The guide covers the basic setup of a clothing store business, how to use and dress mannequins, how customers interact with and buy clothes, as well as ways to maximise profits, which mainly comes in the form of also selling artworks because we're a bit limited. It also looks at helpful business perk rewards and choosing a mark up, and highlights many ways in which you can add various activities to your store to make it a well-rounded lot that other sims can visit and have a day out at.

I’ve been a simmer since 2005 and thought I knew everything I needed to know about TS4, but I was wrong! 😆 I never knew I could make up to 5 outfits on one mannequin 🤦🏽♀️😆. I would keep entering CAS for each one I had! This is a huge game changer for me!!!! Thank you!
Not even just 5, but 5 in every category! It's one sim's entire wardrobe per store for each gender and age designation. There is a limit of I think 10 mannequins on the lot and of course only one outfit can display on a mannequin at a time.
@@rawmilk905 Thats crazy! so in total you can pretty much have 100+ premade outfits ready for those mannequins at anytime?
@@NerdsPsychoticInterlude Yes. I believe so. The catch is that the outfits stay in the category (everyday, formal, hot weather, etc.) they were created in unless a mod that can copy them to other categories is used (like MCCC.)
Hey, You actually can have male mannequins wear female clothing and vice versa. You can go into settings while making the new outfits in cas and change clothing preference to your gender of choice!

YES YES YES I NEED THIS! Imo, female Sims absolutely rock the masculine clothes, while males are just meh
If you have the Live in Business mod, you can have an apartment over the store. I've built a few for teh gallery, little loft apartments over a cafe or store. So much fun.
I won't play a retail lot without an office (many supplies are only quickly available via computer,) sleeping accommodations of some kind (could be just a small cot somewhere or a tent kept in inventory,) and some sort of kitchenette (break rooms fit in nicely to commercial builds, but if you are short on space an outdoor grill and picnic table will work.) It will save you sitting through many load screens if you don't have to go home each night to manage needs.

It might be because I have CC in my game, but most people that enter my store will be labelled as loiterer or socialiser but might buy stuff sometimes, and others will just walk out of the store randomly just as their blue bar is getting full and it makes it really hard to sell anything, I wish they would make this system and dine out less buggy because they have a lot of potential

You can, using children's mannequins but from memory only children can buy children's clothes so it helps to not solely sell children's clothes or else adults can't buy anything lol
Is restocking for mannequins free for you? Mine is free and I haven't seen anyone talk about it yet. I'm pretty sure it's not the problem on my end because I've tested it in a brand new game.
How can I add a platform? It won’t let me use any pedestals
From memory they're in the same build section as where you add walls 😊

Sorry if I wasn't clear, so it's different to foundation. When you go into walls, you see the different types of walls you can add. And left to right it goes -- wall tool -- room tool -- custom room tool -- platform tool. This platform tool is what you want to make platforms :).

Is there a mod that alters townies wearing the outfit and becoming part of their wardrobe? I find that interferes with storytelling when townies don't dress like themselves.

@@PeteyPlaysIt no the platforms you have to build them in build mode. Sucks they couldn't make them actual objects
What pack do you use
Other gameplay ideas are to...
➡Have a stylist base themselves at the store and makeover sims when playing as them. You could even add the wardrobe podium from the GF studio in a fitting room area.
➡Add the ThrifTea clothes racks so sims will autonomously browse racks of clothes (also adds the thrifting gameplay to the lot).
➡Use the Moschino modelling items for a fashion house feel (have your fashion photographer work at the store). Use the photos of outfits as store signage (resize them 1-2x larger so they are poster size).
➡Use DHD modular wardrobe pieces/clothes/shoe clutter/shoe boxes for additional décor and/or sellable clutter.
How do you store and your home and run it from your house? Sorry I don't know how to word it.

I'm not sure off the top of my head, but I think they would be like any other outfit so my guess is yes!
I do this but I find sometimes it can be glitchy and have the out of stock sign over the clothes when really it's in stock, and sometimes it says there is nothing for sale when there is, but that could just be my game

Yes you can make any lot a retail lot :) It doesn't have to be in magnolia promenade

What do you do if one of your sims walks in? Most of the time they already have pretty decent outfits if I do say so myself and I don’t want to replace them with what I’m giving townies.
Usually I just sell them stuff and then the next time I play them I can delete the outfit. Sometimes I like picking out cool clothes so I get excited when one of my sims buys them. You can also just ignore your sims who visit the store so they don't end up buying anything
There's no way to actually model unique outfits and import the mesh into the game?
There’s probably tutorials for making custom content out there- I think the only way you can import your own clothing models and meshes is as cc

technically, they can if you (while creating male mannequin outfits) remove the 'male category' filter in cas and simply use the female clothes on male mannequins
