We had a 24' RS3 traded into us with 6K miles. I took it for a "test drive", and have to agree with what you say about the gearing, and drive modes. The Sport drive mode felt like it was too much for riding in a parking lot or around town, the engine braking is a bit crazy in my opinion. The gears riding out was another thing I thought was odd, it didn't bang through the gears as I expected it to. I own a 21' Daytona Charger with the 6.4L 392, even when I'm in Street I can get the power I'm looking for, Sport and Track just enhances it and makes the downshifting and engine gearing a little more pronounced. Lol, bro didn't know how to drive his RS3, lmao. If you drive it in RS Individual mode, all of the power delivery issues he mentions are irrelevant. Stop spreading misinformation bro and learn how to drive the car!
Wrong. I actually drove in RS individual most of the time because I like to adjust the settings to my liking. However, If you have the car in Sport or RS Performance mode, it's way too aggressive to use that for daily driving and the power delivery is very peaky. If you wanna be revving to 4k every shift and doing aggressive downshifts while getting 15mpg, sure, daily drive in one of the sport modes!
Stage 1 91 was slower but the power band was much better, felt torquey. Stage 1 E85 is almost the same speed, it’s like splitting hairs, but feels much quicker in the golf due to the short gears and torque. Edit: stage 1 e85 would normally be much faster than a stock rs3 but DSG tunes are not available.

If it’s a 2nd car and you’re keeping your GTI, I’d suggest M2. However, if AWD is a must, m3 all the way unless it’s out of budget. RS3 is still good for a lot of people.
@ yea it’d be a 2nd car. I love my golf for practicality and its performance with the tune is good enough for daily for me. Ok I was thinking m3 too just didn’t know if it’d be worth the money. I want AWD for sure.
M3 is worth the money, but it’s a massive jump. Test drive both and see if the rs3 will suffice.
Rs3 is faster than the rs5 isn’t it? And ttrs faster than rs3
Yeah the rs3 and the rs5 are similar. I could see it going either way
Lol, bro didn't know how to drive his RS3, lmao.
Sounds like your MK8 R ruined the RS3 for you! 😉
Sounds crazy af to me 😂
It’s true tho. Golf R did everything I wanted and was more spacious inside. Save yourself roughly 20k too.
@ would you say your stage 1 MK8 R was faster or slower than the stock RS3?
Stage 1 91 was slower but the power band was much better, felt torquey. Stage 1 E85 is almost the same speed, it’s like splitting hairs, but feels much quicker in the golf due to the short gears and torque.
Edit: stage 1 e85 would normally be much faster than a stock rs3 but DSG tunes are not available.
@ that’s interesting considering how much more and RS3 is new vs a MK8 R. I think people hate on the MK8 R because it’s new, and they assume that it’s just like the MK7 performance wise, which it is not. Way more potential…I think you proved that in your vlog when you raced a FBO Stage 2 MK7 R in your MK8 R and won. lol.
Good points....I can't say I regret buying a 2023 RS3, the 2025 M2 is just better in literally every respect with possible exception of inclement weather
They’re 2 different experiences but often compared because the price point. But yes, for me, the M2 is the clear choice.
@JVette01 M2 is a great choice for sure, but depending on needs, the RS3 is a better fit since it can do more things!😄
That is true. That’s why I initially thought it would be the perfect one car solution.. And it is for some people!
@@speeddemonRS3 it's has 4 doors if you mean do more things but not exactly a family car
@fzr1000981 It has Quattro as well in case you forgot and it gets more than 120 miles on a tank of gas! 13.7 tank on the M2 means you're living at the gas station literally!!😆
RS3 bores me hence why I’m going back to the M2. I tried convincing my wife to take the RS3 but she doesn’t want it lmao
@RedlineMaximaSE Sure you did Maxima broke boy! You never owned an RS3, you pitiful liar 🤣
@RedlineMaximaSE Get a better job bum and you could possibly actually really own an RS3 and not a junk box cvt maxima! 🤡
@@RedlineMaximaSE You drive a Maxima with a cvt that's a pitiful car, so get a better job and stop acting like you have an RS3 on TH-cam like some big shot keyboard warrior!!😂🤣
@@speeddemonRS3I had 00 Maxima 20 years ago idiot lmao and I already made a video proving you wrong with the RS3 in my garage you’re free to go watch it again it’s on my page lmao….what a complete loser you are
@@speeddemonRS3 I had a 00 Maxima 15 years ago lmao. Shows how much you know and secondly I already made a video calling you out with the RS3 in my garage that you’re free to checkout again on my page. Fail
ill never understand people complaining about how DSG cars are shit in auto mode. am i the only one out there who just drives in manual 90% of the time? like you have a dsg and probably complain that manual transmissions dont exist any more but then choose to drive in auto. CRAZY. bruh just click the buttons, problem solved lol. by FAR the worst thing about the new dsg cars is the inability to shift from the gear lever. it gives you way more of a feeling of driving stick. Jvette dont ever get a porshe you'll hate them lol
This is true, in manual mode I can shift I when I want.. however, with how long the gears are, you can still feel it getting in and out of the powerband. Also, if I have an auto, sometimes I want it to shift itself lol
@@JVette01 how long are the gears compared to your golf R? i have a 2017 golf r with 6spd dsg. im assuming mine are longer gears than the 7 speed dsg R. i have rs3 allocation hoping the gearing isnt too crazy. i dont want the porshe gts 4.0 because of the long gears and not using anything outside of 2nd gear.
The gears are pretty long. The golf r would fire off the gears they were nice and short. This car, 4th takes you all the way to like 135 whereas my golf r would be nice like 5th or 6th at that point. It’s good for high hp builds but stock is kinda long for the rs3.
What? Shifting an auto with the gear selector when the car has paddles is weird dude. Especially in the RS3 where the shift direction is the wrong way on the selector!
@ i drive a 2017 golf r right now. it has a proper stick there. not the chicken nugget.
No but you must regret the Golf R ;).
I do 😭 but I might’ve never experienced my Tesla if I kept it and I actually really like the Tesla as a daily
@@JVette01 Understand have a Ev Cupra as a daily ;). But Hard to beat a Ev as a daily.. But my Golf mk85R is Amazing :)
Congrats!
All these vehicles are soulless. Just hopped up normy vehicles need dedicated platforms or its all the same
You have no clue at all, but keep imagining you do! Lmfao
Not sure what you mean
@JVette01 dedicated platforms such as Miata, BRZ, C8, Lotus Emira, ect. All your vehicles are just hopped up basic everyday drivers. Nothing wrong with that but all pretty much drive the same
@speeddemonRS3 Sorry your RS3 is nothing special lol
@BitcoinTo150K Broke envious kids!! 🤣
