Manga has been on hiatus for about 7 months now.. hopefully because of preparations for the anime. I recommend reading Suzuka as well since it's set 16 years before Fuuka. Totally different story but still really good.
I know It's a bit unfair but since I've only watched/read one other band series it's hard not to compare this to NANA and although Fuuka is a pretty good manga it pales in comparison to NANA. Even the music isn't as good this one is ok but it's no "Rose"

The first episode of Fuuka is the same with Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Your Lie in April). I think that's what you're looking for.
