Good engines, the main problem is that they don't have level sensor on the expansion vessel, so you'll need to watch out, if you run out of water. Beside that, pretty reliable engines. If you buy the 55kw Isuzu engine, another common problem is the injection ecu.
La mia 0pel Astra 2002 sw,anno 2002 1.7 55 kw.quando cammina si spegne e spunta la spia dell'auto con la chiave inglese.e quando cammina sembra che il disel arriva a tratti,vorrei sapere quale guasto può essere.

nu se alimenteaza valva la turbina asa se intampla cand caraie turbina tija de la supapa nu sta inchisa cand turbina face presiune iar pe la 2000 de ture cand trebuei sa bage presiune se depresurizeaza de aceea si caraie ! Cand vacumul nu trece de electrovalva turbina sta cuplata !

Any specific reason the car was being dismantled? I am planing to buy an early 2000 1.7dti with more than 250,000 km any suggestions?

You'll need to go to a mechanic, there could be some minor or major problems.
