You must watch the live performance of this song from his Almaty Concert 2022 from his channel. In fact, whole concert is phenomenal. Full concert is in Dimash channel ( in 3 parts with subtitles)

Absolutely beautiful reaction 😢. Dimash penetrates the hardest of hearts and the most broken hearts and gives us hope and positivity, uniting us with music, breaking boundaries, and reminds us that we all live under One Sky. Thank you Alex, the live performance from the Almaty Concert is absolutely phenomenal, even more emotional than the music video, which is hard to imagine. We’re Choosing Life❤.

Dimash worked on this for 3 years. He wrote the screenplay, composed the music, sang and acted. This was nominated for an award at a European Film Festival last spring and he was recognized by the Pope for this production. He has always been able to share his emotions through his music. Now we can see him share the raw emotions through acting. He is one of a kind.

You’re SO RIGHT! Dimash is very deep, very mature. Very committed to world peace. In his short young life (he’s 29), he devoted THREE YEARS to conceiving The Story of One Sky; writing the screenplay; writing the music; singing and acting in it. THAT is how important peace is to him!

Just in case anyone missed any references in the video, This is by far the best explanation I have found. It was written by Heiderose Kober:
This is subtitled "Requiem” but it is also a vision and a call to action. Dimash is steeped in sacred music and has a deep understanding of the mystic teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as Kazakh shamanism.
It is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14, 2022, at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Kazakhstan. The written statement at the end of the video is directly from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke with both men at the September meeting.
Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. I only touch on some of what struck me in the symbolism. The music is a dissertation all by itself.
The pendant is an interesting element. It is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. This triangular blade is attached to the sundial, casting a shadow on the sundial while the perforated pinhole projects the image of the sun onto the dial. It was used for both timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to True North. (Thank you, Snarky Tart for that information).
In the MV, (the taller child) who later becomes the military commander, never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, (the drowning boy), gives his friend the pendant. The camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl (later Dimash's Wife and the mother of his daughter who is killed). Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral compass.
Later, we see a version of the gnomon as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through rendering it useless as a compass. When we lose the original intent of a symbol by twisting it into something it is not or by just paying lip service, it no longer has any spiritual meaning. At best it becomes a useless prop, at worst it is used to mislead and manipulate people. Contemporary music is also present: With the phrase "We have passed the moment of Imagine," Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song "Imagine" by John Lennon.
It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must act and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light. It is the only way.
The storyline is a very human one: we start as innocents until our hearts are broken, we fail, or our dreams are not realized. If in our pain and disappointment, we turn to anger and blame instead of acceptance, power instead of love, greed and envy instead of generosity, hatred instead of forgiveness, and revenge instead of justice, we sow the seeds for conflicts that can turn into war.
The Piper's call is seductive as it promises redress for our grievances, control over our circumstances, and power over those who thwarted us, and this appeals to our wounded ego. However, let's remember that the Piper is a symbolic figure of Death from the Middle Ages, often used as a metaphor for trusting and following charismatic but dangerous and malevolent leaders to certain death. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence.
That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start the war, who do not support the war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love. How can we rid the world of evil without becoming what we fight against?
The burning sign "Waldenberg" is a reference to the end of WWII when the US Army destroyed the last of the resistance by the German Wehrmacht close to the end of the war in April 1945 in the part of Germany where I grew up. I have seen the aftermath of war as I was born a few years later when much of Germany was still in rubble. Waldenburg is only 28 miles from my hometown and was completely destroyed as you can see from the picture. Many of the dead in those bombed-out buildings were women and children. The good guys defeated evil but at what price?
War is not the answer. We must find better ways to keep evil in check. iowaculture.gov/.../american-troops-move-through The last movement is powerful: The cries over the loss of a beloved child and the cries of giving birth to new life are presented as a call-and-response grounded by a powerful Om chant that creates a sacred space, reminding us that death and birth are both sacraments and are interwoven in the tapestry of life.
Dimash's vocalization and the pilgrims representing world religions and religious leaders, past and present, walking together shift the narrative toward the final conflict and finally redemption. When Dimash’s character decides to avenge the murder of his daughter, his state of consciousness is reflected in the darkening sky with lightning bolts of anger accompanying the storm of his emotions that buffets the pilgrims and hinder progress. The fog of war obscures the light.
When he is killed after exacting retribution, he is dropped back into the "sacred womb" of Earth, the ocean of love and mercy, and is cleansed of the old hatreds and grievances that only bring more death and suffering.
He breaks the wheel of endless war and suffering by choosing life. Dimash's scream of “we’re choosing life” is that of giving birth: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. His soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity as exemplified by the images of the children and the newborn baby.
The blowing of the shofar signals God's mercy for humankind when it turns from wrong to right: in the Zohar, the book of Jewish mysticism, it says: “When human beings repent of their sins, they blow the shofar on earth. Its sound ascends On High and awakens the heavenly shofar, and so mercy is aroused and judgment is removed.”
Reborn as a leader for peace and love, Dimash's character in the form of his son becomes a spiritual guide for all of mankind on our shared journey up the mountain towards the light of God, however we may interpret or name the divine. We are all on the same path, even if our personal narratives, cultural heritage, race, and spiritual orientations are very different from one another. By focusing on our common destination rather than on our differences, we can walk together in peace and love and mutual respect.
Carl Jung wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darkness of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
This is what Dimash has done with this work; he has made the darkness conscious. We can only raise our individual and collective consciousness by bringing to light what needs to be healed in our lives and our world, and then we need to work together to restore wholeness to what is broken and bring about peace and unity, one step at a time. We don’t have to wait. We can start right now. As the hymn tells us: "Let there peace in the world, and let it begin with me." Baraka Bashad.

