Hi, I'm Izzy and I'm here to watch Pam talk about video games. I've gotten so many good recommendations from you over the years. Never comment but just want to say thanks for the many hours of enjoyable gaming thanks to your reviews.
I love this channel too. She's straight to the point, doesn't have to scream, be sarcastic, make a zillion jump cuts/lame jokes, and doesn't try too hard. I have also gotten tons of recommendations from this channel! Hungrygoriya is another similar channel if you like the low key, unpretentious review style, but she reviews mostly NES games.
Great list, nice Video! You (and "I dream of Indie") become one of my favorit gaming channels over the past year. The fact that you play all sorts of games, not just (more and more uninspiring) AAAs, that you describe the games thoroughly and interesting but not spoilery and seems to be just like a nice person is very cosy and chill :). Good luck for 2025!
I always walk away from your "Best of" lists with at least one (usually multiple) game to check out and this year is no exception. Several of these look like they're right up my alley. Thanks as always for the great video.
Great pick for the top spot. The fact that it gives you its most innovative abilities early on (the time shift copy teleport thing), and holds back the double jump until later, is a mark of how refined and confident a game it is.
Confident is a great descriptor. The basic movement and air dash feel so good that I didn't miss the double jump before I had it, but it made me feel like I could fly after.
Great list and presentation as always. I feel like this year was particularly packed. It will probably take all of 2025 to make a dent in my 2024 backlog.
Finally, a 'best of' list with different games than all the other lists I've seen so far, which are always the same games (in different order), that's one reason why this channel rocks!
I've always been a fan of your best of the year lists since they are so diverse and provide insight into games that would normally fly under my radar. Lorelei and the laser eyes looks so good I'll have to grab it for my Steam Deck. I personally adored Indiana Jones and Silent Hill 2 this year. Astro Bot is also worthy of its high accolades as I never felt bored and was genuinely excited when playing it. Great video Pam 👍
I love seeing your best games lists as often our gaming choices overlap and I don't have much time to get to all the games I want, but seeing you gush over them is always wonderful and gets me to go back and play them. For instance, I've gotten Lorelai and the Laser Eyes to play with my partner as it's something that intrigues us both.
Omg Pam, congrats on 100k!! You're amazing and now youtube will have to officially recognize you as the best channel ever that talks about video games!
The list is very Pam-like and that is nothing but a good thing. I had almost all of the games I liked wishlisted already from your previous videos, but still a great reminder what came out this year.
Great list! So happy to see Home Saftey Hotline and Lorelei get some love. Not enough people talking about those ones, and Prince is very deserving of number one. Though one game I don't see anyone talking about is Drova. Pixel art top down action rpg that is inspired by the gothic games. It was really amazing and my favorite of the year by far.
I'll echo what many are saying: I love your lists. They always offer something new to check out that I probably never would have heard of otherwise. 😊I think this is the first year I can remember ever using my PlayStation more than my Xbox. So many great games came out there this year: FF7 Rebirth, Black Myth Wukong, Stellar Blade, Helldivers, and Astro Bot were all top tier gaming for me. On Xbox, The Lost Crown was definitely a highlight. Finally beating that insane Impossible Climb was probably my best gaming moment all year. Other than that, I played through Jedi: Survivor and finally beat Dark Souls. And then an awesome spooky October with Little Nightmares 2, Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 3 Remake, and Alan Wake 2's The Lake House DLC. I look forward to Avowed most of all, and GTA6 if the Rockstar gods can get it fully cooked this year.
Amazing list Pam!. Love the variety, and specially it's really good to see that 2024 it's a great Metroidvania year. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to play Prince of Persia or Nine Sols yet, but I really want to try both. My favourites of the year: Animal Well, Minishoot Adventures, Balatro, Pampas & Selene, Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom. Lot of fun games. Have a great start to the year! 😃
Hi Pam! Great video as always. :) I just finished Portal (I never played it until now). Looking forward to catching up on my gaming library and Metroid Prime 4 (if it comes out)!
That's quite a varied mix. I always had my eye on Cult Of The Lamb for well over a year now as there was a chance I wouldn't like it (it's not a 2024 release) and I picked it up on sale and I cannot put it down. These are the types of games I'm are looking for, polished, well thought out, that make you keep coming back and you want to complete. Thanks for the new reveal of these games, many of which I've never even heard of.
I'm playing through Tactical Breach Wizards right now after getting distracted from it when it first came out and I love this game. Not only are the puzzles super fun, but I absolutely love the story and the writing in this game. It's one of the funniest games I've played in a long time, and yet it can be so serious and is highly political for what is basically a joke game about wizards doing tactical ops. Highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of Into the Breach. great list btw.
