Obviously using a powered cable is going to give best band width, and performance, but using Virtual Desktop just blew my mind how good the quality was with no wires!

Love my quest 3! When you get a chance, jump into the Nurburgring, set your time to 0600 .... Its a visual joy! The way the fog settles and the rays beam thru the morning air .... Its crazy good. Cheers man!
Mate, I have the exact same combination including the BoboVR headstrap. Totally agree, AMS2 is the only title I run in VR as it's so good, others I stick to my super ultra-wide. Only slight downside is I have WiFi 5 not 6 however I added a second router as an access point near my PC so it's smooth & stutter free

@@Wilayaat Just for giggles maybe try 72hz Normal mode and bitrate 120 in VD stream settings with those settings. While Im not saying its AMS2 VR quality it is very playable for me.
You don't have the annoying lod pop-up issue? Like for instance the drivers disappear on the karts when they are a bit pulling away is the most obvious lod issue that I can't believe Reiza still hasn't fixed. Is there a hidden setting somewhere to increase Lod1 distance?
Spot on, the biggest upgrade for me was the clairty and the immense sweetspot on the quest. That alone is worth the change of headset imho. I use the steam link app, it has a 300mb mode which is slightly better visually then virtual desktop.
The Q3 using VD blows my mind. Getting the Q3 has greatly eased my mind from the G2 and Windows 24H2 fiasco. It is what I had always hoped the G2 would be but never was. I had a Pimax Crystal Light and it was junk compared to the much lower res Q3 surprisingly. Back it went. My guess is the PimaxXR they use is total crap whereas the VDXR is magic software that makes everything better..
I have been borrowing a Varjo Aero and am looking at a Quest 3 for myself. Will be interesting to see the difference when I get it, the Aero is higher resolution but as it doesn't have the pancake lenses the Q3 apparently has a sharper image....which seems nuts as the Aero is pretty amazing.
I just managed to upgrade from my Quest 2 to a Quest 3, And yes everything you say is right, Though I have not tried the G2, I can explain why the Quest 3 knocks spots off the Quest 2, In fact I wish I just got the Quest 3 in the first place, lol, Next it will be my GPU but I will say the Quest 3 is less stuttery than the Quest 2, In fact I ain't even had any stutters since using the Quest 3, I only had it Sun so I am still exploring the Quest 3, But the display on the Quest 3 is amazing I will say and again I only have a 12gb 3060 and it seems to cope with AMS 2 and the Quest 3, I ain't tried IL-2 Sturmovic either yet, I also got the X Rebirth VR to see and have a change from Sim Racing, Oh and Euro Truck 2 I bet is fantastic with the Quest 3, I will try that later as well, I still don't understand why I see games being released with no VR support, As soon as most of joe public has a Quest or VR, You will be hard pressed to find people still using monitors, I even noticed the price drop over the last year on Monitors, Prob coz VR is taking over, The movie room on the Quest 3 says it all, How many families will start using a Quest 3 to watch movies, Be odd though watching a whole family all sitting with VR on, lol, But as soon as VR goggles becomes like the Big Screen Beyond without the heavy price they do have, But have you seen the Big Screen Beyond VR, 2 grand is a bit over the edge though for a small ass pair of VR goggles, Also the Pimax Crystal, Pimax has got a lite version that is 600 pounds but for me the Quest 3 have found it's ground, I think I will be sim racing more now I have the Quest 3, You can't beat 4k for gaming, Regardless of what people say, 4k is the sweet spot of VR so it seems, lol.... But yeah I am too now down in the Quest 3 club, lol.... And yes it is worth what I paid, I bought a refurbished one from Amazon, And I am impresses, The thing is brand new looking with warrantee, 350 is an amazing price, And a no brainer for people like me who not got a lot of money, I never knew refub from Amazon was so flipping good to be fair, I am well glad I did now, The refurbished Quest 3 on Amazon is worth every penny of the 350 by the way, I am actually impressed Amazon is able to actually do the refurbished 130 pounds cheaper and you would not tell the different, Mint condition as brand new..... My Quest 3 journey begins, lol.....
Great review. How is the motion sickness? I remember playing GT7 VR on ps5 a while back and couldn’t deal with it. Also, would you say this looks better than AC in VR?

