Kilalang-kilala po natin na ang inyong mga pagsisikap ang nagbibigay ng pagkain sa hapag-kainan ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remarked as he led the distribution of various assistance to farmers, fisherfolk and families affected by the El Niño crisis during a program at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
In his message, the President expressed sympathy to those severely affected by the phenomenon, with almost 4,000 farmers in the Region losing around PhP367 million in their livelihood.
In preparation for the impending typhoons, he reiterated that the national government has already set aside PhP5 million in standby funds, as well as over 200,000 family food packs and approximately PhP23 million worth of non-food items, to provide relief and address other concerns in Region III (Central Luzon).
Apart from providing assistance, the Chief Executive underscored the Administration’s commitment to develop Central Luzon into a more progressive Region. He emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to build infrastructure projects that will connect Central Luzon to Northern Luzon and the National Capital Region (NCR), aiming to expedite the delivery of products and improve market conditions in the country.
Furthermore, he reiterated that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has established a task force to address illegal activities related to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) in the Region while the Bureau of Customs (BOC) is cooperating with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to prevent the entry of illegal drugs into the country and combat drug trafficking.
