How many foam board do you need per letter

Your way seem so easy but when I tried your method, my measurement were off when I started building the foundation to stack the letters. So I'm back to using the styrofoam cups for a more accurate height. Thank for the ideal and inspiration.
yes this. method needs a little accuracy with the measurements but more cost effective. The styrofoam cups idea is also definitely good.

Do you just wing the measurements or do you just cut the first letter and trace that one? do you use a stencil at all to trace out the letters or do you free hand?
for simple letters i do free hand
but mostly i use paper stencil that i make myself,

Quick question. I just downloaded a letter but I’m not sure how to make it a 30 inch tall letter. Can you explain how you made these letters 30 inches. Please and thank you.
if you downloaded from my link, for each letter you must have got 8 pieces. you need to print all 8 pieces on 8 A4 paper and then when you join all of them you will get one big 30" tall letter

can you post the measurements for making numbers. How many boards are needed?
size of one number is 30" tall, 20" wide, 10" deep
for one number, around 6 boards are needed

So nice!! Where can we buy these large foam board pieces? DT ones are too small. TY!
the one i used are from DT, they are 30" tall and good enough to make these letters, if you want bigger letters you can attach two boards together with hot glue. Thats what i do for 4 and 5ft letters

Like the pieces you use to provide stability, the inserts, etc..It would be great to have some mesurements other than the size and width of the letter. I am going to use this method to make some numbers this week. Thanks for sharing your method. The styrofoam cup method would drive me crazy.
