    I just ordered the combo version. If I can get it to sound even close to this good, I will be happy. This was the best review of this amp, at least in my opinion. Thanks for taking the time!

      It’s going to give you probably a different sound. If you don’t like it swap the speaker. The speaker and cab is 80 percent of the sound. I have tried one amp sim with different cabs and all sound different.

      @@jorgeguitar2540 Thanks, Jorge. I got the amp and it fulfills most of my needs. I do want a little more distortion than it provides. I put a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 in front, and I am there. Thanks again for your knowledge. Point taken. I will try it with some old cabs and speakers now.

    I have the new HT-1R MKII, the old HT-5R and the new HT-20MKII, the new HT20MKII is hands down the best overall. It has 2 preamp tubes for a better clean tone and EL 84s for a fat overdrive in a bigger cab so bigger sound....and with the 2 watt button I have no need for the other amps. Get the new 20 watt and play it on 2 watts at home, and full 20 when playing out you will be happy!

    • @Yimello
      @Yimello 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      2 tube watts is still very loud though, louder than some people can really justifier. 0.5 watts might be just what they need.

    • @markkosa1
      @markkosa1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Yimello The MKII 20 watt has a true master volume, does not affect tone because it is last in the chain...makes it sound good at any volume. I have 8 amps from fender to Marshall and it is the best hands down.

      you can plug it into a harley benton GPA100 if you don’t mind using a 100w solid state poweramp. That is a cheap solution if you rarely gig outside the house.

    I'm seriously considering one of these and A HT 50 head but i am hesitant because I'm hearing a lack of upper mids.
    I would to hear them through some betterv Quality Celestions or some WGS speakers. Black star does not have much variety in their speaker choices . Its all Black Star design speakers and Celestion 70/80s. They were putting V30s in their higher Quality series one and Artisan cabs but it seems those are discontinued.

    What is "4x12 emulation"? I guess that means you're not recording a speaker connected to this amp, and are instead recording some software that's listening to the amp's USB output and trying to shape the singal somehow. Is that right? If so, does this video tell us more about the amp itself, or more about that emulation software?

    • @danielguinea2971
      @danielguinea2971 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing is that this amp has an emulation in the line out of a 4x12 speakers cab, which as you say you can connect directly to an interface to record

    • @miguel1927
      @miguel1927 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a normal behavior on several tube amps. Mine pops too, you have to make a quick break when changing channels to avoid the pop. Is really annoying. When a tube amp is designed to avoid the pop, I think it's a relay circuit that adds a delay in the sound between changing channels.

    Help me understand something with this head and others alike, if its a 5 watt tube head, that seems kinda low to me but is sounds louder than 5 watts. What about this head is “5 watts” I don’t get it?

    • @robvoyles
      @robvoyles 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      5 watts is it's output power rating. Volume can vary from one amp to another amp with the same 5 watt output rating. It is subjective.

      Wattage doesn't measure decibels - as mentioned it is power. It does give some idea of how much clean headroom you'll get though.

      Ok, I was just pointing out the restrictions. The demo sounds like the amp is capable of a bright tone, so maybe it's your cab? Have you tried it with another cab? Maybe it will sound less muffled with a brighter voiced speaker.

  • @kevmet84

    While decent😎 demo for what it is, why not use the same guitar & selected PUs & pot control settings when walking through varying settings on the amp itself to better illustrate how the amp itself behaves at its own numerous setting possibilities w/o engaging the different & plethora of possible guitar inputs? Nobody ever really does that. At least when someone showcases a few settings even with different input signals, most then do it within a song context. But, I'd prefer the simpler and straightforward approach with one guitar and a single electronics setup for it in play against the amp's various incremental settings that better provide a objective baseline from which to gauge the amp's performance as opposed attempting to pull from a potpourri of guitars in mixed amp settings from which to guess whether or not it is an amp you can use with your own instruments. Keeping a single input tone signal and often preferably a single guitar lick/riff that describes how lead licks or rhythm licks come through the amp is imo a better way to give any credibility to the demo as to how it can work within you own rig. Few channels that demo gear seldom manage to provide that aspect especially when trying to keep the video within a time frame.
