    Hi,
    I have one doubts.
    As you said output signal generated at VCO is a high frequency signal depend on amplitude of signal. But u also said that high frequency signals are eliminated in LPF block. Then, how high frequency signal are being generated at VCO output.

      Perhaps you are missing that VCO stands for "voltage controlled oscillator". It is an oscillator that changes it's output frequency based on input voltage, the input can be DC.

    Thanks for the video sir. I have few doubts. Please clarify me.
    1) will the output of phase detector be fin+/-f0 or proportional to it?
    2) can we say that pll is locked if vco frequency exactly becomes input frequency? If so, will two signals with same frequency have same phase too?
    3)can we operate vco with minimum frequency signal. Doesn't it strictly need DC voltage?
    4) what could probably be the values of lock range and capture range.? Can you please relate them?
    Hope you answer my doubts though they seems silly!

    In free running mode as u said that input signal is zero then how firstly it will start working as there is no feedback system when we operate it first time...??

      VCO is self-capable of generating some certain range of frequencies. So in the default condition, it will be generating some frequency (not zero) and as soon as your input arrives the VCO will adjust its frequency to make fin-fo = 0.

    So how is there a DC frequency generated after LPF? It's a phase difference that's passed through the LPF. I don't understand this part.

    still not clear why do we use VCO.. we can easily compare phase difference using phase detector and LPF

      The point is not to just measure the phase, but to generate a signal which is in phase with the input. Why you want to do that is a longer discussion, but it is important for demodulating signals, among other things.

    Conceptually, this is incorrect. A phase detector can never take frequency as input. You need to mention integrator system or how the frequency is being converted to phase.