Thanks! I loved the writing in Tactical Breach Wizards so much! I always looked forward to the short conversations before breaching and I love the anxiety dreams.
Great picks, I adored Lorelei and Prince of Persia too! Added a bunch to my Steam wishlist too. Question, have you heard of Thank Goodness You're Here? It feels like it would be right up your alley with some of your other picks!
@@Cannotbetamed1As an Englishman you may be banned from playing British games until you play Ghost Trick. It’s a Japanese game but…, not playing Ghost Trick is a crime.
Thanks for the prod to go back to Unicorn Overlord. I really enjoyed the start of that game but got distracted by other things. Really solid list. Very happy to see so many smaller (in budget if not in ambition) indie titles knocking it out of the park this year.
Great video Pam you always make my backlog grow with almost every video. Always putting in the work if anyone deserves that 100,000 subs its you. Never change your a amazing person.
Thank you Pam for a great list of games that will keep me busy this 2025, I hope you enjoyed your holiday season and congratulations in advance for reaching 100k subs
I havent played games in years but I love listening to people talk about their favs. Maybe one day when I have time again I will get to play some new soon to be classics
I absolutely LOVED Unicorn Overlord. It’s my game of the year with Astro Bot and persona 3 reload following behind it. Just picked up prince of persia today. Looking forward to it! I must admit I’m not a huge Metroidvania fan mainly because I hate not knowing where to go a after awhile but I hear this game is relatively streamlined and just so much fun to play
I hadn't heard about "Tactical Breach Wizards" since those early reviews from I don't even remember how long ago. I didn't know they had added more playable characters, Nice!
hadn't heard of symponia or vampire therapist, added to my way too long steam wishlist. game of the year for me, quite comfortably, was 1000xResist. i'll continue to bang the drum for this game forever. it certainly won't be a game for everyone, but it hit in a way that i was not ready for. my top 5: 1. 1000xResist 2. still wakes the deep 3. mouthwashing 4. balatro 5. crow country honourable mentions to the elden ring DLC, and the silent hill 2 remake.
Nice! I'm playing through Prince of Persia right now and it is amazing. Havent enjoyed a Metroidvania this much since Hollow Knight. The platforming challenges and ability incorporation are brilliantly designed.
If you're hankering for a Metroidvania after PoP, check out Strider (2014). I found it somewhat similar in gamefeel to The Lost Crown and Metroid Dread.
Given the size of my backlog, I'm not happy that you reminded me that I really wanted to play Unicorn Overlord. Gonna need to make some space for that one. Loved the video, as I always do.
Great list. I've hardly been into playing games any more, mostly sinking my time into Balatro. I really should play that Dragon Age game. Zelda Dungeons of Infinity was also a great rougelike you should play if you haven't. P.S. I love your bangs, Pam.
Really like your channel. Some games I have never heard before. You seem not to be influenced by the trendy shit storms that are stinking in all corners of YT. Regards!
As a stereotypical "patient gamer" it's quite rare for me to play games in the year they release, but I did play a few this year: Eiyuden Chronicle, Still Wakes the Deep, The First Descendant and Silent Hill 2. Unicorn Overlord would also be on this list if it had a PC version....
As usual, I haven't played much that actually came out this year (and the ones I did, I technically played in 2025), but I did enjoy With Shining Eyes, a very short abstract experience, and I'm pretty sure it came out this year. The only other thing (unless colorization hacks for those old Mega Man games for Game Boy count) was Next Level Adventure, and that was enjoyable, even if the joke did go on a bit longer thant it probably should've. As for 2025, I'm looking forward to (eventually) checking out Angeline Era, Broken Reality 2000, Clockwork Ambrosia, Dewdrop Dynasty, Elation for the Wonder Box 6000, Eternal Strands, and Skate Story. Of these, the only demo I've played is Clockwork Ambrosia (too excited for Angeline Era to do anything but go in blind), and I really enjoyed what was there.
I really like the concept of 'Lil Guardsman' but how many times could I REALLY enjoy it? (Let who I want in, Let everyone in, Let nobody in). If 'Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown' wanted to enter my 'country of physical games' I would let him in, and wouldn't be mad if he tried to run for Prime Minister, lol. It looks like 2025 will be the year you hit 100k, here's to another year of great games, Cheers!
"The next game does a great job of making me feel like I'm right inside one of my favorite movie trilogies" Hahahah I see what you did there. And you're absolutely right. Indiana Jones is and forever will be a trilogy as far as I'm concerned.