How can you not admire, respect, and love such a wholesome artist with a beautiful heart and soul? Dimash’s song, video, and message are so powerful and compelling: The Story of One Sky is a heartfelt plea for peace.
We could feel his pain, passion, and desperation in his heavy metal like scream because he truly cares.
Dimash has found his calling as an artist: presenting his Kazakh culture to the world, but also spreading compassion, love, respect, and unity through his voice and music.
Indeed, in this short film (it’s more than a simple MV at this point!), Dimash is showing us that war is NOT the path to peace. War does not unite people like the antagonist preaches; but leads to “senseless horror”, destruction, grief, and death. At the end, he shows us the alternative to war by leading people from different faiths and cultures to the true path of peace and unity.
Also, one should strive indeed for understanding among different peoples, cultures, and religions so that there’s mutual respect in spite of our differences, hence the necessity of an open dialogue to solve any conflicts. I grew up in a multicultural environment, my parents being from different countries, ethnicities, and faiths… So yes, it’s possible to make this ideal a reality if each and every one of us raises our children to be kind and loving, open minded and respectful of others, regardless of their religious beliefs and backgrounds.
At last, I admire Dimash’s strong conviction and courage. I hope that his powerful, heartfelt plea for peace and unity will be heard all across the world.
Thank you so much for your genuine and deep appreciation of Dimash’s talent and wholesome personality; and also thank you for supporting him by sharing his heartfelt plea for peace. The Story of One Sky is such a compelling masterpiece! We’re choosing life… ☮️💟

Hi Aleks! Thank you for your sincere reaction! When I first watched this MV, it broke me, I became very emotional, it was heart wrenching, to say the least! 😥
You have a good eye for noticing that Dimash is the main solder right from the very beginning of the war scene, when he was walking under the overpass, and also when he was shot in the arm, many people miss that?
Dimash has worked very hard for 3 years composing the music for this song, and around 20 days to make this MV. It turned out to be his most valuable MV, in the ideological sense, ever made, a real Masterpiece! I believe that Dimash deserves THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE for his selfless hard work and tireless efforts, not only for this MV, but for trying to bring the world together in love, peace, and harmony. He is a Legend and will go down in History.
This is my breakdown of the story, as I see it:
This mini movie is full of symbolisms, it's the story of 3 youths, and the necklace which was created by the young Dimash and shared with his friends symbolizing lifelong friendship and unity. The boys both loved the same girl, but she loved Dimash and the other boy grew resentful over time. The boy who saved Dimash grew up to become the Piper and started a war, using the symbol of the necklace given to him by his friend, as the crest on his army uniform.
    1) Dimash, was the boy drowning at the beginning and at the end.
    2) The Piper, is the one who saved Dimash, became the leader, and was killed by Dimash at the end.
    3) The young girl, who died in childbirth, became Dimash’s future wife, had two children together; a daughter who was killed by the Piper's army; and the birth of a son at the end, who inherited the necklace from his mother…, they were all affected by the war.
For the symbolic aspects, Dimash is showing the different cultures and religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hindi, etc.), through throat singing, which is called the REQUIEM (mass for the souls of the dead), from different religions.
    I’M CHOSING LIFE!! 🙏🙏
See you in your next reaction. Love from Canada 💖

