?
When I was younger and I got to Gnasty's Loot, I thought that was the sound of the propellors on the airplanes lol
Me too! I always wondered if that was intentional
This level was always a pain in the ass.
aren't most things u love the most pain in the ass's sometimes?
Absolutely
Even though it was hard I still enjoyed this place.
Spyro was dang right about that one dragon. WHY COULDN'T HE GET IN A BETTER SPOT!?
This song is High Caves on steroids... and I love every second of it!
AGREED!
But no fairies to save you :( still a bloody awesome level though, just finished replaying the first game.
it’s the other way around, high caves is just a slower version of tree tops, as high caves gets it’s own original theme in the PAL version of the game
High Caves is Treetops on... uh.... Sdiorets?
This makes the NTSC track for High Caves sound like the slow alternative version of this track.
Nah nah nah nah nah, heh heh heh!
+bboythekidstudios ommagash! :D XD
eggy alien spotted
Unlike most other people, I loved this level as a kid because of how big it was. You literally had all the freedom in the world, jumping from platform to platform. The thieves were hard to catch and presented a fun twist. Such a great feeling; good thing my PS2 is backwards-compatible! (and so is the PS4 if I'm not mistaken)
I completely agree with you, but this level was very difficult, so I hated it as a child, but now I love it.
Has anybody noticed that this is a much faster version of the song in High Caves? I still remember the day I noticed. It hit me like the feet of the enemies from this level. xD
+Angel Negron Velazquez
Faster yes but it's not directly high caves sped up. Different guitars used plus the background noises differ greatly from high caves. Also the bassline is different
High caves is actually the slower tree tops
I was going to say the more you know at the end of it
I noticed while I was at work humming them both in my head, and somehow forgot which was which, now here I am
As a kid this was our worst nightmare. But once we replayed it in a somewhat distance future it seemed much better. At least for me that is. =)
Analog sticks helped a bunch. Using a D pad to control spyro on those ramps and sharp corners was awful.
Nah tbh I felt the same way 😌
That confounded spot! LOL I couldn't beat the game for, like 2 years because of that one megajump. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that trouble with that part! xD
"Yeah, but you could've picked a better spot to get stuck"
🤷♂️
When High Caves takes a first sip of Red Bull
Hardest level in the game.
hardest spyro level in general
Maybe once of hardest level of Spyro of the dragon
Best level *
It is hardest level especially for beginners it make them dizzy
this brings back old memories
Love how it's a sped up version of High Caves.
One word PAL
By the grace of god I figured it out as a child
This and Doctor Shemp were my fav levels in this game
The track is a remix of High Caves
the part at beginning 0:00 until 0:20 sounds like spyro on the supercharges :D
Happy Tree Tops
Wow, this level. I remember going superfast after multi-colored thieves from tree-top to tree-top, it was a pain.
The first time you play this level it's a nightmare to 100% , but once you know how to get to the different platforms it's so satisfying to pull off in one go.
Really nice bass groove on this track.
@JonJazzBass I had to revisit the game at least 6-8 years later to finally 100% this level.
who tf is ready for reignited trilogy???
Me
Easily my favourite level. I loved to find out different supercharge routes and I was about 5 back then.
This damn level. that combo to get to the platform way too far away is so crazy i will nver forget that sht
@TheYeldark lol, those theives were helping you get across the ramps, I found them quite useful. Although, catching up to them, I totally agree
Damn, how I'd love to relive beating this when I was 9 years old...
@boemchak In PAL they replaced the High Caves music since it's just a slowed down version of this.
This level is super fun but I lose so many lives on it >.< Getting that last goddamned dragon is my biggest achievement to date.
aw man, that sweet feeling of accomplishment when you finally track down the green one... ^.^
The uploader's screen name is how we all felt while trying to get to that last island.
this level was so frustrating that it makes me mad just thinking about it but this is such a BOP that I cant help but love it... i mean those DRUMS and the BASS plus that melody right at 0:56 like... idk smth about this whole song makes me wanna jam
Man this game was the best. I don't I ever completed any of the Spyros except for one of them. They were hard and really long games after all.
