I think Merseytravel should do a tram starting from Aintree and that goes via Bradley Moore dock and the to the ACC ,festival Gardens and then John Lennon airport. But they should do a second line that starts around Anfield and goes to the city centre, just something to reduce pressure on Merseyrail, when the events are on in the city, there is very little transport that can transport large groups of people like trains.

Many thanks for this very useful information, though more speculation than concrete proposals. It's always nice to imagine 'what if?'

The consultation draft is definitely “what if” as there not even a route map…. www.kqliverpool.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/KQ_Lime_Line_Transport_Landscape.pdf

The easiest way from Lime Street to Knowledge Quarter and Edge Hill is to exploit the Waterloo-Victoria Tunnel which passes Lime Street, goes under KQ at University Square and rises at Edge Hill. That can be done by reinstating track and using battery 777s.
To get from L'pool South P'kway to to Bramley-Moore would be to reinstate Wapping Tunnel, which passes the south part of the Uni Campus and surfaces at Wapping-King's Place. That is not far from either Festival Gardens or Arena. From there a 'cut and cover' through the old south docks passing under or nearby pier Head and then 'cut and cover' to Waterloo Dock, curve to the Lancs-York Viaduct at Great Howard Street onto the Northern Line as an interchange for Bramley-Moore there. Alternatively, there is reserved route as car parking alongside the viaduct for an inclined track between the levels and that would be on to Bramley-Moore station which would be at the A5054 junction. From there it is an additional service of the Northern Line.

I have to agree. I doubt very much that this will ever happen. Far better to revive the edge hill spur proposals.

If we're doing trams there is massive areas of the City that should be benefiting from it, this isn't one. Areas of this city are dominated by huge car roads and awful traffic at peak hours. Plenty of roads can be converted into dual car/tram roads, Southport road, old swan, west derby etc

Tell me about it, I was supposed to be working on Merseytram until they cancelled it. Luckily I'd not handed in my notice so stayed where I was.
