I wish I could like this video more than once because that was the most fun reaction to watch ever! You've always been one of my favorite reactors of all time starting way back to when you first started your TØP journey! This specific reaction, however, may be my absolute favorite of yours....and thats saying A LOT!!! This was an absolute blast and for someone born in '84, I was right there with you the entire time with the excitement of the memories brought back with each song! Love PTX and love you too, my friend! If you actually read this, considering how late i am watching this, I hope all is well with you still and I plan on catching up on some of your videis as I've been MIA for a shile. Also, if you havenf checked out Panic! at the Disco yet, do yourself a favor and checj them out. Their songs AND videos are amazing. And if u have and i just havent caught up quite yet, they just recently released a new song (Viva Las Vengeance) that is sooo catchy and they have a new album dropping soon. This is my favorite reaction to this medley. You have the right combination of age, European-ness (clunky word to express the concept) and personality that make you the perfect reactor for this. A couple of the songs were not familiar to me at first, but because I spent a significant portion of the 90s out at sea, and almost no portion of the 90s in dance clubs, that probably explains that.
I LOVE Scott’s attitude in this medley, so playful and my favorite vocal of Kirstie is the song right before the blue song ‘I swear I can fly’ is my favorite line she sings

The 80’s and 90’s were by far the best years. You could sing your head off then, but you can’t these days. Today music as been dumbed down. ❤❤❤❤
The digital part during Believe was purposeful auto tune to pay homage to Cher
oh was it? Is it the first time? Makes me doubt all previous songs where I thought it was impossible to do without autotuning.
@@someonefromcanada2668 omg it’s not a big deal. She famously used autotune for the song so they did the same thing and made it very obvious to the listening ear. Calm the hell down y’all.
@@braydentheslayer It was not meant as an insult or to discredit their work. I'm still amazed at how their Daft Punk medley and Mad World sound and cannot understand how they make some of the sounds... but I know it's natural. It was the first time I saw someone mention they used autotune.
@@someonefromcanada2668 This was their first time actually using autotune, and it WAS meant as a tribute to Cher, but they have used audio tricks in the studio for quite a while now...mostly reverb and EQ. They stepped up the tricks on the new Lucky Ones album, admitting that they're taking a new approach and the songs won't be as easy to reproduce live anymore. But they're growing and progressing as artists and should be applauded for it.

I keep watching peoples reactions to this, but I never enjoy them as much as I do yours. you are so into it & know what you are reacting to. I was in my 20's in the 90's & loved every minute of your reaction. thank you for bringing more joy into my life
I loved this reaction, it's the perfect example of what I've seen from so many others (reacting to this medley)... It takes us 90's kids back & makes us nerd out, so nostalgic, but in a purely joyful way (instead of a wistful one). I was in middle school when these came out, so I was JUST getting into pop culture being a young teenager, it had a big impact on me.
And actually, you're SPOT ON about music changing over the decades to become something far less unique, & more one dimensional. This has actually been researched & studied, & once music became more of a 'commodity' instead of a creative art (due to the music industry, who, because they were investing _money_ into these artists, wanted to take the least _risk_ possible, & have the best chance of getting a return on their investment which basically meant killing all the creativity/ingenuity), they started using the exact same formula (based on what songs sold best) to write/create every new pop song that followed. (I think the same *2* men are responsible for every top pop song for the last 20+ years, or something like that). You're also spot on about the use of technology severely watering down the sounds used in music as well. They started using a lot more synthetic sounds (even for parts for real instruments), which resonate very differently in how they record too.

Lady Gaga's recently put out an album that definitely pulls these types of old school sounds. It's called Chromatica, it sounds so much like a 90s/2000s dance floor.
"It goes around the world" is ATC, "A Touch of Class", and "Better Off Alone" is Alice Deejay (now Alice DJ).
I saw some others reactors and I couldn't agree more: you really got the vibe, emotions and everything from this era... I really love those songs and I lost count how much time I replayed this medley. Damn, it was incredible! And amazing react! =D

It was so much fun watching you react to this medley. I knew you were probably of an age to appreciate it but I've never seen a reactor that knew every single song. I think, though, you were so wrapped up in the music and the trip down memory lane that you may have missed some of the amazing effects and sounds and Beats that were happening in this song. Kevin's beatboxing was just on another level in this medley. Of course, his beatboxing is normally on another level so maybe a half a step above that? Matt was also amazing in this. That final bass drop was just fire. This whole medley was fire. In the '90s, I didn't spend a whole lot of time at clubs since I had just had my first child in 1990, my second in 93 so I was busy being a mom. But Pentatonix has given me a new appreciation for the music of that time. Again, it was so much fun watching you react to this and I hope you go back and listen to not just the songs but the music. Cheers!

I absolutely loved your reaction to this video. I totally enjoyed it. And I loved and agreed 100% with your rant in the middle. The music today has become too commercialized. They've taken the art out of our lives and replaced it with money in their pockets. And you can imagine how much I see it cause I come to life musically in the late 60s. I see a BIG difference. You're great.
They did actually use a Vocoder in the Cher track, it's impossible for the human voice to replicate that kind of digital manipulation, even for PTX!

Your reaction to this was eagerly anticipated, and exceeded all expectations! It was definitely the highlight of my week! Yes, PTX crushed this. Even though those years were corny and cringey, we were all corny and cringey together. I long for those innocent, more unified days, which is why I think this has struck a chord in so many of us. I really hope you will react to more of their new album, which has that artistry and creativity that is so hard to find these days.

I remember the club scene with this music. It was, like you say, innocent and joyful. We went to have fun and dance! The whole sorrounding sound atmosphere was mesmerizing and the special part was a collective feeling shared with everyone together.

While 90's music isn't my thing I appreciate your joy! It is infectious.
I do think that we will be listening to them decades from now because what they do is so simple and complex at the same time. It is simple because there are only five of them, only voices and no instruments, and it is complicated because all five of them are needed at every point of the song to make is sound real and full. Most music that stands the test of time is that way. They also bring a passion to it that cannot be faked because there are only five of them. If one of them was faking it, it would be obvious and would destroy the music.

This was a banger, and totally came out of nowhere...surprising even the most ardent Pentaholics! Makes me wonder what they've got up their sleeves!! Are they working on a new covers album already? Or maybe this medley was a promo for a new 90s dance music covers album that will feature all of the songs heard in this medley?? My curiosity is running rampant now!! And I agree with you 100000% on your comments about the state of today's music industry having become so stagnant. It's not just rap, it's all across the board. The latest Grammy Awards were actually an embarrassment to the music industry, and the TV ratings were so bad I'm wondering if there will even BE another Grammy Award show next year (the fact that Pentatonix wasn't even nominated for either "Thank You" or "Amazing Grace" says a LOT). Thankfully we still have artists like Pentatonix that not only can create really fantastic original music, but can also take covers and put such amazingly creative spins on them that they actually make them their own. And yes, they did use autotune on "Believe" as a tribute to Cher, who was one of the first singers to use autotune as an artistic expression rather than a corrective measure (heaven knows Cher has one of the greatest voices of all time).

This really hit your sweet spot and I love it! All of us have our cringe moments (some of us more than others) but the energy and sounds bring back the best as well. I think music has always been mired in mediocrity since the record companies took hold of the business but at the same time PTX is an example of the new doors that technology has opened. They contract that they won b y winning The Sing Off was dropped by the label before they ever recorded a not for them so they built their success on TH-cam. It's a great example for those rare, unique talents out there that can't get a record deal because they are percieved to be commercial (i.e. sound like somebody else already selling records) to find their own audience and chase their dreams.