Stewart Copeland is such a fucking musical genius
Took me years to get everything in this level, and when I finally did, I was congratulated by a smack in the face by a wart hog outside the portal.
i remember when i was a kid, about 5-7, i had this game and this level pissed me off. not because it was bad (which it wasnt) but i just couldnt make those god dam jumps.
lol - spyro is a legend
Yeah! Words couldn't describe how satisfying that was!
Cant wait for the new version!
Copeland: played the levels to match the song to mood
also Copeland: *anxiety*
My quasi-blind playthrough of this game had a fun time with this level. All i could remember was that you could charge up the ramps. Had an easy time over all.
I remember this goddamn level. Took me ages to get everything in it.
The best song and the best level of the whole game
Good god...this was the only level keeping me from getting a perfect ending.
It's hell trying to get every item in this place.
I hated this level, then I played it again after I knew what to do and I loved it...
+Kie Sears
no Crash Bandicoot Warped?! ahh i loved that game lol
+grewbis No sorry i meant the Spyro games, I love the PS1 Crash games with 2 being my absolute favourite :') I only really liked Spyro 1 out of the 3 PS1 games
Kie Sears
Gotcha! I agree.. The other two spyros were not bad but my love definitely sits with the original
Kie Sears SPYRO to me always was the best out of all of them! 😎😎😎
I only liked Crash Bash to be honest.. Spyro for life! 😍😍😍
To me it's always Crash behind Spyro! 😎😂
Take the leap of faith ppl!
TAKE IT
Whenever the music really starts up, I used to go down the supercharges. It just fit :3.
Neh neh nuh neh neh!
I love the music.
@Aquiosis i was like that for several weeks and then one day i decided to set up the old playstation and go through them again :) It was like rediscovering my childhood
@Michael Ricks they're exactly the same. Except this has little animal noises behind it.
My brother an I hated this level equally.
Even as a kid I loved this level.
High Caves was freaky when I was little...but Dark Passage still makes me jump.
This level was so amazing. One of the best in the game, I think. :)
Favorite level
Am I the only person who was freaked out by the enemies in this level?
Iron Tager Those big tall kicky dudes were a bitch.
+Iron Tager , absolutely not. I played Spyro when I was 8, and when I got to this level and saw the monsters, I shut the game off, scared, and didn't pick it up again until I was almost 10 (at which point I was like, "Why was I so scared!?")
I Was freaked out by this level in general.
I loved them!
Amazing Spoon your interpretation is decent tho. When i played this as a kid my mother laughed and said they hit me with their testicles 😑
my fav level ever
chasing those different coloured thieves was so cool
this is one of my fav levels that supercharg even if ir was diffivult was a ton of fun, this and wizar peak were a blast with the supercharge jumps,
Animators: How hard do you want this level to be?
Director: Yes
Fantastic tune, challenging level.
That red and black thief was DOPE!!!
This whole portal is just absolutely awesome! :D
this game was fucken epic. lol. wow... nostalgia.. this level was a real bastard for them thieves. lol. was fun super charging around it though.
Ah this level used to drive me nuts when I was a kid
omg i love this level soooo much!!!!!! i love using those turbo tracks that makes you go faster. I run on it over and over till i gotten red and really, i gotten up to red =). LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH!!!!!!!
This is the level that separated the novices from the masters.
@darkglyphknight lol AWESOME i sooo agree, the other games, ughhh, don't get me started on them...
Oh my god, trying to get to that island which is miles away from anywhere else whilst using a speedway ramp facing the wrong direction! AAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHH!!!!
Hardest bit in the whole game.
Tree Tops, Terrace Village,Metalhead,Haunted towers,Jacques,And Twlight Harbor Were the levels I Never Completed when I Was A Kid.
Good times. This was my favorite level.
I hope they make the soundtrack more close to the original for the reignited trilogy!
They did but they did do something Crash Remastered didn't do
let you play the original songs
An entire generation will suffer trying to 100% Tree Tops.
That was quite a ride, Spyro! You've learned a lot since you were a young glider.
Well, you could've found an easier spot to get stuck in.. -_-
S H R U G S
I wish I could re-live these days.
