I've seen too many people go into the military since there was no draft very often because of no other opportunities which again in my opinion is tragic. Yet, when military personnel have most non-related "seeing action" injuries, they are set for life. It is so wrong! And as you stated, many of them would have been homeless. I'm friends with one of them that at one time was homeless.
One of the problems for homelessness in America is because families don’t support each other like they should. They won’t help even their own blood. But when I look at some Spanish people, I see how they really care for each other, mostly Mexicans.
In the Philippines too. We are not perfect but at least in many families (if not all), members help each other and take care of our olds. Many if not all have homes where to comfortably sleep. Praying everything will be better back there.

This is heart wrenching! I am a South African and we are so used to seeing this back home, I never thought I'd see this in the US. We usually think of the US coming up with solutions for this kind of crisis. Its extremely sad to see people just sleeping on the ground, nowhere to go.

I live in Los Angeles: homelessness is normal and not shocking anymore. It’s literally everywhere: from Anaheim, Long Beach, DTLA, Venice, Santa Monica, to Malibu! People are sleeping on the sidewalk at night or riding the bus all night then find a park to sleep in the daytime. Or they live in encampments or tents. Trust me, I rode the bus as a homeless person myself. Homeless is not just drug addicts; a large portion of the homeless you don’t see are women over 60 and disabled people. Even with their disability or retirement income, housing is not affordable. I hear working guys say they are ripped off paying rent or motel fees when they can just sleep outside. If rents weren’t so high homelessness would be cut in half.
Missionaries are spending millions of dollars in other countries to spread Christianity can't they spend some on these people. Shame on them who talk of Christ but do nothing for these people who repose faith in Christ.
I've been working with the homeless off and on since 1991 through churches and outreach programs. I remember in 1991 we had a actually search for homeless people and today you have to search for area with no homeless people. I remember the first feeding we were part of we made hamburgers off of Hollywood Boulevard at Hollywood high School in the parking lot and we had maybe 50 people that we fed. Today the line would probably wrap around the block two times.

I live in Indonesia, a country that is not as rich as European and North American countries. But homelesness is a very rare sight, there are some homeless people but generally they became homeless because they left home and unable to find the way to return home due to their mental illness.
Being rich is not all about how much money in your pocket or bank account... Being contented, happy, in good health, in a place of peace that is heaven for me... in a peaceful dwelling places... natural resources of food.
I never thought that this kind of massive poverty would occur in America. I was raised in NYC during the 50s . You could buy a mechanic's special house for less than $4000 back then. Now I see this video and I wonder what the next 50 yrs. will bring to the USA.

Their is about and I'm giving it a very low number, about 95% of the people that are homeless in the greater Phoenix area are junkies that do perks aka blues. When you put drug to your mouth and inhale at that moment you take full responsibility of what may happen. People that are using those drugs at least one dies every three days, think about that for a second. Don't do drugs kids your life may end!

I’m homeless and live in my car, been going through a lot of emotional trauma but am strong enough to pull me and my loved one out of this. My problem is finding the sense to pay rent. It just feels like a waste of money to me, paying someone else’s mortgage plus some, doesn’t correlate well with me. Saving money and staying healthy are the biggest things with being homeless. If you have no responsibilities besides basic necessities and a phone bill you should be able to save enough if you work enough. When you are on your knees you have to sometimes find the mental strength to get through your current problem and work on the next problem. Some people have much larger problems but a-lot of it have to do with mindset and success in overcoming your challenges or barriers in life.
To those saying they never thought the USA was like this, 50-75% of the U.S. wealth is tied up in the top 10% of people. The rest of us are expected to pay anywhere from $1,500/month-$5,000/month for rent in a cliche area. Not including insurance or other BASIC necessities. All of that on a $15-$40/hr average. The only ways to make it here are to struggle, save and invest or create an idea you can make a company out of. I have a couple projects going but still developing. Currently we have some of the worst leadership back-to-back over the last couple decades. It’s all corruption and self-interest policing.
The solution is u.s.dollar to be collapse and replace with new economic system backed by Gold and silver. This system dollar only benefit for elites , corporation and the richest not the people of america and people of world
Stay strong bro, I've been there. Lived in my car for 2 years after a divorce. I bought a gym membership so I could shower, and workout. I would find places in the country to park and sleep, sometimes in a Walmart parking lot. Prayer is the most important, always pray brother. Stay safe 🙏

In the USA you can loose everything even if you have a good education, good work ethic and you don’t drink and you don’t do drugs and are law abiding. All that needs to happen is that a person gets seriously sick or disabled. First they loose their job. With that they loose their income and their health insurance. Eventually they loose their home. There is no social safety net here. The USA is brutal. The USA is only a good country to live in if you’re in the top 10% of income earners.
Growing up in a third world country in the 1970s, many of my school mates had ambitions to study and live in America. It was truly the Land of Milk and Honey, the pinnacle of our hopes and dreams. Hollywood movies painted a wonderful picture of all things Americana. My elder brother secured a college scholarship, went over and later achieved the proverbial American Dream. I wanted to go the following year but family poverty hindered my progress. That was then. Would I want to live in America today? Definitely not. In many ways, that magical destination of my childhood has become a nightmare. I need not go into the many factors causing the decline of this Beautiful Country. Internal decay is setting in so politicians look for an external enemy, their bogeyman.

