🏛️ Nestled on the Greek island of Rhodes, Lindos is a town steeped in ancient history and legends, much of which still resonates today. Renowned as the second most-visited archaeological site in Greece, eclipsed only by Delphi, Lindos showcases a treasure trove of artifacts, edifices, and monuments within its charming confines.
🏖️ In Lindos, you'll have your pick of three stunning beaches: the serene Pallas Beach, the hidden gem of St. Paul's Bay, and the lively Megali Paralia, the main beach. Allocate time to meander through the town itself, though the journey to the acropolis may require some effort. But the panoramic view that awaits is nothing short of magnificent.
🏛️ Arguably the most breathtaking archaeological site on Rhodes, Lindos captivates all who approach it from the north, with its imposing acropolis perched atop a colossal rock, the dazzling white houses of the village, and the crystalline azure waters below. The scenery here is nothing short of awe-inspiring!
🏘️ Lindos' narrow streets form a labyrinth of interconnected structures, many featuring charming inner courtyards. The majority of houses boast flat roofs, constructed with locally quarried limestone (porolithos) or fieldstones that have been meticulously plastered and whitewashed.
🌅 This delightful village unfurls up a gentle slope from a golden, sandy beach, forming a radiant crescent around the northern side of the hill-cradled castle, overlooking the calm waters of a vast, rocky harbor. Above it all reigns the majestic Acropolis of Lindos, its fortress-like presence evoking a sense of awe.
🏛️ Take a closer look and you'll spot the elegant columns of a petite temple once devoted to the goddess Athena Lindia, nestled behind the formidable walls. Lindos boasts the kind of historical charm that makes visitors pause, absorbing the remarkable natural surroundings and the Acropolis rising majestically from its rocky perch.
🏛️ Embark on this journey with us and discover the timeless allure of Lindos, a living testament to Greece's rich history and breathtaking scenery.

Thank you for posting this. We are leaving for Athens next week and our cruise will be stopping in Rhodes. We were wondering if we can do this excursion on our own or have to book with the cruise…?

It is about 45 minutes to drive to Lindos from the port in Rhodes. You can do this on your own, no problem. You will need to rent a car because the taxis would be costly.. taking the tour from the cruise may cost more then if you do it on your own but may take the stress out of finding your own way.. if you do decide to rent a car, make sure to stop off in Lardos village and eat at Patriko restaurant.. best kontosouvli (bbq meat) let me know if you have any other questions

Why is this animal cruelty advertised? The donkeys have to suffer a lot. Many animal rights organizations and tourists draw attention to this: the donkeys don't get water and food all day, have to carry too heavy people, and some of them are injured and have open wounds 😥🐴

Our video merely described what we experienced as we walked up to the Acropolis. We chose to walk and not to ride a donkey as we also do not agree to what they put these poor animals through. Thank you for your feedback.