👉 That is the grandiose and impressive result of three years of compositional work by Dimash Qudaibergen.
This clip is not about war, it’s about peace. War here is a means of expressing the contrast of what happens when we lose love for one another. It is about the call to unite, to stop dividing each other along national, social, religious lines in order to preserve life, love, friendship, and the land for our children.
Story: The clip is divided into several parts. The first is about childhood. The main character and his 2 friends are linked in eternal friendship through childhood stories and a symbol (necklace).
One day, the friend saves the protagonist when he is drowning. However, there is already competition in this children's story as the boys are in love with the girl and she chooses 'Dimash'.
The pendant is a gnomon, the shadow hand of a sundial, which also served as a sea compass before antiquity. Uniform wearers wear this symbol on their heads. So it can't work.
The second transfers his problems, his unheard claims of ownership from childhood into the adult world and mercilessly follows his twisted ideology.
By becoming President, the antagonist (Piper - in reference to the 'Pied Piper of Hamelin') carries within himself the idea of a war to save:
“Only war will lead us to peace. Only the strongest can find love in their hearts. You must be strong enough to give freedom to the world. A world where every city, every home is one. We will guide all who are ready to start this new life. Anyone who resists has no business with us. I choose freedom. The world is open to me and I want to give it to you. War for the people is the way to unity.”
The main character also speaks of unity, of peace, but through the lens of kindness and love.
While fighting, he is confused, he is in shock, but he has to save his family - his pregnant wife (the very girl from his childhood) and his daughter. Once home, he is horrified by the picture of the dead and realizes that his family is also dead. After surviving this drama, he moves on to the antagonist to seek revenge.
However, the Protagonist’s wife survives with the help of people who know that she is the one who must give birth to a special boy who can save the world. These are people of different nationalities and faiths who have united for peace.
A parallel line of pilgrims are people of different religions, walking the hard path to some place of power where they could unite and discover the Heavenly Eye that would illuminate the world. By uniting, they create a common energy in which the protagonist’s son is born, as Hope and Faith for the Better. Their journey is a symbol of faith in general, because it always goes through trials. When we go to the truth, we go through certain lessons and our way to God is difficult, but only possible if we come together.
The words at the end of the video are from the "Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together" signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb, on February 4, 2019. Dimash met and spoke with both men at the September meeting.
    Producer - Dimash Qudaibergen
    Script - Dimash Qudaibergen
    Music - Dimash Qudaibergen
Lyrics - Liliya Vinogradova (she also wrote Passione, Ti Amo Cosi, Olimpico, etc...)
Directed by - Alina Veripia (She wrote the script and directed the MV "Okay")
DimashAli Director - Kanat Aitbayev (Dimash’s dad)
Dimash Qudaibergen’s 12-minute work is dedicated to the unity of people on our planet. We are all divided into races, nations and religions, but we are all children of one planet and live under one sky. Life is the highest value.
No sacred book calls for the destruction of people. We must learn to be friends; it is impossible for a few adults to cause millions of children to suffer. The future of our planet, the future of people is in our hands, let there be peace in the world.
We are children of one Home, one Earth and one Heaven.
    (description box, Dimash news, astanatimes)
My opinion: The whole song is an outcry. Dimash's unmistakable emotionally charged voice draws you into the video. I was totally hypnotized. My heart aches because of the wars and misery in this world. The greed, envy and intolerance of men will wipe them off the face of the earth if they do not come to their senses. Children and women are targeted victims of annihilation and rape in wars. But they are not just victims or mothers. They are half of humanity. Where are they? Why don't the women climb the mountain side by side with the men and head towards the sunrise and a better future? I only see men running mercilessly past a collapsed comrade-in-arms. Nobody helps him. What future can such a humanity await? Will anything ever change?
*** Pope Francis awarded a commemorative medal to Kazakh singer Dimash Qudaibergen during the Pope's visit to the Seventh Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions September 14-15, 2022 in Astana/Kazakhstan.

