I watch this multiple times every single day because it helps motivate me though each day. I can quote the entire poem by heart now. These lines make me cry each time I watch it. "When I was sixteen, when everyone around me seemed raised fists ready to smack me to the ground, my mother said sometimes we clench our fists, not to fight, but because we have something we are terrified to let go of." "You will see that you were just fooling yourself into thinking you are above gravity." "It's a pinata at a birthday party. It's knowing they have been beaten so many times, it's no wonder they split open." "When you are twenty years old, you will learn that sometimes you fight with absolutely everything you have and lose." "...When you learned about the two distinctly different types of pain: One that is necessary and leads to healing and one that is only pointless suffering." "You will find out that sometimes you don't get to write the pretty ending." "That not everyone gets that simple crash closing curtain."
I saw this clip when it came out and somehow it has stayed in the back of my mind all these years. Today it reemerged and it took me a good 10 min to find it.
All our eluded fears that are once curtained by petty yet misleading assurances are brought to our consciousness now. Now we fear that everything just ends in silence.
+Bonnie Alexis I think not understanding us the point of poetry. Poetry isn't about what they are saying, it's about the emotion it gives you. So watch it again, and think about what you feel. Watch it again, and don't wonder what they meant, wonder what it means to you. Poetry can't be explained, only felt.
not sure if you still want an explanation or how in depth of an explanation you want, but it's one of my favorite poems so here we go. it's essentially about the experience of watching someone else die and the hopelessness you feel. you'd do anything you can to save them but sometimes you just fucking can't.
i wish the poem was as good as their acting. they tried so hard to put life in a dead words. it felt fake and forced...shouting out the words wont make your poem any better just write better
The way that button poetry reduces me to tears

Time

Absolutely brilliant. And, yes, it all often "ends in silence."
I am shivering.
I will go to bed tonight thinking of this. Grim, pervasive thoughts, beautifully portrayed.

All our eluded fears that are once curtained by petty yet misleading assurances are brought to our consciousness now.

Coping with disillusionment as you get older, particularly regarding the expectation versus reality of death.
Thanks for clarifying:)