@Dachopper_ not long at all, just make sure your using vr at 90hz. If your frame rate drops, you might get sick. I never really had an issue in vr, as when your driving, your sitting down anyway, but most get used to it very quickly. Don't think about it, just drive and have fun!
Wait till you have a look at rF2! In VR it is just so clear even on my G2, I always hear the Quest has compression artifacts (what does that even look like?) and that's why i have never bought one. I have a 4090 but no wifi.
They sell a device called a PrismXR (used to be Puppis) for around $70 that plugs into your PC and then gives a connection to your Q3. Solid 2401mbs. Perhaps a cheaper option than a WiFi6 router?
@@fofocho71 obviously the PSVR has better contrast, and very good black levels, but I'm my opinion not enough to warrant buying a PSVR. The quests pancake lenses make it a winner for me.
I have the PSVR2 and a Quest 3, the Q3 has much better clarity and a much better sweet spot. TBH I was pretty disappointed with PSVR2, I was expecting it to be a lot better. Colours are good but the image is pretty blurry except for the small sweet spot. I can definitely recommend the Q3 over the PSVR2.

I have the psvr2 only and a 4080s in order to replace my arc750. Would virtual desktop make any sense for me (instead of steam vr) or is it only good for use with quest2/3 ? Haven't understood the advantage of virtual desktop. Main vr game ac, Looping forward to ams2 and acc, ace.
4080 is more than enough, like Aubrey said, the networking side is very important if you want go wireless.i.e. decent wifi 6 router directly limked to your pc plus the router within close range of your headset. Also, if you can, try and get an AMD 7800X3D and decent RAM. 👌🏻
It's not at least wifi 6. it works fine with wifi 5. I have wifi 5 but bought a wifi 6 router and actually went back to my wifi 5 ISP router co's some reason it worked better than the wifi 6 router I plugged into it.
I haven't tried it yet on my 4080 Super. But it looked awesome on my Rx 6800 even.But low fps on that. felt smooth though. So looking forward to trying all my VR games on my new 4080 super.
@roolixgaming2718 Everything is miles better using virtual desktop, it also has more options to tune your settings, depending on your set-up. The crazy thing is, for me I find it looks just as good as using a link cable.
You will get the best visuals using a high quality powered Link cable. Added bonus is your battery nevers runs flat. Use oculus debug tool to set the link speed to 940mbps and H264 video codec - zero artefacts. Anyone claiming better visuals using wifi virtual desktop does not understand how to properly set the wired cx. Lots of misinformed & bad info out there.

You also need to clarify which cables. I tried five different cheap generic cables and they all sucked @ less than 2gbp. Even the $80 Meta cable wasnt as good as VD is for me. The VDXR is the magic sauce. Most people use VDXR wrong as well. Just sliding the Bitrate to 200% defeats some of its main advantages. You can super sample in VD using a 100 bitrate and then less than god mode to give god mode type of results with a higher Frame rate.

@johnny5132 Can't remember the car exactly, maybe the fan car. Just wanted open wheeler to test the vr. The track is old vintage Nurburgring. I wasn't going fast in it, I was too busy looking at the scenery!🤣 It probably looks fast from the recording.
Man I use to have g2, that sweet spot sucked constantly moving my head makes the lenses look blurry, with question 3 no slim sweet spot problems? It’s awesome with bobo s strap

Im one step from max with 4070 ti sup. So i think , yes ( 2x upscal, VD ultra, msaa high, 90 fps with 30cars. Only day races) so i believe you can do this with 4090 at night in storm. 😎
@@lucasomeister2823 No, its not. I have a Pimax crystal and a Q3 and the cystal is much clearer. Q3 is great, but you can't beat a headset that connects directly to the display port on your graphics card. The Q3 looks pretty good, but its not as clear at mid to long range distances as the Crystal. And I've tried link cable and VD.
The Q3 makes the G21 look like utter trash. I've owned and original occulus, vive, index, vive pro 2 and the Q3 is far far far far better than any of those. It's the lenses. The Q3 is outstanding and you can get one used of FBM, for like 250. Insane. I have a 5800x3d/4080 and its plenty for this in ams2. The only drawback is the USB connection vs. DisplayPort. There is compression and with that comes latency, but I will say, VD is amazing and the latency is only a few milliseconds more that hard wired, provided you have a 6 or 6E router in the same room. Make sure to use oculus debug tool to tweak some settings too, like if using a cable, you need to increase the max bandwidth to around 750, turn off dynamic bitrate (especially for a 4090). Easily the best VR racing sim there is.

I believe the link cable max at 2.3 gb. And the 6e wifi max out at 2.4gb most models

ACC is a better simulator and worth getting running.

Wish I could fix the huge skyscrapers that appear in my view. AMS2 is unplayable on quest 3 with the 4070super.

Which version of VD are u using? In my case the latest released doesn't work with AMS2, I had to downgrade it to the v. 1.32.9.

What about Contrast and colors? Are the Quest3 miles behind PSVR2 as many say?

My mesh network is wifi 6, and is 5ghz. wifi 6e is 6ghz, and quite a substantial increase.

are you able to maximize the the quest 3 resolution with the 4090 ?

On deafult yes, but 4090 and little bit of knowledge and Q3 is way above price/performance to Crystal light.