The music video premiered on September 24 at Dimash's meeting with fans in Almaty.
A few days earlier, Dimash said he had just shot 'the world's most expensive music video' to compose it. It used to be Michael Jackson's 'Scream'. (astanatimes)

Thank you your wonderful and empathetic reaction.
In The Story Of One Sky he sings the whole soundtrack himself.
The video shows once again that Dimash is an absolute genius. In singing but also as an actor and as a storyteller. The powerful message conveyed by this video is more relevant today than ever. I think this video is mostly about the message. This message however, is for the first time more important than his vocal abilities. His voice is just the tool in this video. But simply unbelievable. His singing is indescribable and I don’t have the words to express it adequately. But it is only the mediator of what this video is about. This is so heartbreaking and sad and an awesome masterpiece. Pure goosebumps. You probably have to see it more than once to understand it.
He worked on this composition for three years and also wrote the screenplay.
The premiere was on September 24, 2022.
As some have mentioned, this video should be seen by many people. It may be very brutal for some. But let’s not forget that for many, including children, this is everyday life in some countries. And Dimash relentlessly shows us how ugly war is.
Dimash was the little boy who was drowning in the beginning and he gave the necklace to his childhood friend (and future leader) and the girl. The girl on the beach was his future wife. She was pregnant and in the end of the video she gave birth to her and Dimashs' (character) second child. The littel girl who was shot was Dimashs and her first daughter. When he came home and saw his daughter dead on the ground, he had to assume that his wife was also killed. Desperation and maybe revenge has led him to kill his former friend. When I first saw the video, I was shocked. I didn't think he was going to shoot his friend. But in the end that all made sense. Dimash wanted to show what revenge can do. Violence always breeds violence, and because of this, not only is the leader dead, but so is Dimash. It was so heartbreaking to see Dimash drown at the end. Dimash in the last sequence of the video was the baby that was born and now as a grown man unites people of different nationalities and religions for peace. OMG he is such a phenomenal actor.
But it‘s funny how very few reactors realize that the soldiers shot in the arm at the beginning of the war scenes was Dimash.
If you want to know more about this video check out dimashnews. com
Btw, Dimash has received an award from Pope Francis personally at The Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions held in Kazakhstan on September 13, 2022. He performed the song there in connection with the congress before the premiere. Can you imagine, a Muslim receiving an award from the head of the Catholic Church. How wonderful is that🥰.
He also gave a speech at the first Central Asian Media Forum, in which he once again strongly advocated peace. You can see it with English subtitles.
    th-cam.com/video/2C55a3mvfP/w-d-xo.html
The official live version of his concert (on September 23, 2022 in front of 30,000 people from 68 different countries) is available on his channel, Almaty concert part 3 from minute 23:15 with a short speech in which he performed the song for the first time. You should definitely see this. There are subtitles in English
    th-cam.com/video/YP1r9wlkmHU/w-d-xo.html
And he's been singing it in all his concerts ever since. But always a little different.

    Oh, Alex!!!!!
You should definitely watch another version of this composition!!!!
This movie came out first. And it made an absolutely stunning impression. But after some time, about a year ago, Dimash had a solo concert in his homeland, in the city of Almaty, where he performed the same composition on stage. And it was a thousand times stronger than the film. A film: this is first an idea, staging, acting, albeit wonderful, with transformation... the first attempt to shoot a frame, a repeat of the frame, the second, the tenth... Then the choice of the best frame from several, editing, voice acting... Well, as in any movie.
And there are no takes on stage. Here and now. And a young guy with a magnificent cosmic talent stands on stage and sings so that it seems that he is tearing off his skin, almost dying in front of thousands of people, screaming about peace so that his soul is about to burst out of his chest, tearing our souls apart too... I was very scared for him when I watched this performance for the first time....
For me, the concert version is incomparably better than the film in terms of intensity and dedication to people. He didn't play - he sang as if it was the last time in his life.
There is an official version from this concert, there are fancams - better or worse. Choose for yourself what to watch. But you have to do it. Moreover, it was from a concert in Almaty. He then sang it in subsequent concerts, but in Almaty it was something especially incredible.
Good luck Alex! You are so cool! We have even advised our beloved translator Asylkhan to contact you with a request that you allow him to make a competent translation of your reactions. He's already translated a lot of the reactions from your friend Phil, whom we absolutely adore. You still have so much to see from what Dimash has done in just a few years.
Peace to you and your family, Alex!
    =====
    Ох, Алекс!!!!!

There are live versions from Dimash’s recent concerts around the world. His emotions are raw and you can see his shining soul in his performances. The video concept was led by Dimash as well as the music. I hold this young man in such high esteem- as do all of his dears. For me, he is a beautiful person: the soul, the talent, the voice, the mind and - yes - the person, but Dimash becomes more attractive when you see the soul. You were so very close to his message with your interpretation that I was subconsciously encouraging you to look up or move forward- not because I didn’t want to listen to you, but to observe your response to Dimash’s written message at the end. Normally I offer cheers from Canada but after this song I always prefer to offer prayers from Canada. Take care.

