I visited Cartagena last year. It was my first South American trip abroad, and I enjoyed it. I just visited medellin 2 weeks ago. I'm originally from NYC, and Medellin is the first city I've visited in all my travels that I absolutely fell in love with, so much so that I'm planning to live there for 3-6 months temporary. Medellin is a city on the come up, Columbia has a tremendous amount to offer the rest of the world. This is a thriving city that will only continue to thrive in the next 10 years, I'm looking to invest in medellin in the very near future. I absolutely fell in love with that nature, geography, culture, and people of medellin.
Really great video! I need to visit there soon. I went to Bogota in August of 2022 and it was absolutely spectacular! I used Uber, I walked everywhere in between, and not once did I ever feel unsafe... anymore than I do here in the states. My gf is from Venezuela and she said it was a world of difference than back home. I was surprised that I was meeting quite a bit of Koreans and British people that lived there as well. Truly a marvelous country, just use your common sense as you would ANY country. No dark alleys, no walking alone late at night, don't be too flashy with jewelry.
Medellin has already surpassed Cartagena in international tourists, confirmed by Colombian migration in September 2022, also Medellin is one of the 3 smart tourist destinations in Latin America. even in January 2023 THE NEW YORK TIMES included Medellin among the best 52 destinations in the world in 2023.
W H A A A UW ! Medellin Colombia is huge compare to my little country "Belgium" , west europe ; if i visit ... i never go back to "Belgium" ! Thanks for the little info. 🤗👍
I'm planning to go for my birthday in February 2024. I cannot wait so excited to go and Castellano is my second language. Thank you so much for your brilliant videos ❤
Thank you. I'm considering visiting Medellin and I'll follow your advice on the specific neighborhoods to stay. As always, your photography/videography is the best👍
I visited there last August. It was amazing. I loved the city, and had no problem getting around. I bought a metro pass, and rode it every day. The food was amazing. I love your videos, Israel. 😊
Wow, this video needs lots and lots more views than this, although 16k is quite a good number. And, more importantly , such a nice soft eloquent way to describe it. Excelente!
My project is to live in a town near medellin, when i retire from working, i love my city for its human quality and everything you can do there, with out getting bored...i love Medellin.❤😊
I love your videos! everytime I'm going somewhere I'm checking if you have a video about this place. Medellin looks awesome, I can't wait to see it in real!
Israel... I have been following your videos for almost 2 years now. your quality is so excellent. I keep sharing your videos with all my friends. you deserve to have so many more views for your efforts. I am a Canadian that has been living in Mexico for almost 2 years now. but now that travel has returned mostly to normal now I want to go to some different countries and Colombia is high on my list, so thanks so much for doing the series of videos from your trip here. Latin America seems like it is very much on the rise and places like the US and Canada are in decline. my family thinks I am crazy to live in Mexico and my mother will probably have a heart attack if I go to Colombia! I am glad I am like you and curious about the world rather than afraid of it. cheers!
Israel. Believe it or not, my wife and I went to Colombia in 2018. Many family members thought we were nuts. Colombia and Medellin has an infamous reputation for drugs and danger. We went to Bogota, Cali, Medellin, and Cartagena. We had a great time. We want to go back... even to do RECON. We may end up relocating to Colombia...either Colombia or Mexico. Everyone we know calls us nuts. They don't really know what Colombia is about
@@b010ng7 it ain't going to happen. I want my wife with me. My wife is my mate. She is the first one who will join me when I ask. She will agree on stuff like this well before anyone else. She is that kind of woman.
Hi Israel. I'm watching more of your videos. I was in Medellín three times. In 2017, 2019 and 2022. Each time it was a little bit different. In August 2022 I definitely felt the digital nomads who have made it their favorite Colombian city. You hear a lot of English on the street. You see menus in English. And you have to listen to people doing business on their phone in a restaurant while you're having breakfast. Each time I was there it rained a lot. City of eternal spring or eternal rain? Medellín is a lovely city that has very successfully reinvented itself. But I also think it's become too popular for its own good.
@@IsraelPlata Medellin is messier? If Medellin is #1 in quality of life, on the other hand, Barranquilla doesn't even have a sewage system. Every time it rains, the whole city floods. You can tell that you only got to know the wealthy part of Barranquilla. Get to know the remaining 90% of the city and tell us what seem to you? It's just misery, chaos and abandonment, you can even still see horses loading rubble onto carts down the street.
I was there in 1983, coming from Panama, at these time Columbia was very dangerous. Too bad , beautiful country, very nice people. I think now it's better.👍
I'm thinking about either moving to Mexico City or Columbia. Will be checking out Medellin in about 10 days. Curious what other people think about the comparison between Mexico City and Medellin Colombia as a place to live.
I recomend u (if u moving to colombia, specifically to medellin) to move to belen, rosales or belen, fatima, is much cheaper than laureles and poblado and is pretty safe tbh
Good job, mellow. So many TH-camrs will make manic, loud videos as a way to say that a city is exciting. I'm from la USA but have lived almost 8 years in Medellin. What country are you originally from Israel?
@@IsraelPlata Ah so, D.F. I was there on numerous occasions when I rented a super- duper apartment in San Miguel de Allende for two years. There's a nice little area off Reforma behind the US embassy. I stayed there for a couple of months...lovely.

I loved Medellin, I was there in September of 2023. I felt so safe wherever I go, despite the fact the US government issued a travel warning for US citizens not to go there!
I've been visiting Medellin since 2021. I met my girlfriend in April of 2022 and I just proposed to her a few weeks ago. I will retire there hopefully in a few years, God willing. I love that place and my heart is there.