I had a homeless girl to who sometimes I give food to with her mum. Suddenly her mum disappeared and left her alone to look after herself. She was 10 by then and my daughter liked her a lot. I don't have a husband but I'm scared of taking her in
They might be wronged, out of the way.. but they're still human like us who still needs help food was they need most. We can still help up to our best that they still deserve.😢
I have read most of the comments. Everybody is right in their own perspective. However, it is painful, nobody likes to live that way. Driven by drugs, discrimination, unequal opportunity, misfortune, govt policies, capitalism and greedy money makers, poor planning they ended up in their comfort zone. What is the way out? Complex!

@@LoveIXTC I'm not a rich person but my situation is better than 80 to 90 percent of my society, I helped people a lot, but i found that people that some circumstances make them poor when u help them , they will stand on their foot again and manage themselves, but there is a percentage of people who are poor naturally and not by circumstances, whatever u do for these people they will remain poor , some poor families when u provide them with all their needs after a while u find that they doubled in numbers and return poor again, some u help them to manage themselves and then u find that ur help was spent playing poker and need help again, then u help them again, also spent in poker .. some are mismanagements u help them then u find they are wasting what u helped them on very expensive items that u don't buy and need help again and again, and some are spoiled and don't work no matter how easy is the work ...etc

I helped out a lady around four years ago. I seen her the other day. Still there. Some of these folks don't get a shower for months or years. Including older females. Society could help a bit more
By doing what? There are facilities for these people but they have to follow rules (stay clean, don't use) and most don't follow the rules. They'd rather stay on the streets. So what is it that "society could help a bit more" with?
The solution would be... A person can't own more than 2 house and lot (properties). The reason is that, rich people or people that can afford will buy several properties and thus depleting the supply and when that happens demand and prices will skyrocket.

I travel around to work so I stay in hotel with kitchen,some time I see some people drop a woman and couple kids with her at the hotel, the woman cry before say goodbye to the friend or relative,may be she just get divorce and doesn't want to be homeless.

It really breaks my heart to see the plight of these people, just thinking what's their goverment doing for them. There's a lot of addicts here in my country but they are civil enough to stay out of the street and the government is doing its best to help them thru rehabilitation.
There are many places to help the homeless but they choose not to go so of course the funding is gonna stop for a service that's not being used and then it's the governments fault for not helping them

Their is about and I'm giving it a very low number, about 95% of the people that are homeless in the greater Phoenix area are junkies that do perks aka blues. When you put drug to your mouth and inhale at that moment you take full responsibility of what may happen. People that are using those drugs at least one dies every three days, think about that for a second. Don't do drugs kids your life may end!

I’m homeless and live in my car, been going through a lot of emotional trauma but am strong enough to pull me and my loved one out of this. My problem is finding the sense to pay rent. It just feels like a waste of money to me, paying someone else’s mortgage plus some, doesn’t correlate well with me. Saving money and staying healthy are the biggest things with being homeless. If you have no responsibilities besides basic necessities and a phone bill you should be able to save enough if you work enough. When you are on your knees you have to sometimes find the mental strength to get through your current problem and work on the next problem. Some people have much larger problems but a-lot of it have to do with mindset and success in overcoming your challenges or barriers in life.
To those saying they never thought the USA was like this, 50-75% of the U.S. wealth is tied up in the top 10% of people. The rest of us are expected to pay anywhere from $1,500/month-$5,000/month for rent in a cliche area. Not including insurance or other BASIC necessities. All of that on a $15-$40/hr average. The only ways to make it here are to struggle, save and invest or create an idea you can make a company out of. I have a couple projects going but still developing. Currently we have some of the worst leadership back-to-back over the last couple decades. It’s all corruption and self-interest policing.
The solution is u.s.dollar to be collapse and replace with new economic system backed by Gold and silver. This system dollar only benefit for elites , corporation and the richest not the people of america and people of world
Stay strong bro, I've been there. Lived in my car for 2 years after a divorce. I bought a gym membership so I could shower, and workout. I would find places in the country to park and sleep, sometimes in a Walmart parking lot. Prayer is the most important, always pray brother. Stay safe 🙏

In many ways, that magical destination of my childhood has become a nightmare. I need not go into the many factors causing the decline of this Beautiful Country. Internal decay is setting in so politicians look for an external enemy, their bogeyman.

I have read most of the comments. Everybody is right in their own perspective. However, it is painful, nobody likes to live that way. @@LoveIXTC I'm not a rich person but my situation is better than 80 to 90 percent of my society, I helped people a lot, but i found that people that some circumstances make them poor when u help them , they will stand on their foot again and manage themselves, but there is a percentage of people who are poor naturally and not by circumstances, whatever u do for these people they will remain poor , some poor families when u provide them with all their needs after a while u find that they doubled in numbers and return poor again, some u help them to manage themselves and then u find that ur help was spent playing poker and need help again, then u help them again, also spent in poker .. some are mismanagements u help them then u find they are wasting what u helped them on very expensive items that u don't buy and need help again and again, and some are spoiled and don't work no matter how easy is the work ...etc

It really breaks my heart to see the plight of these people, just thinking what's their goverment doing for them. There's a lot of addicts here in my country but they are civil enough to stay out of the street and the government is doing its best to help them thru rehabilitation.
There are many places to help the homeless but they choose not to go so of course the funding is gonna stop for a service that's not being used and then it's the governments fault for not helping them