Prince of Persia TLC as GOTY, I have to agree, probably the best Metroidvania I have played since at least Ori 2 or maybe Hollow Knight, its THAT good. Ubisoft might be in financial trouble right now and that game didn't sell well which is a shame as it was my fave Ubisoft game maybe ever. Also honorable mention from me for more Atlus stuff Metaphor ReFantazio and SMT5 Vengenace (yeah its sort of a 2021 game, so thats sort of cheating). But Pam did play Unicorn Overlord and it made the list. Also happy to see Animal Well.
2024 was underwhelming IMO, i liked Contra operation galuga but was over it after i beat it. wanna play "The Thing" re-mastered at some point. in 2025 im looking forward to Killing Floor 3 and Doom Dark Ages. love your vids Pam!
Your mention of parrying in Prince of Persia has me wanting to revisit it. I bought the game and started playing it a while back, but I was immediately put off by the parrying. I'm just really bad at parrying; it's probably my least favorite game mechanic ever. There were points when I was really struggling with the combat in Indiana Jones, even with the combat difficulty lowered, but I did end up finishing that game. I think I'll give Prince of Persia another shot when I get back from vacation.
I like the parry in the game, but I'd say that you can get through 95% of it without parrying. There are some boss abilities that will be hard to survive without it though. One of the difficulty options is making the parry window longer.
I also dislike the parry mechanic thats prevalent in games these days. I did enjoy Prince of Persia, but I couldn't beat the last boss on the default difficulty settings and while I should have tweaked everything to easy, eventually I gave up and watched the ending on youtube... still enjoyed my time with the game overall.
Im glad people have their favorite games. Because I love video games too. But fitting that it's the number 1 game of 2024 might be the craziest thing I've ever heard in my life.
Prince of Persia was great. I enjoyed Animal Well, too, but it was a good idea to stop before the post game. Just kept stumbling around the same areas, finding one or two new secrets after devoting way too much time backtracking. Had to accept I had a good time in the main game and move on. I hope Tactical Wizards comes to consoles - sounds like my kind of game.
@cannotbetamed1 ... Indy Great Circle made me grin super hard (and I just finished my second playtbrough). Plus, the true Dolby Atmos sound is "god-tier" in my book. I'll check out Animal Well later this year.
Thank you for this video!! Thank you for putting Dragon Age on the list. I know it was getting a lot of backlash and hate from the day of release, yet I wasn't seeing where it was all coming from.I love the Dragon Age series myself and was looking forward to playing this and was interested in the art style Bioware went with on this game. A departure from the previous games, but unique to series as well. I received the game for Christmas for my PS5 but only started playing a few days ago and not very far in, but am enjoying it so far. I have not played ME 2 in such a long time, that I am not sure where the reference is coming from! I also loved Unicorn Overlord and all aspects of the game (own it on Switch)! I played the game by keeping friends/family in same unit instead of making a lot of perfect units, and that made some battles a bit challenging, but still fun! Prince is a great game as well, but i sadly have not gotten very far in it. I do love the story and visuals of the game and really need to start playing again!!
Best of Year lists should always come out in January!
I agree! I'm always so sad when December games get completely forgotten about because people want their lists out early.

@ Agreed! I was expecting a _good_ Metroidvania, but not an _innovative_ one, especially from Ubisoft, and I hope the game gets recognition for that.

There's an option in PoP to put on guided mode which will put objective markers on the map. It's very helpful if you don't like getting lost.
I am glad that a list would not show the usual games on it. Great list!

@@paulocerioni6375 awesome, hope you like them.
Nice. I bought Withering Rooms but haven't tried it yet.
Prince of Persia is fitting at number 1. Let's hope for 2025 Silksong takes that spot 🎉🎉🎉
It'll come out... one day.
Im glad people have their favorite games. Because I love video games too. But fitting that it's the number 1 game of 2024 might be the craziest thing I've ever heard in my life.
Great vid
Some interesting indie games on the list❤
I haven't played a lot of games last year that came out in 2024 but my top3 are Hades II / Indika / Tactical Breach Wizards
I do love the story and visuals of the game and really need to start playing again!!
well my Wishlist just doubled in size.
99,9 k subs. Close!
Unicorn Overlord looks like Ogre Battle 64 for N64, which was an amazing game. Hoping it is very similar. Thanks.
That Animal Well game looks fun, want to try
Sorry for being off-topic but I love your shirt!
Thanks! I got it for Christmas
Great list, thank you. I loved black myth wukong this year, but I did not play a lot of games, so my opinion doesnt count :-)
