- If you were wondering how to fish in Rust with the new fishing guide then you will find this video useful. I will be showing you how to earn the most scrap possible from fishing.
Also I will show you how to deal with sharks and what you get from harvesting them.

Update: If you bring at least 2 rods you can switch between them after catching the fish. In that way you don't need to watch the catching animation and you can save some time.

it's also easier to have 2 rods with fish meat, and a third one with small trout

saw you on tamura comments and now im loving your content as well, im surprised that you only got 15 subs doing this high quality and useful content, also what i think its a good idea is to make a fish trap base with arround 10 traps or so and all the troutch you get there use it as a bait xd i think its the best way to get lvl10 bait without wasting too much time

I think that they should add a unique drop to sharks to make researching and crafting a speargun more viable. Perhaps a new clothing type similar to wolf headress

isnt the unique drop for sharks? shark meat? if its nothing then yeah you're right its totally not worth it. 2 hits to die from sharks. takes 3 hits to kill with separ. do the math.

Not to mention that most people I have an irrational fear of sharks, which makes it incredibly uncomfortable for most people to be underwater at all. A lot of people are fine with it, but some people like myself can’t stand being underwater if there are sharks, if there was a high reward I would push myself through it but as of right now I would much rather do oil with my red card lmao

I live near a river and use the pumpkins in fish traps. Nice way to get some extra small trout and I get catfish salmon and small perch while fishing. Also got my hemp farm making money too.

Thanks. Good suggestion. I might do it either later this month or in September and include the adjustments from the new patch. Almost all of the other fish can be caught in the river (Also lake maybe) and I assume it should have pretty similar pattern as with the salt waters.
I am new to rust and this is how I'm surviving solo on rusty moose .. I hang out near fishing village and fish until I get a boat.. between fishing and looting the flotsam, it's amazing. Just stay away from the underwater lab if you're solo and new tho lol...

3:48 i used a small trout as bait in deep water and got a small trout
i use a different fishing method, when the fish goes left i do (a,s) then the fish is going right i do (s,d) and repeat, takes around 15 to reel in a big fish.
Small trout is the worst thing you can get. So if you keep refishing them you can transform them into sharks or salmon. I will check the technique. Thanks

Thanks. It is because I recorded it on my private server and had turned water visibility off. Normally it wouldn't be that clear for me either.

I like fishing at bandit camp. I catch tons of catfish. I play mostly on a server that has a "raid week" though. I am sure someone would probably just camp and wait for you to leave on a normal server.
Thats a pretty safe way but you can earn more if you do in the ocean. I assume you would be fine in a normal server if mix up the paths that you take back home.
@@idontwannadance4824 Yea, I was just thinking of a nice safe place to get good at practicing harder fish first. Try it out though, I swear at least on the server I tried you get more catfish than anywhere else and 2 catfish =50 scrap. I was stacking 12 stacks of five and then going to cash out over and over.

No, they don't

I can make 1k scrap per hour standing on the very far edge of the fishing village pier (next to boat exit). Much safer and doesn't require any purchase or storage of boats/subs/kayaks.
In addition to this, my vending machine sells wood/stone/frags for 10 scrap each. So 1k wood = 10k scrap. Who would buy this? Me! It's safer to drone your scrap back to base instead of carrying it. Not all servers have drones at fishing villages though.
Seems like you are playing blooprint servers with drones in the fishing village. Havent seen them anywhere else. The fishing on the edge of the pier part is quite interesting. Will check it out but it might be dependant on how deep the waters of a specific fishing village are

Tried to shoot shark died 3 time while I hit it 5 times. I asked people why won’t it die after 3-5 hits and they said its 8 shots now. Also you die on the second chomp from shark. Unless you swap for armor.

I wish you had gone over the river fishing. You can actually make a base with a missing foundation to fish in safety

you forgot to mention the most profitable method: fishing for the red fish in underwater labs and camping them at the same time
True but that method is more difficult and risky especially if you are solo because you can get countered. So I didnt include it in this video

Yes with 20% chance but it might be more worth it to sell the sharks and buy a blue card from outpost since the fish prices got buffed

Keep practicing and dont hold the buttons for too long. Keep taping and be patient until you get used to it. Also if you fish in a fishing base it makes it way easier because there are boundaries until what point the fish can go
A 15 min tunnels runs gives you the same scrap with only compound bow soo...
Its just a different way of farming. So now you have a possibility to mix things up and fishing is safer anyway
Yellow Card at the Fire Department takes 5 mins for the same thing. Not sure why people are fishing.

I dont think anyone cares about bone fragments. Plus they always had it. These are river fish and not really worth it

Fishing is NOT as easy it this makes it out to be because:
#1 Extremely difficult to hear the line straining when it's raining(often for TWO days straight)
#2 The fishing line is very weak and there are no options to buy up to stronger lines
#3 When fishing from a boat our feet are NOT stationary which will also lose a LOT of fish... >:(
This all can be improved if you build a fishing/boat base (I made a video about it as well). Then your line wont be able to go too far and you will always be stationary. Also keep in mind that fish prices got buffed by 25% since I made this vid which makes it even more profitable