The title itself - “Story of One Sky” - is thought-provoking. Before Islam became the predominant religion in Kazakhstan, the nomadic people of the steppes followed Tengriism with Father Sky and Mother Earth as deities. Like many old pantheistic religions, its core tenet was the “unity of all things” since everything in the natural world is animated by and connected through spirit. This concept of spiritual unity lives on in Kazakh traditions, music and poetry.
It is subtitled "Requiem” to commemorate and mourn all those who have died in war and in the struggle for peace, but it is also a vision for the future and a call to action to save ourselves and our world. Raised in an observant Muslim household, classically trained in music, educated in world and Kazakh history, and immersed in literature and folklore, Dimash has a deep understanding of sacred music and the mystic teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as ancient traditions, so it is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14, 2022, at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Kazakhstan.
In the MV, the child who later becomes the military commander never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, the boy, gives his friend the pendant, the camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl. Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral compass. Later, we see a version of the gnomon as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers, but it is distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through rendering it useless as a compass. When we lose the original intent of a symbol by twisting it into something it is not or by just paying lip service, it no longer has any spiritual meaning. At best it becomes a useless prop, at worst it is used to mislead and manipulate people.
Dimash interweaves the past and the present, the ancient and the modern, throughout this work. Alluding to more contemporary music, with the phrase "We have passed the moment of Imagine," Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony to be achieved by erasing our differences and giving up our identities. The world is complex, cultural roots run deep, and people experience life quite differently across the globe. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must find common ground while respecting our differences and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light.
We see that happening every day around us.
Many of us remember the story of the Pied Piper of Hameln from our childhood. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence. That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start war, who do not support war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love.
Waldenburg is only 28 miles from my hometown and was completely destroyed. There are no winners in war. Dimash is right: war is death.
The last movement is powerful: The cries over the loss of a beloved child and the cries of giving birth to new life are presented as a call-and-response grounded by a powerful Om chant and punctuated by the sound of Tibetan bells that create a sacred space, reminding us that death and birth are both sacraments and are interwoven in the tapestry of life. The birth underground is reminiscent of the sacred cave Akmeshit (White Mosque) found in Southern Kazakhstan, an ancient place of power said to heal diseases and cure infertility. Dimash's vocalization and the pilgrims representing world religions and religious leaders, past and present, walking up the sacred mountain together shift the narrative toward the final conflict and finally redemption. With the mountain scenes, Dimash alludes to another sacred place in Kazakhstan on the Kazakh/Russian border, Ice Mountain, which is referred to by the local Altai residents as “The dwelling of the Gods” and by Buddhists as the location of the Shambhala, the legendary country of Gods.
When Dimash’s character decides to avenge the murder of his daughter, his state of consciousness is reflected in the darkening of the sky with lightning bolts of anger accompanying the storms of his emotions that buffet the pilgrims. Dimash's scream of “we’re choosing life” is also that of giving birth: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. Soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity as exemplified by the images of the children and the newborn baby.
There is a very moving scene where pilgrims bury a man who perished on the journey. Men of different faiths come together to honor his life and his passing. This reverent expression of love and unity stands in stark contrast to the commander’s harsh pronouncement that it is war that unites people.
Carl Jung wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people.
As the hymn goes: "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me."
Dimash is a very spiritual person, so using the symbols and sounds of the major world religions is fitting for this work. For those who do not subscribe to any faith tradition, I want to mention Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s latest book “Starry Messenger” where this agnostic scientist calls for the need to develop a cosmic perspective along with the rationality of science to solve the intractable human conflicts that so often lead to war. It is on that HIGHER ground - be it in religion, humanism, or science - that we can find COMMON ground.

I met Dimash 4 years ago, when my heart and soul were so broken that I could no longer live on my own.
One night I had a razor on my table ready to be used. At that moment something gave me the impulse to go to TH-cam and when I opened it, the first video was "S.O.S" by Dimash. I put it on thinking it would be the last thing I heard, but his voice and the lyrics hit my heart so hard that it began to beat and with each beat I cried heartbreakingly while I felt like they were hugging my soul and telling me that "everything would be okay."
I still struggle through the days, but I feel like Dimash helps me get through them.
