This was my beloved father's favourite piece of music. He died suddenly in 1980 whilst I was still young. One regret I have had is that I was so devastated I didn't have prescence of mind to have this played at his funeral. This is for you Dad. XX
Not having the presence of mind when you are younger is no fault of yours. I'm certain your father would be proud of you for hearing him in the music when you remember him all the days of your life past, present and future.
There is much great music and because we are all different there is no "best" music. But for sheer beauty and ability to stir emotion, this little piece is in my top-ten list. Every time I hear this intermezzo it plays itself over and over in my brain for about a week!
This was my Mum and Dad's wedding music 60 years ago. also my sisters. We had it played at Mum's funeral also. Loveliest piece of music ever, never tire of hearing it but with mixed emotions.
This was my mom's favourite piece of music and it was played at her funeral a few weeks ago. Watching the video makes it almost bearable to listen to again.
The scene in Rurouni Kenshin when he says goodbye to Kaoru before leaving for Kyoto. The scenery, the theme, and this beautiful masterpiece brings me to tears every time.
God in Heaven, how you extract such raw beauty and compassion through your creation of such breath-taking orchestral art.... amazing, literally brought tears to my eyes....
A true inspiration, this isn't music isn't appreciated by children anymore. I'm so glad I'm getting my friends to listen to this, because all they do is listen to rap and don't broaden their musical mind. Thank God such beautiful music exists, because it has lead me to being the person I am today, and it's changing how my friends act.
I heard it on an England Football Team nostalgia video, Midsummer Night's Dream (1999 version) and the Gladiators farewell monatge. Never get tired of it.
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written, without any doubt.I've heard it hundreds of times and each time it gives me goosebumps.Che bellissima musica!Bravo Mascagni! Grazie mille for posting it.
Karajan captures all the beauty of this gorgeous music as well or even better than I have ever heard it done. There is not the slightest nuance out of place Bravo!
This truly encompasses bittersweet emotion. It has a feeling of sadness you can achieve only through the loss of something you love. Its as if this sound is an emotion. The story really holds the feeling, as you watch the tragedy of Turiddu.
It is a place named "Terrazza Mascagni" in Livorno, Tuscany, Italy, the city where Pietro Mascagni (the author of the music) was born in the end of the eighteenth century.
The composer of this song Pietro Mascagni was from Tuscany in Northern Italy by the way. God does the world owe Italy gratitude with the beautiful culture she has bequethed us. Bella Vita! Grazi Italia!
the imagines are from the "terrazza Mascagni" in Livorno in front of the sea and surrounded by the city so the modern buildings and streets and cars. amazing music!!!
This was my mom's favourite piece of music and we had it played at her funeral a few weeks ago. The video makes it almost bearable to hear again. Very moving.
Chi è sensibile come me sa di cosa parlo :-).
How music can accent a moment. The first time I hear this piece was at the end of an anime (yeah I know) but the moment was so tender and the music just made it so beautiful!!! I cry whenever I listen to it because that same feelings comes into my mind. Thank you
OMG... I know exactly what you are talking about... and I actually agree. I recognized the piece immediately and I was like.... omg......... and every time I think about it I get chills down my spine. This incredible piece of music made that scene incredibly powerful and extremely moving.
This is the kind of music that touches your soul. Amazing how can there be anyone who dislikes it ?! Everytime I listen to it the GODFATHER trilogy movies pop in my mind.
PvT Freddy, don't know who or where your at, but this is one one of the most beautiful bits of music ever, I to have arranged for it at my funeral. Hope I'm with the angels to hear it. God bless.
I have to say... props to the anime "Rurouni Kenshin" for using this beautiful piece in their series. It truly is flawless in composition and beauty... and it only enhanced the show by making the emotional scene, in which the hero has to say goodbye to his sweetheart, even more heartbreaking.
It's not complicated to deal why this one is the Mascagni's most important work, only this intermezzo provokes very deep sensations. There is no doubt that the music is better than any drug :-D
It somehow made me feel sorry for the death of the character played by perhaps the worst actress in history. She ruined that movie for me, but this is absolutely beautiful.
This Intermezzo was inspired to Mascagni by all angels of Heaven, goes beyond fantasy, extasy and perfection, it's pure peace making me wanna get rid of the whole world stuff and fly higher and higher. Before I first "found it out" thanks to my Italian literature prof at the college (Verga's "Novellas" were the topic of the monographic part of the exam), I definitely had never been born.

Once of the nicest pieces of music to be heard in a long time
what a wonderful music!!!!!!!!!!!!
It dirves me to tears .................... remembering better days which passed away

Pietro Mascagni is a genious!!! because this is one of the best opera's songs that I heard
The scene in Rurouni Kenshin when he says goodbye to Kaoru before leaving for Kyoto. The scenery, the theme, and this beautiful masterpiece brings me to tears every time.
Wasn't it when they came back and Kaoru says "okaerinasai" for the first time?
@@Arkhael666 Just saw this! Sorry! And no, it was when he left.

I watch Cavalleria Rusticana few months ago in my country.. Just because i adore sicilian people and i adore The Godfather.. It was sooooo beautiful!
Probably the most beautiful and powerful piece of music ever composed.
Imprime serenità all'anima!
The Mascagni terrace of LIVORNO ♥️🇮🇹 is marvelous as the interlude of the CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA.
Me too. I think it's the MOST beautiful piece of music in the world. I LOVE it

Una nostalgia struggente...
One of the most tender and beautiful pieces of music ever written. If this doesn't touch your heart, you're already dead.
THIS ALONG WITH SAMUEL BARBERS ADAGIO FOR STRINGS ARE THE TWO SADDEST PIECES OF CLASSICAL MUSIC I HAVE EVER HEARD.THIS ONE TUGS AT THE HEART. SO SAD
And I am proud to have ancestors from Livorno, as well as Palermo and many other Sicilian regions. My family is huge, lol.
Karajan captures all the beauty of this gorgeous music as well or even better than I have ever heard it done. There is not the slightest nuance out of place Bravo!

I get the same feeling! Every time!

Love this score from both Raging Bull but in The Goddather part III when Michael loses his daughter then it get's to me, such a powerful scene.
It somehow made me feel sorry for the death of the character played by perhaps the worst actress in history. She ruined that movie for me, but this is absolutely beautiful.
@VeroniqueCG My favorite quote: When people hear good music, it makes them homesick for something they've never had, and never will have.
My heart widens while hearing it.
.. MERAVIGLIOSO !!! grazie amico mio :)) buona sera . Helena
Every time I listen to it, brings tears to my eyes.
Me too. Beautiful song!!!
E' bellissima e intramontabile!
